I was just wondering the other day: What do you think of Samauri Jack? I think it's a pretty cool cartoon. I'll admit that I don't worry about missing an episode, but when I can catch the show, I watch it and enjoy it.

Another thing I've been wondering: Why isn't Justice League and Samauri Jack on Toonami? They seem much more like Toonami shows to me than typical Cartoon Network shows. Do you agree?

*Two notes to make here: (1) I wish that Toonami would gets its own TV Cable Channel (just like Boomerang is a spinoff TV Channel of Cartoon Network). (2) Most of the TV shows on this list I LOVE, but there are a few I "like" (Example: Samauri Jack) or just "tolerate" (Example: He-Man & She-Ra). However, I feel that every TV show on this list, whether it's a favorite of mine or not, deserves to be on this list.

So, what do YOU think?!? Let me know if I left any TV shows off this list that you feel deserves to be part of the "Dream" Toonami Lineup.

P.S. -- I'm compiling this list of TV shows for a "Dream" Toonami Lineup so that, once it's completed, I can send it to all my cartoon-loving friends on and off the Web, who will forward it on until it becomes a full-fledged proposition to the executives at the Cartoon Network to purchase some (if not all) of these TV shows' rights (most are pretty cheap, I'll bet) and make Toonami its own channel!!! ;)

Oh, and of course, Toonami could show all the movies connected to all the TV shows on this list whenever they want.

Just a few of MANY examples:

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman: Sub-Zero

Transformers: The Movie
G.I. Joe: The Movie

Dragonball Z: Dead Zone
Dragonball Z: The Tree of Might
Dragonball Z: World's Strongest

...etc.

Well, as my father says, "It never hurts to ask. The worst they could do is tell you 'No.' " :D

Oh, there are so many...

*Voltron
*Voltron 3rd Dimension
*Transformers(not the freaky anime versions)
*Record of Lodoss War (I love it on Reactor, but I'd still rather see it on Toonami)
*X-Men
*Batman...

And somewhere in my far out pshyco dream world....Escaflowne!

My only fear is if there was a Toonami channel, it would air Dragonball Z as much as Cartoon Network airs Scooby Doo. It seems like they give over exposure to one thing for a long period of time, but I guess it's to make money, and Dragonball Z makes money.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Voltron! I'll add that to my list on my Microsoft Word document. But I don't know anything about Record of Lodoss War, or that other show you mentioned...

As for Dragonball Z, every TV channel has to have its "bread and butter" show. For Toonami, that happens to be Dragonball Z. I'd rather a Toonami channel play Justice League more than anything else, but I'd love a Toonami channel SO much, that them making Dragonball Z their "bread and butter" is fine with me. After all, Dragonball Z is an awesome show too! :D

This idea was inspired by reading about how the Boomerang channel was formed. Boomerang was an idea by person in their 40's who wished that their favorite classic cartoons would have a channel all to themselves, and not be mixed in with more modern Cartoon Network cartoons.

So, he (or she, I don't remember which) started a list of a "dream lineup" for this Classic Cartoons channel, and then the idea spread around the Web for several months. By then, a long list of people had formed who claimed they would watch such a channel if it actually existed. Once the Cartoon Network saw that there was a market for a Classic Cartoons channel, they needed no more convincing. Thus, we now have the Boomerang channel (Cartoon Network chose that name, not the original person whose idea this channel was), a channel all by itself, made up of classic cartoons from 1958 to 1976.

It seems to me that Toonami was such an awesome idea, and there are SO many Toonami-style shows out there (such as all our Dini/Timm DC Universe shows, for example), that if Boomerang can make a profit, then Tooami would make a killing.

Plus, it would provide a permanant (and comfortable) home for all our Dini/Timm DC Universe shows to stay and entertain millions of people (as well as get others to join our Bandwagon) for years. :p

Man, if Timm never had to muck around in Kids WB territory again, that would make the new network very worth while!

So please, I encourage everyone here surfing the "Batman, Superman, & Beyond" Message Boards -- spread this "Dream Toonami Lineup" list all over the Web! Copy it for yourself, modify however you wish (or think might be better), and send it on to all your friends & family members who share the same interests we do!

If it worked for the Boomerang people, then I'm thinking it's gotta work for us Toonami fans out there... There's lots of bandwidth out there in TV land! :)

(Besides, imagine a channel where you'd get 2 full hours (one episode of each show) of Dini/Timm DC Universe every day! :D )

I can imagine it! I would never have a reason to change the channel!

You mean the AniGen Board...

Anyways, I think that this is something that could easily amase a following. Toonami is the highest rated block on the network, as I'm led to believe, and having a channel devoted to Toonami would be great. Then again, this would draw away viewers from the already successful block and CB probably doesn't want this. I actually think we'll see a Toonami channel in the future. I think it';s a very distinct possiblility.

I agree. I think that a Toonami channel (especially if it had the shows described above) would quickly gain a HUGE following in the U.S. and Canada.

Plus, I could just turn it to Toonami and never have to change the channel! :D

I also love the idea of getting 2 hours of the Dini/Timm DC Universe every day... :)

everything looks good on your list except for this; 08th MS Team and Gundam 0080 aren't Gundam Wing...

Gundam Wing exists in a completely different continuity than the other Mobile Suit Gundam series...

sorry, just a Gundam fan rant... ;)

Sorry about the Gundam Wing goof.

I don't know much about Gundam Wing at all; a friend told me that those four series were all connected, and that the two 08's series were "Gundam Wing as a ground war".

So how do those four series go together? (if they do at all)

And does anyone have any other TV show ideas to add to my Toonami list? :p

Gundam Wing is in a completely different universe setting than the other three(and the rest of the Gundam series) and has no ties to them other than the fact that the mobile suits are "Gundams"...

Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Suit 08th MS Team, and Gundam 0080 are all in the same universe...

08th MS Team takes place at the same time as Mobile Suit Gundam...

0080 takes place one year later in that same universe...

it's confusing, I know, but watch them and you'll get the hang of it...

0080 actually takes place in the last two weeks of the Mobile Suit Gundam One Year War.

I agree with you Jim, having a Toonami network might draw viewers away from the current block, or perhaps the current block might decrease in quality. Anyway, the possibility of a Toonami network isn't as strong right now, but down the road I can see a Toonami network starting. Someone stated earlier in this thread that if Boomerang could make money, then a Toonami net would be able too. I agree that a Toonami network could make a profit, but I'm not even that sure that Boomerang makes money. In addition to having to make money, the network would have to be picked up by a lot of subscribers (which in turn makes the network). As to what I'd want to see, I'd probably want a Timm-DCU block on the Toonami network, in addition to a 80's block and have some old Toonami shows in the rotation too.

An 80's block would be cool, too, but I would also like to see a 70's block and even a 60's block. There were actually great shows from the past that I think could work on specialized blocks on a Toonami network.

Other shows:

Gargoyles (if they could ever get the rights from Disney)
Mighty Max
The Tick
Freakazoid (I think a parody of action shows would be acceptable on an action network)
Were X-Men and Spiderman mentioned?

Speaking of Boomerang, I thought I heard somewhere that it is commercial free like Turner Classic Movies. I don't know how it would make money, but TCM must some how.
