In honor of the woodpecker's birthday this past Sunday, I've posted a poll containing Woody's ten finest cartunes, favorites of members on the board. So, out of the list, what IS your favorite Woody Woodpecker cartune of the 1940s?

Well, I had to choose what's considered the best Woody ever-

The Barber of Seville

The timing to this cartune is magnificent, and it's very funny as well. Who could not forget Woody's memorable singing of the Barber of Seville? Lot's of good lines, and puns, like Woody calling the Indian chief "turkeyhead". :p

I picked "The Screwdriver". The early Woody annoying the living daylights out of a hapless traffic cop and sending him to the nuthouse... you just can't beat that for entertainment!

Some great gags...

"Brrr... is it cold in Alaska."

"What subject would like to talk about? Women? OK!"

"Is it true that speeders go like this? Ptptptptptptp... Coo coo!"

Both "The Barber of Seville" and "The Screwball" are two of my favorites as well as many of the early 1940-1941 Woodys. But my all time favorite Woody (and Walter Lantz) cartoon is "Wild and Woody." So I voted for that one!:p

I picked, "The Barber Of Seville"....It's simply a classic, and the best Woody Woodpecker of all time.

Boy, did I come close to picking "Reckless Driver" and "The Screwdriver"..... how you someone just not laugh at these jokes:

"I can't see a thing"... can you read it now?...... I can't see a thing..... I'll bet you can read it...NOW!!! SPLAT!! .... Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, This Test Stinks, and SO DO YOU!

But I had to go with "Barber of Seville". It's just plain a sheer classic, showcasing Woody in all his manic criminally insane glory. Plus, there's lots of great Emery Hawkins animation, too!!

Best Moments: "No Chiefie, me give you scalp treatment" BONG!!!

Woody looking for Figaro, and turning into the multiply-posed conglomeration of himself-

"Gone For My Physical... back Soon".... That's what he thinks ;)
