Lately I've been feeling like drawing Batman... "again??", you might wonder? Well when I finished my Nightwing DKA comic book, I felt that I had never really drawn Batman in my style, I'd always tried to stick to the Bruce Timm animated style a bit. SO before I moved on to another comic book project, I decided to do a series of illustrations to present MY personal take on Batman. Of course the BT influence is still there, but it's mixed with a whole bunch of other influences as well. Enjoy!

Nice work, Sal.
The last one is definately my favorite. The playing card in the guy's teeth is a nice touch. I like the arrangement of the buildings, too, goes right along with the line of sight. Nice work on the perspective on his arm, fun trick to use isn't it?
Nice work on the second one. His extended hand looks a bit like a cast, but again nice work on the other arm in the distance. I know you did this on purpose on the first one, but I'm not crazy about his poor posture :p. Nice palette on that one btw.
Lesse more if you have 'em :).

Well...I guess this is a welcome break from the stereotypical renditions of Batman popular today. Tall and gangly. Not to mention, it has a tendancy to make you let out a chuckle. The bright colors and goofy expressions remind me of the 60's Batman.lolI must say, EXCELLENT coloring job.It looks so neat and proffesional. You do have a tendency to lean towards drawing the Batfamily skinny don't you? Beacuse even in that Nightwing issue, even though u were drawing under the heavy influence of Mr.Timm, Nightwing looked VERY lean.
GREAT work!:)

Always in awe at your great Brush skills and confident compositions. Wonderfull trio of images. I love the all. The powerful red background in the second and the wonderful mix of line and brush work in the third. Awesome.

Hah! I love 'em. Especially the last one.
*blinks* These are just so wonderfully refreshing and offbeat and yet soooo right as well that I can't think of any adequate phrase to describe them. They almost remind me of satirical caricatures or 'nightmare / dream sequence manifestations with their gauche postures and angular limbs. The red BG on #2 makes it such a solid stand-out piece but they'll all wonderful in their own way. Simply put - too cool!

Horrible rushed job while I was eager to get down to the inks. One piece of advice gentlemen: never EVER start inking when you're not satisfied with every single detail of the pencil work.

Thanks, always a pleasure to read your comments. Indeed I do not like big muscles all that much. Must be some sort of freudian anti-Bruce Timm style feelings due to my growing up with that damn Timm style... or something :) To me Batman just doesn't need to be that bluky, he just gotta be scary. And in a way, in this design, he is.

The powerful red background in the second and the wonderful mix of line and brush work in the third. Awesome. Thanks mate. I was pretty happy with the inks on the last one. When I usually mix different techniques of inking, the result doesn't look all that swell. Here I was relieved to create SOME harmony between the pen lines and the brush strokes.

Tim Burton's drawings have always had a certain influence on my work... I guess it explains the nightmarish creepiness!

Veeeeery different. Which of course is what makes it so eye-catching and interesting. Your art style is very different from what I'm used to, in all ways imaginable, and it's great to check out your work - so refreshing and...odd shall I say, haha.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one that wanted to chuckle. For some reason the first image really made me giggle. Perhaps because that bottom black border on the image made it seem like the perch he was on was like only a foot off the ground...which then made the image of him looking all stern with his cape billowing behind him so amusing.
Third one is probably my fav as well, mostly for the dynamic use of dimensions within the image. The city buildings in the back, the dead guy in the very front; and especially the proportions and dimensions just with Bats, with a hand behind his back and him leaning forward.
All very very cool and sharp and different. yay!

Well, I must say its a deffinate unique take on the caped crusader! :p
You know... Id love to see you do a story for Batman in this style because Id love to see how youd do with it. The reason why is cause even the form of him isnt a conformed version we are all used to seeing, the line work and coloring make it pop. Its reminscent to Matt Wagners stuff he did for Grendel Tales (especially the "4 Devils, 1 Hell" Storyline) but with a more illustrative style. You deffinately have a style that would sell!
Good work My Parisian frien "pats your head* :p
