Hey everyone,

In practically every incarnation of Spider-Man, J. Jonah Jameson, fearless Publisher of The Daily Bugle, has featured a prominant role, as both a constant thorn in Spider-Man's side, and as Peter's ill-tempered boss.

When the MTV show started air, Jonah was the subject of a lot of mixed reviews. What's your opinion of him now?

I don't understand why they just didn't use Ed Asner for his voice. The guy KNOWS the character and was even on this damn show. If Asner had no part with MTV Spidey, I would b eless irritated by this.

I agree! I kinda like Officer Barr and all, but not having Asner voice the character was completly and utterly stupid!

I don't really mind MTV Jonah all that much, to be honest, but Asner voicing him simply would've made his character so much better. I do feel however, that a lot of the fun that usually comes with Jonah was lost, simply because whenever he saw Peter, there was no one else around. I really missed the likes of Robbie and Betty. Stupid MTV! :)

It's just occured to me... in all the show, Jonah and Spider-Man never actually met face to face, did they?

The guy they got voicing JJ was wrong for the part. It was a bad attempt to recapture the movie version played by J.K Simmons (because this show was based on the movie continuity and stuff) and it just sucked. The fact that they had the best JJ to date (Asner) voicing a friggin cop made it even more glaring.

The "MTV" Jonah was a blatant and poor copy of the movie version. As much as I love the movie version the cartoon equivilant just couldn't capture the performance of JK Simmons. Still Ed Asner will always remain the best JJ for me. He's the one I grew up with and made the role his own.

I must agree that the MTV JJ was very sub-standard and couldn't match up to JK.
