Now that I've polished off Zeta like the juicy $120 animated steak that it was, it was time for me to move on to other Gundam stuff. So, I figured I'd look at the Gundam Evolve shorts, just to see the cool CGI.

Anyway, Gundam Evolve is a series of shorts that came with model kits. Each one focuses on a different character and/or mobile suit, ranging from Amuro's private thoughts before battle to the test run of the GP03, to an alternate scenario in Char's Counterratack.

In any case, I got up to #3, the God Gundam short. The skit starts out with Domon in God Gundam practicing Tai-Chi sometime after the Gundam fight, only to be interrupted by a very angry Rain in a rebuilt Rising Gundam, who accuses him of being unfaithful. Unwilling to talk it out, Domon and Rain go at it, ending with the collisions of the God and Rising Finger attacks.

The movie is over, but there's a shot of the God Gundam's head defaced by graffiti, saying "Adulterer", "Go repent", and "Blockhead".

So, is that the end of Domon and Rain as a couple? Or was I reading too deep?

I don't know. After doing that silly(but cool) pose to defeat the Devil Gundam I thought theiir love was unbreakable. She's probaly just pregnant. Women always seem to get extra hormonal when their expecting.

I'd say you're taking it too deep. What I took from that is that Domon sneaked off to do some training and Rain somehow got the wrong idea that he was in fact seeing someone on the side. At times I have to wonder if the people behind that Evolve short were familiar with the series- the first half is excellent, but the second half breaks down into comedy and has some inconsistancies. As far as the series goes, Rising is never shown to have a 'Rising Finger' and all Finger attacks shown are in the form of the hand glowing. What Rain does more resembles the Sekiha Tenkyoken, which Domon uses in the short. Stranger still, she's somehow able to do this with one hand when the greatest martial artists are require two. I realise it's a case of "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned", but it's an annoying inconsistancy. Lastly, the animators have the back of God Gundam's legs open to gather energy for Hyper Mode. As far as the series showed, all that was housed there was extra thrusters. Bandai's model and CGI department seem to mistakingly think they work as energy gatherers.

Rising Gundam does have a Rising Finger. It's listed in the tech specs, even if it was never used on the show. Although I didn't know if it was supposed to shoot a Kamehameha...

You appear to be going based on MAHQ's specs, which if you'll note at the bottom points out that it's used both the show and Evolve as a reference. The official specs found on the DVDs and GundamOfficial.com don't list it.

Eh. It's probably just one of those lover's spats... G Gundam style.
