EA now has a controlling stake in DICE
The Press Release (http://www.gamegossip.com/pressrelease.php?id=11694)
More On DICE from IGN (http://games.ign.com/objects/026/026597.html)
Note: As I understand it, EA already had a stake in the company, this was not ahostile take over, and they were the distrubtor (which is why you see EA Games infront of BF1942) but now it officially owns the company.

Sooner or later they'll have to change their name to "EA Granada". :p
Damn.
How many companies do these guys have? Not long before they monopolize the 3rd party market

You are familiar with what EA did to Westwood, right?

Pfft... EA can have that sad excuse for an anime.
Though seriously... EA... growing and growing. I guess they already were publishing DICE titles though. (weren't they?)
They didn't get the DICE anime, they got the people that made Battlefield 1942...
This is a sad day for games, especially with EA's no M rated game policy.

Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam are immensely popular games. And for good reason too, because they're actually well made. With Battlefield 2 looming in March, this is a good move for EA, who already published the games in the US anyways.
I think this is probably the best move for EA if it helps the Battlefield franchise (which was basically all that DICE made). Compared to the other attempts / aquisitions, this one really isn't all that bad.

I know it's Digitial something something something. But I had to make the reference anyway. Bandai is obviously the one in control of all D.I.C.E. merchandise.

DICE = Digital Illusions CE btw.

I actually thought it was the anime at first. I was like "Yes! That will put them out of buisness for sure!" :p
Well...EA's got another thing tucked under the belt. Wonder what's next....

Maybe I'm behind the times, but what happened to that class action lawsuit? If that's still going on, shouldn't they be more worried about it than buying up more and more companies?

EA has to eventually run out of money sooner or later. Even their well has to run dry eventually! Then they'll hopefully stop buying out other companies...
But, given human nature, here's what I thin will happen: EA will buy so much that they will end up buying too much; then, when the company goes bankrupt, it will be split apart into several smaller companies -- suffering the same fate that it once bestowed on other companies. Life is full of poetic justice and irony, after all...
