I think they said new episodes might be oredered by cartoon network at the end of the initial run of the completed episodes, to be honest I still prefer BB the Justice League, so I am crossing my fingers for a fourth season, what do you guys think the possibilites of that are? maybe we should start a petition for it to continue

A petition wouldn't help. The chances of getting new episodes is very, very, very, very, very slim. Micrscopically slim. The team behind the shopw have split up and gone their seperate ways in at leats five different directions. I don't think we'll be seeing new episodes for the foreseeable future. None of the people behind BATMAN BEYOND don't express interest in doing new episodes. And with WB abandoning it, I'd say it's future is already decided.

:( what about a DTV movie ?

James Harvey
11-26-2001, 07:42 PM
Same deal. Any chances for a fourth season or a 2nd DTV movie was crushed when WB put the axe to ROTJ. While the edited version is being released, that is the last we'll see of any "new" Batman Beyond material.

a dissapointment indeed... :( ohh well when Im king of the world Ill buy the series and restart it myself :p

Yeah, wish we could get more episodes too... but at least we get Justice League. Not a bad tradeoff, all things considered.

What about comics?

The comics are dead too.

On that comics continnum that one WB exec said, "Maybe we haven't seen the last of Terry McGinnis"..... If everyone's split up, then what's he talking about?

Well I seem to remeber that he'll be popping up in an upcoming Superman Adventures comic, and maybe they could somehow get him in Justice League, or a non-animated series comic. Somehow bring him into the regular comic book Batman continuity.

That quote was from May. Comics Continuum is infamous for using the same quotes over and over. The recent little article the site had on JL's Aquman was mostly information from when Aquaman's appearance was announced way back in June. Things have drastically changed since that quote was said.

Even though it looks unlikely, never say never. After all, who would have thought that Timm's Batman could have survived almost ten years and has spanned four series?

I am sure there will be a revival of sorts sometime in the future, just not in the forseeable one.

"Maybe we haven't seen the last of Terry McGuiness."

Doesn't mean it's gonna happen next week. Could be a few years, might never happen, who knows?

And between JL and Batman Beyond, I'll take JL anyday. Heck, I'll take JL over any show.

Well, maybe not. The Batman Animated Newsletter always says that there is a possibility of a second Batman Beyond movie, which would most likely focus on whatever happened to Nightwing, so you never know. I'd LOVE to see something about Nightwing, personally.

Don't expect to see that DTV anytime soon. the Newsletter's had that info up for months, and last we've heard from Dini, all that being done are the 4 Batman DTV's (possible team-ups), ROTJ unedited and B: TAS DVD's. Please, GOD, let them be in season sets!

*chants* Seasons! Seasons! Seasons!

If they don't release it in season sets, I'm not buying it. I'll just record all of them off Cartoon Network this spring.

James Harvey

Season sets are highly unlikely. Just prve to WB that the demand is there (and it has to be high) and they will deliver. So far, only Batman DVD/DTVs are coming...

well personally I'd love to see Batman Beyond released on DVD in sets but I know that has like a 1% chance so I'm taping them...

being the big BB fan I am I still want to hope that maybe...one day the team will come back for one more movie...or maybe only part of the team, I still hvent quite warmed up to justice league..its pretty good it just doesnt have enough Dark Knight for my tastes, hah one can only dream...

I agree - and I wish they'd air BB more often, like in the evening AND early in the morning (3am-ish) for those of us that missed the first airing (they'd be duplicates).

All CN has to do is stop airing DEXTER'S LABORATORY three times in a row - geez, they air their Cartoon Cartoons waaaay too much. They either need to make a separate Cartoon Cartoons channel, or a separate Toonami channel if they want to air their $5-an-ep shows all the time.

Calhoun07

Which do you think is more popular? Cartoon Cartoons or Toonami and Adult Swim? I personally think that Cartoon Network should spin Toonami and Adult Swim off into it's own network, and leave the Cartoon Cartoons right where they are.

Calhoun07
11-28-2001, 09:27 PM
You know what...that got me thinking...maybe I should continue that question on the Adult Swim board! Ok, we can get back on topic now!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a DTV? I'm assuming Digital Television, but I'm probably wrong. Man, I feel like a dope for asking...

it's a Direct To Video movie.

I hate how WB treats such a cool property as this. Beyond has potential to be a really cool DVD set. Heck - the show is perfect for DVD. The great futuristic visuals and the sound effects (which are great) and the great fight scenes. The BATMAN BEYOND: THE MOVIE DVD is great. The episodes look really nice on it. I'd like to see more...

The sound track and the visuals were obviously created to be enjoyed in a digital format. Oh, well. One day there will be a way we can get them on DVD.

I completely agree. However, as bad as the situation could be for DVD sets, it's still not as bad as the insulting toy line that is out! How many crazy costumes can one man wear? Can you actually picture Terry or Bruce stepping out in a neon green, bright orange or baby blue costume, etc...? It's craziness! I know that to sell toys, they have to make the occasional repaint, even in stupid colors, but enough is enough. Too bad they wouldn't have focused on making new figures instead.

What bugged me the most was the near-impossibility of finding a regular BB-style Batman figure. Not Ice Dominator Batman or Poultry Defender Batman, but just a nice, normal, black-and-red figure. I admittedly don't scour action figure aisles on too regular a basis, but I did try to keep my eyes open, and I didn't see such a figure until the Return of the Joker line hit store shelves.

Out of curiosity, in the history of toys, has there ever been anything as unattractive as the Virtual Joker?

It's true. A normal figure is very hard to find. And if you're talking about that weird-looking, clear plastic Joker head thing, it certainly is unattractive! What is the point of it anyway?

The Batman Beyond toy line holds the title for Worst Toyline Ever. The Batman figures were all overly-muscled and there was never a basic Batman figure (the closest we could come was the slightly transparent version that was part of a Return of the Joker line).

And there were no villains! All we got was two crappy Joker figures (one "virtual" and the other a repaint that looked nothing like Joker from ROTJ), two Jokerz figures, and a curiously nude Blight figure.

Awful. I hope that Hasbro learned its lesson (then again, I hope for world peace as well...).

Nothing can be as overly-muscled as the first line of the new Star Wars figures. Remember that stupid figure of the ridiculously buff Luke Skywalker with the bare legs? (I wonder if Mark Hamill thought "I WISH I looked that good!") What were they thinking?!

And you're right about the nude Blight. I never thought of it that way! Good observation.

I'm noit even a toy collector and I could smell the stink that line was making a mile away. They did about 200 Batman figures - VARIANTS! I think I only saw about 5 normal looking ones -- MAX!

You guys obviously have never seen the super-rare SWAT Kats action figures...
