Ok, it's only twenty minutes into this episode and I already think this is the most bizzare thing I've seen on TV since David Lynch's Twin Peaks! That deer (or was that an elk?) eating scene....did they have to go there?
And to think all she had to do was eat Iams cat food to return herself to a healthy weight!

Ok, this show even got more unrealistic at the end! A totally HOT BABE gets a Looney Tunes cartoon for her birthday and LIKES IT! Where do I find girls like that?

Spoilers:
I thought this was just a bad, bad episode. First of all, it was practically a carbon copy of the 'Freeze Boy' ep where the kid had to suck all the heat out of people to survive, only now it's Clark's other friend that's in need of saving. :p
The whole fat girl story was just insulting. The extra-large mouth symbolism really unnecessary.
Why exactly is Lex playing matchmaker? There's an ulterior motive for everything else he does, right?
More Metropolis references. Metropolis University, Metropolis Hospital, Dad's going on business to Metropolis for a few days...Whitney's trying out for Kansas State???? Maybe in this universe we're just supposed to assume Metropolis is IN Kansas?
And Clark, for God's sake just tell Lana your friend had an accident and you had to rush him to the hospital instead of letting her think you're being clueless and thoughtless!
After such a good Buffy episode this was a real let down.

Man, reviews are sucking so far, I thought it was ok except for the bad guy, i payed more attention to clark and lana, I think thats what appeals to the audience more, because we/I/they can compare to the heartbreak or not being accepted. Just my opinion, which seems to be something you guys arn't agreeing with often, but someone must agree.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I mean, why not just tell her that he had to help a friend who was in serious trouble, instead of acting like he forgot or whatever?

After last week's episode, this one was a real let down. But what did that Entertainment Weekly article say again? They were only going to do six "villian of the week" episodes and move onto bigger and better things? I didn't check out next week's preview (dang, I always forget to do that!) but I am hoping this is the last we see of this kind of dreck.
Her big mouth kinda reminded me of Ash from Army of Darkness!

Well, I am now more anxious then early today to see this new episode, so that I can see if it's really as bad as I'm hearing so far! I've got 58 minutes till then, lol. And then I'll get to see this bad episode for myself...

The Buffy ep was meh in my opinion.
This ep was ok I guess. The drop-jaw fx was kind of freaky, but then again I think I remember something exactly like that on the X-Files. At this point I'm watching the show to see the character interactions, to see Lex's descent into evil, and to see Clark's rise to Superman. The villains havent passed 4 on a scale of 1-10 so far.
Cal, I assume the movie had sentimental value, I thought it was the movie that she saw with her parents. But I was kinda wondering how Clark knew which movie it was, since I dont remember her mentioning the name. But I guess Lex's connections...
As for the villain of the week, even though they are planning to move away from it, as far as I know, it's still a big part of their early stories. Maybe the final 9 eps will reflect more of a difference.
I also dont understand why Clark just doesnt tell Lana he had to help Pete and Jodie. And anyway in a small town like that, news like that is gonna spread. Heck, Pete would vouch for Clark anyway. Little incongruencies like that cheese me off.
Was the minerologist's name, Dr. Hamilton? Like the Hamilton from Star Labs?

I liked half of this ep and didn't like half of it. The stuff with Jody and the consuming of fat to stay alive got a little corny.
The plot dealing with Clark and Lana was cool. He would be doing so much better with her if he would just tell her the reasons for his absence. It's not really that hard Clark! I knew he would do something with the Looney Tunes movie after she mentioned it to him. It was a cute ending. Lana is really hot and things seem to be developing for Clark, but she could use a bit of an edge. She's almost too nice and good.
Oh, and the Metropolis references are getting annoying. Maybe the meteor shower wiped out everyones memories or the REST of the country except for good 'ol Metropolis.
Lex is getting better and better each episode. Sure, he's trying to hook Lana up with Clark, but his suspicions about Smallville in general are going to lead to some very interesting stories down the road.

