It always seems like Will Smith is a bonafide hit and his new movie Hitch continues that trend. Debuting in first place this weekend with a huge $45.3 million, this is Will Smith's first comedy/comedy in quite a while after in years past starring in some sort of drama or action/sci-fi adventure, or voice in an animated movie.

Coming in second place was Boogeyman with $10.8 million and a total of $33.3 million.

Are We There Yet? continues to be strong as it came in third place with $8.5 million and a $61.5 million total.

Placing in fourth was Million Dollar Baby with $7.5 million and a $45 million total, trying to show that it is best picture worthy.

Rounding out the top 5 and debuting was Disney's newest Winnie the Pooh installment, Pooh's Heffalump Movie which made only $6 million.

Opening next weekend are three new movies. First up is Constantine with Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz.

The latest movie about a family and it's dog, Because of Winn-Dixie with Jeff Daniels.

And the dumbest movie to ever get greenlit this year if not in the last few years, Son of the Mask starring Jamie Kennedy, Alan Cumming, Bob Haskins(?!), and Ben Stein. Good friggin God!

I want to know what people were thinking with The Son of the Mask. The first one seemed like a movie for teenagers/adults, and this one looks like it's supposed to be for fifth graders...

I haven't been to the movies since Coach Carter. Is Hitch any good?

Yay for Hitch. Can't wait to see that and Constantine in a week. :D

I want Son of the Mask to bomb so badly. The first movie was so great and yet they taint it with this. Bah.

I want to know what people were thinking with The Son of the Mask. The first one seemed like a movie for teenagers/adults, and this one looks like it's supposed to be for fifth graders... I'm with you. How you decide to make a children themed sequel to an teen/adult themed first movie TEN YEARS AFTER the first movie came out is completely beyond my comprehension.

Of course...the simple and likely answer is to capitalize on a franchise everyone forgot about for a quick buck...however, SOTM has a $100 million budget. So I really can't understand any reason for it's creation.

I'm hoping SotM is good, it looks like something my six year old nephew would enjoy. Having said that, I'm willing to bet that after seeing the trailer, Jim Carrey dropped to his knees and thanked God (Or Oprah, they're both equally powerful) that he turned the sequel down.

Whoa, I had no idea Hitch came out yet. I wanted to see that, but next week is Constantine. Ihave heard nothing but great reviews from that movie and expect it to be #1.

Son of the Mask is going to bomb badly.

Also, it's good to see Sideways making at least SOME money.

Son of the Mask is going to bomb badly.
Yep, without a doubt one of the worst decisions since Dumb & Dumberer.

CONSTANTINE! :D can't wait for that.

Good to see Hitch making some coin. It's nothing I'd rush out and see, but it's seems nice.

Why are audiences still seeing Are We There Yet??! Are their lives so empty and pathetic that they're deluded into thinking that this is a worthwhile use of their time?!

While we're on the subject, I can't imagine why someone thought that basing a Mask sequel on one of the worst episodes of the cartoon series would be a good idea.

Here's hoping that Because of Winn-Dixie succeeds. Unlike the films I've mentioned, this looks more likely to entertain children, rather than harm them...though I'm not crazy about the CGI smiling on the titular dog.

Now don't go hatin' on the cast of Son of the Mask (well, maybe except for Jamie Kennedy). You seem to be forgetting that Alan Cumming is actually pretty talented, Bob Hoskins was Detective Eddie Valient in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Ben Stein seems to simply get away with his involvment on "The Fairly Oddparents". You know?

But I agree with you on the movie itself. It does look idiotic. In the entire huge promotion of it, I only laughed, like, one or two times. Once when the baby said "Mommy", then the dad prompted him/her to say "MOTHER!" in aggrivation, and then when a commercial showing off Alan Cumming's schtick, if that's what you want to call it, came on (that had some minor bright moments). Now, it looks mildly tolerable as a kids' flick, but the CGI is D.O.A. It looks HIDEOUS, and never works...ever.

Wow, I guess Will Smith is box office gold. Didn't even need special effects this time.

There were so many ways they could've taken a Mask sequal ; especially if they followed the comics, Carrey's character was the first to have the Mask but then other people found it, oddly enough Dark Horse closed the book on the Mask comic Universe in the Mask/Joker crossover in which the Dective throws the Mask into Stanley Ipkisses casket with him.

Wow, big time haul for Hitch. Although I think it's pretty easy to see the formula they were using, which equaled box office success. Will Smith + dating comedy + Vday weekend = $$$.

It's nice to see Million Dollar Baby doing well, and that at least some kids got their parents to take them to the Pooh movie. I'm a little surprised not to see The Wedding Date higher, maybe more people saw the similarities to My Best Friend's Wedding.

I don't see Son of the Mask doing well, save for maybe kids that don't know the first one or are too young to care and like the look of it. I like Jamie Kennedy, but man, he needs to pick better roles.
