Here's something that's been bugging me. Is Braceface a good show? I watched it a couple years ago when it was on The Family channel, and it seemed to address some serious themes (substance abuse, periods, etc.).
Now that it's on Disney, though, I'm wondering if it's an entertaining show. I haven't been able to watch it for more than 5 minues because Alicia Silverstone's voice is like scratching styrofoam, but does anyone out there like Braceface? Has Disney watered it down somehow?

I actually like Brace Face. I think it's kind of cliche, but I do like it.

I have this thing where if nothing's on, I'll throw Disney Channel on. So I have grown to like some of the shows they play (Braceface being one of them). So I sort of like it, though don't watch it often. It seemed like a good enough show. Had the "right" message, I suppose.

It's a fantastic show. Sadly, it was only on for three seasons, 2001-2004. :(
I miss the show dearly but Braceface's parent company, Teletoon, airs the reruns.

Any show where the main character gets wasted on Jack and coke can't be all bad.

It wasn't Jack nor did she do coke.
I saw every single episode.

I guess it doesn't help I have a liking for girls with braces, eh? :D

Not cocaine...I'm not crazy :p
One episode where she hung out with this band, and she had some Coke (Coca-Cola!) mixed with Jack (Jack Daniels). She proceeded to get wasted, and her dad discovered her as such.

Whoops.. sorry.. I'm tired, Silent Bob. ;)
No one said it was indeed Jack. It was coke laced with something and it's usually Jack and coke but people do drink rum and coke.
I think Alden is adorable!! He's the type of guy I wish was in high school when I was in HS. No matter who you are, he likes you for you. :)
Of course, the added bonus for Alden: he's voiced by my Canadian crush. :o

I enjoy it sometimes, although her voice is really annoying.

That show wasn't a complete waste, but I could still do nicely without it. Sooner or later, these show creators are going to have to come up with something more original and entertaining than the "clueless suburban-sheltered tweens" premise.
In fact, most of the stuff in Braceface, including the stories, the voices, and background and character designs, looked like they were still in practice when everything was finalized. It's like eating half-cooked meat. :ack:
I also get tired of so many t(w)een shows requiring the "rich snooty girl" for the villian (Lizzie McGuire, Sabrina: The Animated Series, As Told by Ginger, The Proud Family, Kim Possible). Here, Nina is a REAL pain in the rear; all she ever did was bother Sharon all the time, just because of something that happened when they were little. I don't know HOW the writers expected us to sympathize with Nina, especially when Sharon seeked much-deserved revenge against her.
I WAS surprised when Nina's sidekick, Allison, decided to become one of the good guys; she didn't go crawling back to the dark side in the end as I expected. But given how much time she spent in Nina's shadow, Sharon DID have every right to question Allision becoming her friend.

Does she her braces off for the season finale?:p I like the show, but it only needs to on twice during the weekends. Disney needs some new stuff.

Nope. Only for that brief period where she has them off for 24 hours is the only time.
BUT, she and Alden get back together in the series finale.
Sharon wasn't the one who cut off all of Nina's dolls heads. It was her (Nina) English cousin

It's a Canada-China co-production. Braceface's parent company is Nelvana. Their parent station is Teletoon.

I kinda agree with you Lehteb. On one hand, the premise is pretty bland (in fact, did they even NEED to give her braces that did wacky things...it sort of takes away from the whole normal high school thing).
On the other hand, though, the characters do grow and there are ongoing plots.
Some of you seem to like it. Does it deserve 1-2 hours a day on the Disney Channel?

I like the addition of her braces doing wacky things. High school's tough enough as it is and she has other problems with her braces.
I WISH Teletoon would show a "Braceface" marathon!!
I heard that Alicia Silverstone acts as the main character's voice. Personally, I don't think this show is appropriate for the Disney channel. Since it does feature some teen-issues.

Alicia was Sharon's first voice actress. Stacy DePass took over as Sharon in season three.

It's an ok show I'll watch it from time to time, only problem is Disney from when I can see it only airs it early in the morning. I'm not going to get up that early for the show lol.
