Now then, now then,
I think Whedon's X-Men title is something that someone who hasn't read an X-book in years can pick up and feel like it's right where we left off. All those extra readers for Whedon's X-Men book? Those are the readers, like me, who loved the X-Men and hated what was being done to them in the 80's, and bailed before everybody became a clone of a time-traveling alternate universe robot clone ninja parallel future child clone of someone else.
Ace posted this in a therad over at the CBC board, and I couldn't agree more. I've tried following X-Men comics a few times, Grant Morrisons first arc was more or less lost on me, and now everyone is complaining most of the X-Books are crap. But, that's comics and it's off topic. We will speak of them -- no more!
Ace summary perfectly explains how well the book has managed to cater to new readers, whilst not alienating older, long time readers.
Since X-Men: Evolution is all done and dusted, and spin off's, possibly in the future or at least a few good years from the end of Evo, being the only possible way of seeing the characters again, how well do you think Astonishing X-Men would work as a spin off to the show?
