No, the first Zoids were the so called White Heads. Garius, Glidoler, Elephantus, Bigasauru, and others.

Cannonfort came out in 1989 (ish) when the line shifted to the Helic vs. Guylos fight and the Grade Ups started appearing.

Agreed. Both GF and Zero had their strong points and I want to seem them combined. Anyway I was curious as to when this new series was starting so I'm glad to have a general timeframe. Thanks for letting us know.

Maybe you and the american kids, but in Japan GF was very popular and Zero's ratings were crap, which is why they didn't have another series after Zero for several years.

And I enjoyed the fights in CC and GF, they were grander and more epic than Zero's flashy fights.

I'm assuming the one that looks like a cross between the Liger Zero and the Blade Liger (Murasame Liger?) will be the main character's Zoid.

I'd be thrilled beyond belief if Genesis had a main plot on the same level as GF and Zero style fighting. But realistically I'll be satisfied as long as Genesis turns out to be more entertaining than Fuzors.

I just hope that people won't be like "Oh, it's going to be like (Insert series here), thus it will suck" without giving it a chance...

No, he needs to be neither maybe just something new entirely. And I would perfer if they had flash fights and more of an ongoing plot. And for the record Zero did have plot and even a little bit of character development.

It doesn't have to be a war story, it just needs to have a great plot like CC/GF did. I mean, GF wasn't about a war, and that has the best plot of them all. Just no Zero or Fuzors esque random fighting for no reason except to sell toys thing.
