For some reason it felt like a small month for Marvel, but after putting down the comics I'd get, it was basically the usual. I think my next cut decision will probably be between MK: Spidey and ASM, I haven't been amazed by Millar so I'm giving the next guy a chance to spark my interest, but right now I'm liking ASM more, the cover for April looks pretty good.

Howdy,
Merged Nick K.'s old thread and the official one. Can't quite figure out how to move Brian Cruz's post to the top, though.
The good news is that Marvel seems to be more willing to try out new titles series as limited series, instead of doing the "ongoing that turns into a limited" thing.
I love the parody of everything Marvel and DC with GLA. Putting Dan Slott's name on it is just the icing on the cake.
Other than that, I'm probably pre-ordering the Black Widow TPB, the She-Hulk v2 TPB, and maybe the Captain Britain TPB. That Steve Ditko Visionaries HC is awfully tempting, too.

Amazing Spider-Man #519 Cool cover, although Spidey's a bit too muscular. The story sounds interesting.
Marvel Knights: Spider-Man #13 I'm wondering how Hudlin will do taking this book over. MJ looks great in MK, as usual!
Toxin #1 A trial issue for me. I liked his character in the Venom VS Carnage mini, I wonder if he can hold a book on his own [altough it seems like the team doesn't believe in that; Spidey guest-appears, a different guest villain every month...]
Spectacular Spider-Man #27 The last issue [of Jenkins]... sniff. Nice cover too.
Spider-Girl #85 Coincidentally, a few days ago I was wondering when a few of Spider-Girl's 'old' villains would return, it seems like that moment has come ;)
Ultimate Spider-Man #75 % #76 HOBGOBLIN!
G.L.A. #1 This seems like fun!
New Avengers #6 I'm going to continue picking this title up, as long as it keeps interesting as it's been so far :)
X-Men: Phoenix - Endsong #5 I'll flip through this and see if it's interesting, but I really dig that cover!
Is this "huge" break-out in continuity? It seems like it, as it's mentioned in New Avengers, Toxin and that Spider-Man mini. If they execute it correctly, it could be really cool :) It kind of reminds me of Knightfall though, with the Arkham break-out... but that could be because I just re-read all three of those TPBs :P

I was just looking at the solicitations and saw the TPB for "WOLVERINE: ENEMY OF THE STATE". This sounds like an interesting read but I got a question about it. I don't read his comic but I am a fan of Wolverine, so as someone who doesn't read his comic would it be worth it for me to get it or would I be better off not getting it?

SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #27 - Jenkins delivered amazing work alongside Buckingham in PETER PARKER, and those self-contained stories were very, very good. So it looks like I'll be grabbing this.
ULTIMATE 2 #5 - Thor's really turned into my favorite character of the series...can't wait for this.
DAREDEVIL #72 - After the astonishingly bold cover for DD 71, the rest will seem pretty run-of-the-mill, but it does make a nice little continuity thing. This story's gonna be awesome.
ASTONISHING X-MEN #10 - And the book is delayed. With Cassady on art, it's little surprise, but still, it blows.
Not much of any real notice, but still...looks like a pretty solid month for my stuff.

It looks like a rather dull month overall. I really doubt I'll be reading Marvel Knights: Spider-Man after Millar leaves. The comic that has me the most excited is undoubtable Spectacular Spider-Man #27. I am really glad they brought the old creative together or Jenkins and Buckingham for one more story. While this comic was subjected to pointless crossovers and cut down too early it will at least get the seond off it deserves.

