SUPERMAN!!!

How often did he get captured or put in a situation where all he had to do was...look...put it this way. As SeanBaby.com says...

How many kids sat there screaming at the TV.

"USE YOUR HEAT VISION YOU STUPID ****!

He NEVER used his powers when he should have...

Since all of the above was not an option, I voted for Apache Chief.

Who was Rima of the Jungle? I voted for Apache Chief, BTW.

I would say Aquaman, but the Cartoon Network commercial folks have had so much fun with him, especially in the Legion of Doom vs. Powerpuffs spot:

"Oh no! My ability to talk to fish isn't helping!"

Gawd, that's a classic.

I agree that gleek gets imunity but who in the heck is Rima of the Jungle? That is who I voted for. I liked Apache Chief.

I voted for Rima of the Jungle quite simply because she's the only one I've never seen on any episode of the Superfriends. Of course maybe she was just so pointless that my brain decided to erase all knowledge of her in order to make room for slightly more important fanboy rubbish. :p

OK, I honestly thought I had seen every Superfriends eppy ever. I have never seen Rima of the Jungle. However, I thought she could have possibly been cool (she sounds very lame now), so I didn't vote for her.

When I posted this poll,I didn't think Rima would take such a beating.I figured El Dorado(possibly an even more embarassing Mexican stereotype than Go-Go Gomez) would get the most votes.

Uh-oh. Rima is beating El Dorado. Time to do a little campaigning for E.D.

But first let's look at all of our choices.

Black Vulcan. With Black Lightning unavailable for the creative team of SF to use, we get this rip-off. At least he still has "Black" in his name, that's very important when calling out his ethnic origin. His costume wasn't as cool as Black Lightning's wide-collared, fake-afro-mask number, though. I mean, why no pants? His powers blew B.L.'s away, however.... not only did he have the tossing-lightning-bolts-around thing going for him, but he could fly. His powers also let him create cages made of electricity and time travel(?)! And Buster Jones provided a great voice for him.

Samurai. This guy had a pretty poor costume. And very skimpy. But he did have that cool bun on top of his head. As for powers, take the Red Tornado, add the Invisible Girl and toss in the Human Torch for good measure and there you go. Get him to say different Japanese words to activate his powers and you've got a winner.

Apache Chief. I'm not sure this guy was really a chief. Or an Apache for that matter. At any rate, his name had nothing to do with his powers. But at least we all knew for certain that he was an Indian. And I guess the artists on the show thought that Samurai's costume was a little too flashy, because they really stuck it to the Chief. I love the fact that the above three all had open-chested shirts and bare legs. A little something for the ladies I guess.

At least those three losers made it onto the cool "Challenge of the Super Friends" year of the show.

Now on to El Dorado and Rima...

El Dorado. This guy was like an after-thought sometime after "Challenge." The all white male creative team of the cartoon was sitting around saying to themselves, "Let's see, we've got a black hero, an Asian character and a native American. That takes care of every significant minority in the USA, right? Oh wait..." So they create a hispanic character and name him after a city. Brilliant.

At least Rima was an actually DC comic book character. She even had her own series that lasted for 7 issues between 1974 and '75. Check out this link:

http://www.mogozuzu.com/dc_2.htm

Rima only appeared in two short stories that I am aware of. They were "The Fire" --- Batman and Robin, accompanied by Rima, pursue two escaped juvenile delinquents driving a truck loaded with explosives within a forest fire.
And "Return of Atlantis" --- Rima and Wonder Woman try to stop female Atlantean warriors from taking over the surface world.

Sure, she was a rip-off of Marvel's Shanna the She-Devil, who in turn was a rip-off of Sheena Queen of the Jungle, who was a rip-off of Tarzan, but at least she wasn't created for the show in an amazingly shallow attempt to appeal to a more ethnically diverse audience.

El Dorado had a very lame costume (he had pants but no shirt), and a mess of super powers that seemed as though they were picked out of a hat: Telepathy, illusion-vision and a teleporting cape.

So while Black Vulcan had a stupid name and Apache Chief had a stupid name and a stupid costume and Samurai had a stupid costume and stupid powers....El Dorado had stupid versions of all three. You can pictures of all the Superfriends here :

So please, don't pick on poor Rima just because you don't remember her... vote for El Dorado, my friends (or as E.D. himself would say "mi amigos").

I said Apache Chief, his slow speaking annoyed the hell out of me. Other then that, they're all lame.

I voted Rima only because I've never seen her and I said to myself "She's so lame that I've never even seen her in an episode before!" so I went with her.

Otherwise, it's El Dorado, hands down.
