there's a new show on tonight 9/8c on Fox called Point Pleasant

something about the Devil's Daughter and a battle between Good and Evil.

my brother's looking forward to it since some of the people behind Buffy and Angel are working on it. this could be the replacement show for those who miss them.

too bad it's on Fox. you know they'll cancel it if it isn't an immediate hit. which it probably won't be, seeing how it's up against Alias.

just thought i'd let people know.

Yeah, I'll be watching. Since there is some Angel/Buffy flavor behind it, I hope I get some of those same similar feelings I used to experience while seeing things like the asskicking The Beast put on Angel and his crew. Hoping it turns out good.

I never had any interest in Buffy or Angel and the promos don't look good, but James Morrison is in it. I like him, so I'll give it a chance.

I'm going to break my vow to never again watch a new Fox show. I did it for Arrested Development and I'll do it for this.

I live a couple of towns over from Pt.Pleasant. And while the story was interesting. My wife and I couldn't stop commenting how different the show locations are from the real place.

First episode was kinda eh and unbalanced. But it's showing potensial, like the preview for next episode shows that the plot and such start really in that episode. I hope this stays away from trying too hard to appeal to those teens who strain to catch the O.C. Like, I'm hoping there's a good explanation for why Jessie's girlfriend got naked, jumped in the pool(to be followed instantly by the friend, and then get boned BY the friend. Thinking there will be though, after Jessie had that dream it seemed it could be related. I don't know, maybe the girl messes with people's emotions and stuff. Overall it could be better but it shows that maybe it will be.

And wasn't the doctor the one who pretended to be Alan on 24(first season)?

It has potential. I know the girl is supposed to be the center, but if the town itself is creepy and different even without the girl and the show can tell a story without the girl sometimes, then I would have high hopes for it.

Right now it's some sort of OC with a twist (besides it being Jersey).

I am not sure of that. But, he was the lead on the Sentinel. A great show...I miss.

While the show was interesting, as someone who spent most her childhood summers at, as well as a recent visit this summer to Point Pleasant NJ, I was kinda bothered by the fact that they didn't a least try to make it look more like the actual town, instead of just another beach in California.

For one, the water was too calm and too clean. Bonfires? Not in the Point Pleasant Beach that I remember. Houses on the beach? ummm no.... Practically no shots of the Boardwalk, and there is no lighthouse in Point Pleasant. I think the closest one might be Sandy Hook, Island Beach State Park or Barnegat. theres tons more, I could go on and on.

I did like the idea that Christina's mom might be living in Ocean Grove, a somewhat religious town that still has blue laws in effect, including a ban on bathing in the ocean on Sunday. (Though I'm not sure if that is still in effect now.)

Started out good, kind of dragged in the middle when it dipped into Teen emo drama, but ended on solid and good note. The acting was a tad patchy too. At times I just rolled my eyes because of the tone and believablitly of what the characters were saying and doing (you'd think the gas attendant would've atleast FELT all that gas when he stepped in it and grabbed the pump handle).

It caught my eye, but I'm still skeptic on it's ability to retain my interest. It's certainly got a lot of potential, and if it keeps up with the tone, execution (some scenes were played out fantasticly), and story...I can see myself getting into it.

I know they film in Canada to save money. But, would it kill them to film some shows in the locals they are suppose to be?? ;) (ie-Law & Order)

I agree, they could have made some aerial shots of the town at the very least. As for Canada, PP was actually it was filmed in Southern California, according to CNN.

I actually LIVE in the Point Pleasant this show is named after, now I knew it wouldn't look like my town but c'mon...Thier isn't even a lighthouse reasonbly close to my town and, they could have at least made an effort to make it look similar.

To quote myself, this show wins the Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital Award for most apocalyptic show where nothing happens. I kept waiting for something to happen and NOTHING HAPPENED.

First off the premise of the show is ridiculous. Buffy had a similar premise but had the good sense not to take itself too seriously (at least at first). There is NOTHING funny, or neat, or cool about this show. It's just there.

Secondly, aside from some of the old pros in the show (Dina Meyer, Richard Burgi (yes the 24 and Sentinel guy), and too a lesser extent Grant Show) the acting was atrocious. If and when this show gets more supernatural I doubt I'll be finding the girl who lives with Christina believable when she talks about the end of the world when she can't sell me that her sister died.

The only cool scene in the show was when Christina was making love to the kid and she whispers in his ear that she wants him to kill her. Unfortunately this was ruined by the fact that it was in EVERY preview for the show and the fact that it was a friggin dream sequence.

I missed it. I was really looking forward to this, also. Well, it looks like some mixed signals from the crowd but then again, it's only aired one episode so far?

From what I saw of this episode, it had the same problems as the last one. (Missed the beginning) > Middle dragged > ended rather interesting. Meanwhile patchy acting throughout the whole thing.

I'm not sold yet.

I hope it will shown in our country!
I´m not a Buffy or Angel fan, but I look forward to it.
