I know this is usually Tommy Lawson's job, but since I haven't seen a talkback yet (last week's talkback showed up a full day before the preimiere), I'll take over.
The Guardians of the Veil are back for another wild adventure this weekend.
So far, we've been introduced to Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin, collectively known as W.I.T.C.H. These 5 seemingly ordinary kids have been given powers over the elements (Water for Irma, Fire for Taranee, Earth for Cornelia, and Air for Hay Lin). Will has been charged with the Heart of Kandrakar, which activates and enhances the girls' powers. Their mission is to protect and heal the Veil, a magical gateway that separates our world from an alternate, evil universe known as Meridian, by closing portals caused by the Veil's weakening.
Our heroines also have a side quest, which leads us to this week's episode.
At an unwanted surprise party for Will, the girls must battle an expected guest: Phobos' henchman Cedric, who is intent on finding the heir to his master's throne… a long-lost sister living somewhere in Heatherfield.Sounds like we're in for a good one, so check it out. W.I.T.C.H. airs at 9:30 Eastern time both Saturday and Sunday mornigs on ABC Family, with a same-day premiere on ABC Kids (usually Saturday at 12:00 Eastern, but check your local listings), and on Toon Disney Monday and Friday night at 8:30 Eastern.

Yeah, I was kinda busy with the whole "Dekaranger vs. Power Rangers: S.P.D." article, so creating talkback threads wasn't a top priority for me.
I'm going to take a wild stab and say Elyon is introduced this week. Hopefully.

Yeah, the synopsis of this one makes me think Elyon will make her TV debut here.

Maybe with the flaxen-like hair as in the comic?
Wow. What an introduction for Elyon. It was so amazing I was stunned. [/sarcasm]
So...who was the other girl that was looking at Caleb?
Question: Can Will talk to electronic appliances in the show? Or did that not make it?
Hay Lin looks awesome in a Chinese dress.

Introductions abound. So far, we've seen Elyon, Uriah and his gang, Cornelia's sister, and Hay Lin's map all get intro'd in this one. Oops, and there's Martin as I type this.
Question: Can Will talk to electronic appliances in the show? Or did that not make it?
We haven't seen that part yet, but we've still got plenty of episodes to go, so there's still a good chance.
Umm...where are the ineffective, lazy, rent-a-cop security guards?
Yay! Matt's introduced! That must mean we'll get Will's doormouse pretty soon.

And there's Matt, right at the end.
Ok, let's do this!
-Elyon is cute. She's got some of Irma's spunk, as evidenced by the way she was chowing down on that food.
-Uriah and his goons are the same bullies as their comic counterparts. Cool to see Blunk give them a taste of their own medicine.
-Damn, our girls got their butts kicked by Cedric. Good thing he got what he came for, or he would've finished them off.
-And, Will/Matt 'shippers will pleased to know that Matt came in right at the end. (You could tell it was him by the hat.)
Overall, another winner. I'll give this week the same rating I gave "The Key": 9.0.

Being that I missed the two weeks prior episodes, is this the third episode in the series? I wasn't sure if the episodes airing on the other channels are different from the one airing on ABCF on Saturdays

Irma's dad appeared too.
I wonder if they ever plan on killing Yan Lin off or if that would be too much for Disney. I know they don't have problems with it for their movies.
One thing I didn't like about this episode was this: We see Will get peeved at Irma/Cornelia for throwing the party, then we just leave that storyline for Cedric/Caleb/Blunk until the last 30 seconds or so. It just feels kinda wasted...

Question: Can Will talk to electronic appliances in the show? Or did that not make it?I don't know it about the show, we in the Netherlands have to wait for at least three months.
But Will CAN talk to electronic appliances. Her pc and printer are a married couple, her cell-phone is a telephone network spy and the fridge acts as a butler. Next to that Will can talk to animals, just like Cornelia talks to trees and plants, Irma to the water, Taranee to fire and Hay Lin understands the air.

Considering the fact that the show hasn't exactly been following the comics too much so far (except for the characters and main plot), I highly doubt it's gonna happen.

Yea, I've started reading the novelizations that have been released in the US. But that ability hasn't been seen so far in the show.
Here's hoping Irma turns somebody into a frog soon. :)

-So, the pronounciation of Elyon's name is Elle-ee-on. I had always thought the name was supposed to be said Elle-yon. I liked her introduction. It was probably done that way to imply Elyon right now is just another girl living in Heatherfield. If it was some super sequence with lightning flashes in the background or sequence, anybody who hadn't read the original books would instantly know there was something strange about her.
-Trying to differentiate this transformation sequence from last week's, they used either a remixed version of the transformation music, or a different part of the same track. It still sounded well done in the show.
-Hay Lin's hairstyle today resembled that of Musa's from Winx Club. I don't know if that was done intentionally or not this week by the animators, but I found it interesting.