I'll second everybody else's sentiments and note that this seems like a bit of a dull month. I'm rather perplexed by this "It's Spider-Man month!" thing. When you're Marvel, isn't every month "Spider-Man month"?
At any rate, I'm actually planning to abandon the Spider-Man titles entirely. I love Spidey, and I don't want to do this, but I'm less-than-excited about this whole "moving in with the Avengers" thing. It doesn't play to the character's strengths, and the thought of Wolverine hitting on Mary Jane strikes me as the probable first of what will likely be a long string of creatively bankrupt subplots. I just get the feeling that Marvel's not going to be providing the kind of Spider-Man stories I want to read right now, so I see no reason to buy them. I will say that something about Aunt May posing heroically on the cover to The Amazing Spider-Man looks very funny to me.
The one exception to this rule will be Spectacular Spider-Man #27. Jenkins is really awesome at these single-issue stories, so this is a very appropriate way to finish his run. The cover looks great, and for those of you that might be interested, Marvel has a wallpaper of it available here (http://www.marvel.com/wallpaper/index.htm).
Does Toxin really need a miniseries? Does the breakout from New Avengers? You tell me.
Spider-Man/Human Torch sounds like the antidote to the "I wish more comics were fun" blues. I'm really looking forward to it, and the "all-black" motif sounds very funny.
I'm really happy to see Marvel trying out new concepts and fresh ideas, even if it's just as limited series. That's definitely to be encouraged.
Assuming he can keep his homophobic politics out of the series (and I doubt it'll be a problem unless Ultimate Colossus makes a cameo), Orson Scott Card's Ultimate Iron Man should be very cool. I love that cover.
I'm with kid_flash on the coolness of Ultimate Thor. That's probably the biggest part of why I'm an Ultimates fan. Millar's made the character really likeable, and surrounded him with a totally fascinating mystery. Part of me wishes the ambiguity would stick around forever, Phantom Stranger-style, but it should be interesting seeing some of the questions answered.
I'm really excited about this Daredevil arc. The cover design is very cool, and I'm really looking forward to having the religious element of the character brought back into the series. That's something Bendis has largely ignored, so I'm eagerly anticipating his take on it. Hopefully Sister Maggie Murdock will show up. Her absence throughout the "Murdock exposed" plotline has been very conspicuous. If anybody's got the gall to tell Matt what he's done wrong, it's her. Also, I read the first issue of Daredevil: Redemption online, and was quite interested by it. That might be worth a look after all.
Speaking of reading first issues online, Black Panther #1 was modestly interesting but didn't blow me away. I'll give it a couple of issues before deciding whether or not I want to stick around.
Cool Steranko-inspired cover on Wolverine #27.
The biggest news this month, at least to me, is that Captain America & The Falcon is officially cancelled. I'm very saddened by this news, though not surprised, especially since Brubaker's take on Cap was so similar to Priest's. Still, it's a bummer, and I'll miss it.
Normally, I'm the first to whine about Wolverine over-exposure. However, having the character show up in The Incredible Hulk is actually perfectly appropriate, and with Peter David writing, there's not much to worry about.
Token Runaways plug: Buy Runaways.
I hadn't heard about GLA, and I'm rather happy to see it solicited. Sounds like Dan Slott is poking some much-deserved fun at the shock tactics of modern comics. I'm particularly amused by the supposed cameos of Hawkeye, Thor, and the Vision, who are all dead. That Dan Slott can bring the funny. I wonder how he really feels about "Avengers Disassembled"...
Moon Knight shows up in Marvel Team-Up. Moon Knight is cool. Robert Kirkman is occassionally cool. So there's some potential there.
Excalibur is somewhat concerning, given that it's been meandering and aimless since the second issue. It might not be the wisest idea to give Chris Claremont control of the lingering Scarlet Witch issue. I guess all we can do is hope for the best...
X-Men: Phoenix- Endsong (which is a horribly cumbersome title) has been pretty solid thus far, if a little too soon in arriving. I picked it up because I like Greg Pak, but have actually been reasonably impressed by the first two issues. I like the solicitation text this month. "As the power of the Phoenix threatens the very foundations of existence, everything comes down to the choices of one man torn between the two women he loves." Isn't that always the way?
Lots of great TPBs this month. I'm really happy to see Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes get a hardcover. It's been a really strong series, with superb art by Scott Kollins. With all this New Avengers business, the series has been a total godsend for offering up such a classic, fun take on the Avengers mythos. I'm glad Alan Moore's Captain Britain is being reprinted, and I think a TPB of all the classic Spider-Man/Fantastic Four team-ups is a great idea. I'd encourage everyone to try out the Black Widow and She-Hulk TPBs as well.
Finally, that Steve Ditko hardcover... yowza. I'm loving these "Marvel Visionnaries" collections, and I'll definitely check this one out. Here's hoping for a Jim Steranko one next...

Amazing Spider-Man: Looks interesting, but I'm not sure what to expect, and having a six issue arc seems a little much.
Marvel Knights Spider-Man: Hudlin's take sounds interesting, I'll definitely check this out.
Spider-Girl: This books is good month in and month out, I see no reason for this issue to be an exception.
District X: Looking forward to this, and hoping that this book continues to survive, because this is a damn good book.
Black Panther: This relaunch is looking like it'll be good, so I'm anxiously awaiting it.
Wolverine: Millar continues his run. A shame this will only last twelve issues.
Captain America: Brubaker has done a good job so far, and I hope he stays on the title for a long while.
Fantastic Four: Looks iffy, and its a fill-in, but I'll probably get it.
Incredible Hulk: PAD's first issue was good, and the premise here looks interesting.
Runaways: BUY THIS BOOK! BUY THIS BOOK!
New Avengers: Enjoyed the first two issues, so I'll be picking it up as long as it remains good, although I really don't feel like this first arc needs to be six issues, four would have been good.
Young Avengers: Going to be checking this out, at the very least.
Astonishing X-Men: Joss Whedon has been brilliant on this title, and he better be staying around past the end of this story arc.
New X-Men: Christina and Nunzio have done a great job with this title, and this one shot looks like it will have a lot of lasting ramifications in the title.
X-Men: Milligan's firs issue was really good, definitely sticking around.
Exiles: Bedard might finally be getting it together, this story looks like it has a lot of promise.
Uncanny X-Men: Likewise, Claremont is finally interesting me on this title, although its still not near one of my top choices.
X-Men: Phoenix Endsong: Picked up issue one on a whim and liked it. Well written, and that's all that really matters.

