I don't know if anyone's posted this yet, but go here (http://www.laoffice.com/01-13-05-WHV.asp) and you'll see that a new Batman DTV is being made, 'The Batman vs. DRACULA'!? Yeah, crazy. Could be good though. Coming out in the 4th quarter this year...

Aw, it's "The Batman" Vs. Dracula, not Animated series Batman Vs. Dracula sadly.

The type of plotline that Timm and co. wanted to do in BTAS regarding vampires (but they couldn't do to censor problems) now the WB is letting "The Batman" do it! Goes to show you how much they love The Batman over BTAS. -_-

Well I think it will be interesting to see what the "the Batman" team can do when not tied down by that Y7 rating. I think this might be decent.
I know Timm and crew wanted a vampire story them selves but did they ever try the DTV road for it or did they just give up after they realized they could never make an episode for it?
More interestingly, The Joker and The Penguin are in it.
The cover's nice too! :)

no offense but this New "The Batman" Dtv is gonna really suck trust me. It all sounds so unusual Dracula?! why the hell is he in gotham anyway? further more knowing the Batman writers are not that good, i expect a campy childish Movie. It just feels so dumb Batman VS Dracula come on Phantasm, how many good movies have that kind of campy 60s title.my hopes for this movie and the Batman just went way down.

True. For a moment there I forgot that this was THE Batman. Now, Dracula and Batman has the potential to be a GREAT storyline. Always have felt that way since I read Bram Stoker's classic. If the Batman can crush an icon as great as Batman, then who's to say they won't do the same with Dracula.:(

They shelved the Justice League DTV for THIS?
This is the first DC DTV I will not be buying. I can watch The Batman on TV for free but I will not support the production by buying it's merchandise while it makes Bruce Timm's Batman Supporting Cast vie for screen time.
Plus I have a feeling it probably won't be any good.

I understand people's fears but I see this as a chance to see what "The Batman" team can really do when not held down.
Now how they play this DTV special is the big question, there are great Batman VS Dracula comic books but they will probably go a cornier path for this special. Still I'm going to wait and see.

Though I can appreciate the show and actually like a number of the episodes, I've always thought this idea just sounds ludicrous - that is, if it's Dracula himself. If it's a different vampiristic story (featuring someone like Nocturna, for example) I'd give it a chance, but this story just sounds totally campy and cheesy.
That, and I just hate movies whose titles focus on the word "Versus". Total lack of creativity.

oh im sure it i will, but like other "The batman" things the plot will be lacking. the fact that its called "Batman VS Dracula" means its targeted at a younger audience.

(not to mention out of the ordinary designs for characters from appearance to origin to voice to whatever)...

Is it just me, or has TB's Batman gotten some cosmetic surgery? His chin seems a little stronger on that cover than it presently is in the show. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. :)

He's not. This is by the creators of The Batman and he has nothing to do with the show.

nothing new, this has been rumored for a while now, and matt of at LoG, confirmed already. I'm looking forward to it, sure it won't be as dark as the Elseworld story it seams to be based on, and I'm sure b.t. is upset that they killed his Nocturna story but are allowing this, but that was years ago, I'm sure these are different PTB that green lit this. That and i don't hate The Batman as so many of you do...
BS + P wouldn't allow vampires on BTAS. BS+P won't have anything to do with this, as it's a DTV feature, not something which they want to air on the network.
Then again, would we want another Morbius craving plasma in Batman? :)

I wouldn't be surprised. If Dracula wraps his hands around Batman to suck the plasma from him I'm afraid some people will get the wrong idea.
Still, using plasma in place of blood has the potential for some great lines:
Dracula: "I need your plasma!"
Batman: "And I have asthma."
Batman: "How's about some Count Chocula to go with your plasma?"
...Yeah, those lines suck.

well, granted Morbius was different on TAS to make it more kid-friendly, but he wasn't "terrible", infact, in ways I support what they did there more because it is less vicious and unacceptable. that would make it disgusting if he were biting them and shown drawning blood from victims. I am pleased the content was lowered in that aspect because we don't want some satanic Blade movie-style freak-show bit going onto TV, it is bad enough when that stuff gets away on more mature-only cartoons or movies... or whatever else. (IMO)

It's not that it's nothing new, we've known about it for about 4-5 months now. It's just that this is the first really official word of it and the first shot of cover art (even if it is probably just preliminary)...

He would be if he's actually an insider; track records don't really confirm whether or not they're actual insider information or just a good guess. WHV has changed almost every animated DC Cover release since they started releasing DVDs, so it's more of an educated guess than bonefied insider commentary...

If any good comes out of this crap, maybe it could spark a renewed interest in that old Nocturna story that got axed several times. I sincerely doubt that Nocturna -- an old Batman villain from the 1980s -- would be part of the embargo; after all, they used KGBeast and Deadshot.

Deadshot is probably classed as JL villain, seeing as how he never appeared in Batman.
Still, might be one to watch out for. I've no idea if The Batman is going to improve or not, but I'm still intrigued to find out.

Possibly -- considering his use in Suicide Squad and the like -- but he still originated in the Batman comics. Besides, no matter how many rules Kids' WB relaxes, I sincerely doubt that they would allow an out-and-out gun-toting assassin on Saturday mornings.
It's a shame they couldn't have at least asked Timm and Dini to do this in the BTAS style, I don't think kids are going to get that confused over the design differences. They're watching JL, Teen Titans, AND The Batman now, plus whatever reruns they can find of the old series. And then theres the cameo's on Static Shock... I'll give it a chance, its gotta be better than Batwoman was, they usually have neat designs for the show. Maybe, just maybe, they won't make it too toned down, it is a vampire after all, kids know they're not cuddly. Ugh, I hate having to worry about WB's censorship rules, time to go read some gritty comics.....

Actually, it was both networks.

As for the premise, I'm not sure how they can make this work since they can't be too loose with their standards. This will air on TV eventually so they'll probably follow the same rules for the most part.

"My cartoons have brainwashed them into thinking everything else is crap!" ?
I think all the negativeness is just coming from the fact "The Batman" is allowed to do vampires and BTAS wasn't. Though I'm pretty sure we'll see some really horrible vampires. Vampires are about blood and if it's not made for older audiences, you always get a dumbed down version. Maybe the team behind it will slip in a few " " moments, but I just get the feeling the shows 100% Kids WB!'s influence.

Some years back, the vampire Lestat created another of his kind among the candy factory workers. Unfortunately, the young vampire did not take to the taste of blood, so he covers his victims in chocolate first. He is... Count Chocula. But is Batman alone on this assignment?