The new avatar alone should tell you which girl I've fallen in love with. :anime:
I thought this was an awesome episode! Pretty much every character in the show and then some not only had something to offer, but something amusing to boot! A few of my key notes:
- I've heard of some weird pet names for parents giving their children, but Will being named 'Pink Poofy Perky Pumpkin' (Hope I got that right)? And Irma had to overhear it too, so now she's never gonna let Will live it down!
- Will's name may be in the episode title, but Irma was at the forefront here! From hosting the party she didn't even want to throw, to imploring her parents not to ruin the party (and then end up making it even better), and a whole lot more! She's just way beyond cute, too.
- Quote of the Week (QotW): I did this for 'Winx,' so I'm gonna start doing it for this show too! Will's pet name would've done wonders, but Taranee, trying to get Will and Irma to change for the party without telling them they're going to one, spurts out this line, which gets a great reaction from the duo:
"I got you these outfits so you don't look like pigs!"
The only minor quibble I have is the influx glut of new characters in this episode. Even though it's only Episode 4, I still thought that there were too many new bodies to keep track of for one thirty-minute episode. Granted, if I had read the books I probably wouldn't be making this argument... and it does not take away anything from what was practically a flawless episode.
Yes, even if the girls did get their butts kicked. :p
10 out of 10 for "Happy Birthday Will."

1. Did Will's mom just call her pink perky?! Would a parent say that to his/her daughter? :o
2. Seems everyone was hitting on the weird boy, Caleb, including Elyon from the mall - making Cornelia jealous and later put on a move of her own. :anime:
3. Heh, Irma has some considerate parents staying out of the way upstairs. :D
4. Hay Lin in a china dress - what a surprise.
5. How the heck did Taranee know exactly what birth record was missing (girl, 13 years ago) just by a quick look and in the dark?
6. Cornelia sure gave her heart out protecting the girls and, of course, Caleb from Cedric's whoopass. :)
7. Haha! How could somebody out of nowhere just allowed to help Will? ;)
3. Heh, Irma has some considerate parents staying out of the way upstairs. :D
Gotta love the utterly bored look on their faces.

I can't stand it that you're all talking about this while the rest of europe (where WITCH originally comes from) still has to wait for it
Can someone please cheer me up with an Elyon screencap :crying:

Having not read the comics or novels or anything, that's the vibe I've been getting. It would seem like a pretty standard plot twist. As for Elyon, I'll have to watch the show again again to figure out which girl she is. She blended in that much... So for those who aren't 'in the know,' it could be a pretty big surprise.
I'm a bit disapointed that Caleb didn't get to 'go all rebel leader' on the goons. Maybe some other time.
This show has some very good quips:
"We have parties on Meridian. To celebrate [something], we roast and eat an Ox."
"We won't be doing that."
and
"I don't throw parties while you're out of town, you don't embarass me when you're in town."

That was a very funny episode. Jokes all over the place.
The plan to steal the birth records is a sound one, except that they don't really have the resources to compare that list to all the 13 year old girls currently in the city. Maybe we'll see them stealing student rosters from all the local schools next?

What's more, I found nowhere in the forum anything mentioned about the death of Yan Lin. Will's dormouse hasn't been introduced at the moment (yet). It's a real cute rampage.

I think that Yan Lin will sort of take over the Oracle's role, since Candracar didn't make it in the series...
What makes me wonder:
how can Nerissa take her revenge then if there's no such thing as Candracar, cuz we now know what the 2nd series will be about....

Eh, just make it so she just wants revenge on the new Guardians? Her goal is getting back the Heart of Candracar in her lust for power. The new Guardians are indeed to be finished off, but it was the Congregation of Candracar who banished her and put her in a sealed stone sarcophage in a mountain. She also killed another Guardian from the group she was in. Next to that she was once the best friend of Yan Lin!

Well, they mention Kandrakar in the show, but they don't really show it. Since they're doing things their own way we have to have faith in them.
The things from the comic they have in the show.
-Dean and Susan dating, and the girls being suspicious of him
-The portal in the subway
-Uriah and the gang breaking into city hall is played out the same way they broke into the musuem in the comics.
-Cedric's human form and bookshop being revealed
-Will gets captured instead of Taranee, but not from Frost.
-Vathek is revealed to be a "traitor" from the beginning, instead of issue 6.
-Caleb might be a whisper, but I'm not sure
Maybe they want Blunk to take the place of the dormouse. :p

-The fortress of Kandrakar is a gathering point for the Sages, coming from many different worlds. So there are aliens involved. Besides of that it's the second home of the Guardians. It's also the transfer gate between Earth and the many worlds those Sages come from.
-Blunk in the place of the dormouse sounds revolting to me. I prefer imagining a dormouse biting Cedric's tail to save its master. To show you that you only have to look here (http://home.zonnet.nl/m.th.joustra/teksten%20Witch/engelstekst.html) and click '8. The black roses of Meridian'.
-This Friday I get the next W.I.T.C.H. comic, in which the endgame between Nerissa and Will is to be seen.
