Do you think that classic animated cartoons (Theatrical & Televison) are starting to fade away in today's modern time?

Yes. While the WB, MGM, and Popeye cartoons will always have wide exposure, there are so many other studios who's product is being forgotten. The Lantz, Paramount, Terry, UPA, Screen gems, D-F, Iwerks, and Disney cartoons all have little to no exposure on TV, video, and DVD (this will soon change when Disney releases those DVDs in December, but that doesn't help the other studios).

Why doesn't Fox air it's *good* Lantz cartoons? A few of the new Woody Woodpecker show episodes are okay, but they pale in comparison to even Paul Smith's cartoons of the 50s (based on the few I've seen). and Nick could easily play some Paramount and Terrytoons, even if it were at an undesirable time. It isn't like they'd have to pay for the rights to them. The Pink Panther is still popular, and I still don't get why no one has picked up "Totally Tooned In" over here...

And WB still needs to restore the LTs and MMs!

I am really irked by what the Disney Channel has done to their classic cartoons (and other classic programming). Not only did they severely censor them to death, but they also remove them to early morning hours when everyone is asleep. I am glad that they are releasing these classics on DVD.

I'd settle for a VHS or DVD release of toons from ANY of the studios Jack mentioned (a Lantz release would be particularly sweet).

...as for this new DVD Disney release, I'm skeptical. Will we get a DVD full of edited and inoffensive cartoons? Remember Pecos Bill and Fantasia....