I know I won't be making any friends here, but I have to be honest.
The show smallville is a huge disappointement for me so far. Don't get me wrong, I love Superman and Batman(Well i like Batman better) and I so wanted to love this show. But so far we get a crappy kryptonite villain of the week and the relationship that keeps turning around and seems to be going nowhere.
The only thing that keeps me still watching the show so far is Lex. The character is interesting and keeps getting better each week.
I really hope that the show gets better in the second half because I'm really tired about it right now. It's like I can tell in advance what is going to happen before I see the show and that in my book, no matter how much i like the characters, is poor entertainement.
Superman the animated series had better story lines than what I've seen so far.
I still think they should have gone with a young Bruce Wayne.

--had so many errors in it is was actually painful for me to watch.
(1) Although there are products that can burn fat fairly quickly, in mere weeks (visit my website and you'll see what I use), there's still loose skin and muscle to deal with. Extremely heavyset people who lose fat rapidly (i.e. through liposuction, like John Popper of Blues Traveller) often have to have the loose flesh stapled back. Jody would, if her fat stores vanished that rapidly, resemble a pudding, with her skin hanging off her all over the place--hardly the toned supermodel she became in two days.
(2) The fat-sucking vampire story appeared--and was done a darn sight better on--X-Files. Moreover, the kryptonite allowed her to dislocate her jaw like a snake? It affects bones and tendons as well as metabolism?
(3) Why fat-sucking? Why didn't she just eat the flesh and hair off the deer's bones and leave a picked skeleton behind? Or would no one think much of a pile of bones, figuring a dog or coyote did it?
(4) Hamilton is black and a discredited scentist, which is a total trip into left field for the Superman mythos.
(5) Wouldn't Chloe get suspicious that a locked door's knob would just "happen" to fall off? Note also the broken door and the bent steam pipe in the basement. Clark leaves innumerable clues behind, and Chloe's no Woodward and Bernstein if she's not sensing something about him at this point....
(6) Whatever happened to Jody? How does one treat a condition like hers? Sooner or later her body may just cannibalize itself and collapse from the inside. And what'll her father be told when he gets back? As for her victim, will he survive? Sloppily done; too much left up in the air.

She is a pretty poor journalist if she doesn't pick up on the things the good Dr Belch mentioned. I also was thinking, "Oh, she's gonna see the broken lock and know something is wrong!" She's the type to look for clues and pick up on the bizzare. Are we supposed to assume since she has a crush on Clark that it blinds her to the unusual things about him? Clark is pretty sloppy around here, as he was when he rescued her from the ice boy. For her not to notice these things is completely out of character for her.

It was an OK episode. I myself don't care for the kryptonite villains since they're not really important. I think it's a matter of time before Chloe puts 2+2 together and demand answers from Clark. She's the "Lois Lane" of the series, after all.
I think Jody will be back later on. Like others have said, there's no way anybody will find a treatment for her "disease" save for maybe Lex. Maybe he'll make a deal with her or something.

KA? What state is that? The initials for Kansas are KS.

I really didn't care for this ep. Everyone else has once again beat me to posting all the things that were wrong w/ it. Everything w/ Lex was cool though.

I'd have to agree, after now seeing the episode, with what most people are saying. The "villian" of this week was a lot like last weeks with that guy needing body heat, and how if it's not one friend Clark is helping, it's another. And once again, he let Lana down, and once again Lex was cool and "evil" like at the same time. And what can I say...I liked it! lol. It was an allright episode to me, my fav part being the ending with the old movie thing for Lana, which I knew he'd do from the moment she told him about that memory. If you just pay attention to Lana and Clark, then yeah, it was another good episode.

I thought it was a pretty decent episode, yeah there was the same villain of the week again but this villain I actually felt sorry for unlike the previous ones who I didn't care if they either lived or died. I felt sorry for jodi, she wasn't really evil. :(
Clark's got the worst luck, everytime he gets a break with lana, emergency calls!
I gotta give it to clark tho, that was smooth in the end with the gift! and God Dam lana's Hottttt!! :D

I wasn't nitpicking your post, it's just that I didn't notice the letter in the show, and I thought if it really did say KA then either there's another state I don't know the two letter initial of or perhaps they were doing a Simpsons type thing where the exact state Metropolis is in is a secret! So I take it the envelope had KS on it in the show?
