I'd bet someone would complain about a black character with "Black" in his superhero name. Any thoughts?

They'll have to call him Superbolt. ;)
I don't think that it'll be an issue. I think that he was only a minor character in the comics, and having him show up will probably bring up too many bad memories of Superfriends.

I think that J'Onn J'Onzz talked to the writers about the name of the Green Lantern Corps too. Did you notice that they were referred to as simply the "Lantern Corps?" Everyone is so sensitive these days!

there was a truly funny Saturday Night Live skit that involved Black Lightning (played by the unfunny Sinbad). It was a skit of Superman's funeral during the whole Doomsday plotline. Anyway, all the heroes congregated and no one recognized Black Lightning. He tried to convince everyone that he was a friend of Superman's and an actual super-hero.
I guess it sounds a lot funnier if you actually see it. Just thought I would share

Only if we can call Superman "White Fly Boy."

ANY appearance on Justice League by Black Vulcan, Samauri, Apache Cheif, Jan & Zak, or Marvin & Wendy, would just pollute an otherwise awesome show. Not even as a joke!
Leave the "U.N. diversity council" type stuff on the After School Specials. Let the superheroes be who they are; I hate it when the make up superheroes to fill some kind of "sesitivity void", like those mentioned above do.
Besides, if the overly-sensitive people would just watch the show, they'd realize that over half the Justice League -- Superman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, and Wonder Woman -- aren't even Human! They're aliens! And what can be more diverse than having Humans and Non-Humans mix together peacefully? :p
OK, gotta go. Really. :(

Uh, Black Lightning and Black Vulcan are two different characters. Black Lightning is an actual character from the comics--one that Timm actually drew up designs for and must have considered using at one point. Check out this link for his design (as well as for others planned for an earlier, Batman-less version of the Justice League:

Even if they were written well in an interesting story? Come on, you're overreacting. We all have a low opinion of Superfriends, but saying that even a brief appearance of one of those guys would automatically wreck a show is an exaggeration.
I don't think that any of those guys will appear, and I don't really want any of them to appear, but if one of them appeared in the show and their appearance was well written and helped contribute to a good story, then I'm all for it.
And the Supertwins are Zan and Jayna.

One of my favorite SNL skits of all time.
And Sinbad's comedy is really an acquired taste.

Well, Black Lightening did have two comic books called Black Lightening so it could be possible...but I doubt they'd even refer to him by his "code name"!

When, or if, Black Lightning shows up, let's hope his name is "Fodder." :p