Well, you all may not have found much to buy this month, but I sure did!
Amazing Spider-Man #519 - Not sure if I'l be getting this or not. I'm not a big Avengers fan, and so I'm not thrilled with Spidey's involvement with the team. But, it's a JMS title, and I'm just addicted to the guy's work.
I'll definitely be dropping Marvel Knights Spider-Man. I'm not terribly impressed with Millar's work on the title, and have been thinking about dropping the book anyway. His departure will probably be a good stopping point for me.
I was tempted to pick up Toxin #1 (I'm a sucker for a good symbiote story), until I saw who was writing it. I was incredibly unimpressed with Milligan's latest issue of X-Men, and will probably be avoiding anything else I see by the guy.
Ultimate Spider-Man #75 & 76 - I swore off the Ultimate Spider-Man book a while back, because more often than not I'm disappointed with Bendis' work there. But, I've gotta see the introduction of Hobgoblin, so I'll be picking these up.
Ultimate Iron Man #2 - It's Orson Scott Card. I've gotta check this out.
Ultimate Secret #2 - I'm kinda dreading this mini, since it introduces one of my favorites (Captain Marvel) into the Ultimate universe, and it appears he's going to be all serious and edgy. But, I tend to like Warren Ellis' sci-fi stuff, so I'm willing to give it a chance.
Ultimate Fantastic Four #18 - More Ellis goodness.
Ultimates 2 #5 - I've liked what I've read so far of this new chapter, so I don't know why I'd stop reading it now.
Ultimate X-Men #58 - I love Vaughan, and so far I've liked what he's doing on the title, so I'll definteily be purchasing this one.
Strange #5 - Another JMS title. Not sure I like what he's done so far in this mini, but I'll finish it out to see where it all goes.
Wolverine #27 - Millar's run has been a fun romp so far, and it looks like the action isn't going to let up any with this issue.
Captain America #6 - I'm a huge Brubaker fan, and what he's done in the first few issues of this title has really sucked me in. I'm on this book until Brubaker leaves.
Incredible Hulk #80 - Peter David writing the Hulk again? I'm there.
Astonishing X-Men #10 - As much as I complain about Whedon's take on Wolverine, his book is still the best x-book on the market right now.
X-Men: Phoenix - End Song #5 - I actually haven't even read the first issue of this yet. I ordered it online and it won't arrive until I get my next monthly shipment. But I really like Greg Pak, I like what I saw of the first issue when I flipped through it in the store, and I've not heard anything bad about this mini yet, so I'll most likely be picking this one up.
Punisher #19 and 20 - This book is on the chopping block right now, and is really close to being dropped from my pull list. I don't know - the book really lost something when Ennis went all dakr and serious with it. I liked the insanely goofey humor of the book back before it became a MAX title. It's just too gloomy now, and has lost a lot of it's energy, IMO. Not sure if I'll be getting these or not.
Supreme Power Vol. 1 HC - A great series gets the delux treatment in hardcover format. Sounds like it's got some nice "extras", and I should get it at my online shop significantly cheaper than the suggested $30 price, so I can't pass this one up.

Decidedly not my cup of tea, and I'm not sure how this series gels with Julie Powers' upcoming appearance in Runaways v2, if it ties in at all.

Check out the talkback linked above for some comments from other TZ members. I thought the whole thing was decidedly blah. They went for the symbiote-attached-to-a-good-guy idea this time, and it reminds me too much of the whole Venom: Lethal Protector bit, which never sat well with me. Tell ya what - if you're really interested in reading it, PM me and I'll send ya my copies to read. I'm not particularly interested in holding on to them, and I doubt I'd get much on ebay for 'em.

Imay have to take you up on that. Not sure yet but possible. I wasn't a big fan of Venom: Lethal Protector. I thought the art was great but the script couldn't keep it going. Bagley's Venom will always be a favorite of mine but the idea of an underground society being protected by Venom just didn't sit that well with me. I'm going to check out that talkback thread for the mini-series before making any judgement. I may just pass alltogether. The Venom and Carnage in comics today is so different than the ones I read ages ago.
And in an effort to get this back on track:
MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #13

Written by: Reginald Hudlin
Penciled by: Billy Tan
Cover by: Steve McNiven
Hollywood heavyweight Hudlin (House Party, Boomerang) has already brought you his searing vision for Black Panther. Now he’s teaming up with red-hot artist Billy Tan (X-23) to shake up everyone’s favorite web-slinger. In part one of "Wild Blue Yonder," Peter Parker’s life is turned upside down. He’s got an incredible new pad (you won’t believe where), a new job, and — although he doesn’t know it — a new nemesis who’s everything that Peter isn’t. But first, Spider-Man’s got to deal with a more pressing problem — a shape-shifting super-villain who’s developed a nasty habit…and will do anything to feed it. And Wait — Who’s that hitting on Mary Jane!?
This actually has the potential to be really funny but I just don't know if I'm going to be staying on this book once Millar leaves. I'm not a fan of Billy Tan and I don't think his style would work well with Spider-Man. Some of the interior sneak peek pages don't look that good. The desciptionof the issue isn't completely bad but Marvel's shameless promotion of their upcoming books leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
