I've watched tons of BB episodes, the ROTJ movie, and read a ton of stuff. But I still can't seem to figure it out....
Whatever happened to Nitewing in the Batman Beyond series?
I haven't seen any recent episodes, but from what I know this subject has never turned up. And sorry to all those current residents here if I am asking a common question.

Nobody knows. Supposedly Nightwing was supposed to show up in the fourth season of BB, but since it was never made, what happened to him is uncertain. A lot of people have their own theories, but they'll probably post those. As for me, i just don't know.

If the series went into another season, we would have learned that Nightwing retired and was training other vigilantes.

We know one thing. Every mention of Dick points to the fact that something happened between Bruce and Dick BEFORE the ROTJ Flashback, and Dick Grayson became bitter and left for Bludhaven. Tim Drake says Terry should "look him up. Boy does he have issues..." or something like that.

The only thing I was glad to know, concerning Nighty, was that they hadn't killed him. I woulda been SO pissed had they written something like that in BB,lol. I've also heard that he was away somewhere training people. We know from Babs that they had a thing, and that she and Bruce had a thing (right?), and that there were obviously issues with that. I thought that Tim told Terry to look Dick up because he had stories to tell, but I could be wrong. Anyone here think that Terry is most like Dick? And if they brought Dick into the BB storyline, do you think he'd still be Nightwing, or just retired and teaching? And do you think he'd have long black hair or something different?

I picture an older man, slightly larger build, with a gray crewcut. That long hair doesn't fit an aging hero.

I actually picture him turning out more like Bruce Wayne than he had thought he would. I think one reason he had a falling out with Bruce is because he saw something of himself in Bruce that he did not like, and those traits he didn't like in himself that he saw in Bruce inevitably surface.

Like it or not, it usually happens that way.
Personally, I think that Nightwing did alright. I think that he left town for Bludhaven when Batman and Batgirl became an "item." Later, he founded the Titans, fell in love with Starfire, and had a child with her (Nightstar from Kingdom Come, :D). Today [Batman Beyond's time] he's still with the Titans--training the next generation of superheroes.
Only question: would he still be Nightwing or would he take the mantle of Robin again (as Red Robin from Kingdom Come)? It could work either way.

I would see him with short hair too. I tried to picture him with long hair, just gray but.....it so didn't look right, lol. That'd be cool if they threw in some comic storyline and had him married to Starfire or something. Whatever they do, I wished they just do it already and put him in BB!!!

I may be wrong, but Starfire's race made an appearance already in the Superman episode Absolute Power, so there's a slightly better possibility that they could hook up.

Is that Dinobot I see...? And nice quote too, taken from the single best episode in all TF history.

I recall Dini saying in an interview that if ROTJ did well, that he had an idea for another BB movie that would involve Nightwing. Let's hope that happens.

The Batman Animated Newsletter has always said that if a second Batman Beyond movie is ever made, it will most likely focus on whatever happened to Nightwing. Here's hoping...

Why yes it is. Thanks :D Code of Hero was deffinately the best ep ever.
Back on topic: Can you imagine Nightwing w/ his long hair, but balding in the front? Kinda like Darma's dad on Darma and Greg.
Yeah, i'm thinking he cut it.

That news is...sorta old by a month or so. I've been trying ot get the co-editor to remove it, but he keeps forgetting to. Batman Beyond is basically dead in the water. That quote "we haven't seen the last" was said in May when BB possible still had a future.

I'd actually like it if they made him go crazy like Bruce really is. His parents died in basically the same fashion (ala crime/mob/whatever) and he is instructed by the only man on this planet who has the right amount of money, talent, and psychosis to dedicate his life to fighting crime himself. But it would make for a strange twist of fate if the only two people who feel the most alike would create such a huge gap between each other.
I'd also want him to keep that trendy mullet he sports in the Batman/Superman adventures.

For the destiny of Nightwing, I think he will ultimately turn out more like Bruce Wayne than he bargained for. Bruce and Dick may not get along so well because each other see's the traits they hate about themselves in the other person. I just wonder if this means we will see a Nightwing Beyond series? (just kidding!)
Ok, Nightwing Beyond is hoakey, but have there been any stories, Elseworlds or otherwise, that have dealt with an elderly Nightwing?

I always thought it would be cool for a new series to show us what Batman (Bruce) was like when he got older. The first scene of Batman Beyond where he's wearing the same suit as Terry and in the comic, where he builds the robotic arm makes me think of how cool it would be to show Bruce as he gets older and how relationships changed over the years. It'll never happen, but still, I think it's a cool idea. (man, I just used the word "cool" three times...make that four times, in this post. I gotta think of something else..."shway" perhaps)

Theoretically, we could see events that happen to Nightwing on the Justice League show, which could roll over into a second Batman Beyond movie.

Good thinking. That would be nice to see an appearance by Nightwing on Justice League. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened eventually, either.
