It's so weird how our anticipation for JL was so all consuming, and now that we finally have our show, the bliss is such a calmer feeling. :) Well in any case, aside from a few BTAS/milestone fueled grievances, JL has delivered a great start, so let's keep the stories rolling, with a new FQ. With the very long history of stories Animated DC heroes alone has had, fantasize about the future and answer this:

What specific story gimmicks would you like to see done the best and most frequently in JL??
Time Travel, framed heroes, betrayals? Picture your favorite characters and think hard! :)

Gimmicks? GIMMICKS??!?

The show can't be good with out gimmicks, is that what you're saying?

Nah, you're just curious, so..

I personally hate Time Travel eps. I disliked the one they did in Superman...and I don't want to see any in this one....well..

ok, Traveling into the past == bad...
Tavelling into the future...ok..that might be cool...specially if we get some Batman Beyond action going on! WOO!!! BB!!!!
GL Beyond was groovy too, he made constructs, maybe he could teach John how to....

Framed heros....gee, 1 ep in, and we're already there...

I think, especially now in the beggining, that we need to have eps where the members are forced to work as a team....but not force it. Let it happen on accident...and let the characters realize that working together beats going solo.

There's my little thoughts...

Though that worked well for Batman and Superman's World Finest episodes, the JL is a team . They don't need excuses to get together and fight someone. Though I am interested to see how they will stay as a group. It's not like they all live in the Watchtower! Do you guys think that in order to have the Justice League, each member has given up on their private (crime fighting) lives?

The old body-switching gimmick might be fun. I'm not saying they should play it for laughs, but it would amusing to see Flash and Batman switch. Not to mention, if they left the voices with the bodies, it would be neat to hear Conroy take on being the cheeky and irreverent Flash in Batman's body.

Well..that's not what I meant..

What I was trying to say was that While they ARE a team..they (as of yet) aren't truely working like one (and if they are, they shouldn't be) They need to have fights, where they learn each others strengths & weaknesses...

I agree with your assessment, and was wondering if anybody was going to make that observation out here. So far, every "fight" that the JL has been involved in has been a sequence of individual achievement, with minimal acutal "teamwork" between the members. The only counter-examples I can think of were the "Super Sekrit" plan between J'onn and Batman, and the way a few leaguers brought down the Imperium's ship. Even the last bit was really just one leaguer picking up when another leaguer fell down and went "boom."

Even something simple like GL grabbing a bad guy and throwing him/her at Hawkgirl for a good electro-mace whack, or the Superman herding a bunch of baddies into a trap set by Batman. One of my favorite team moments from the Grant Morrison comics was when GL made a treadmill that converted the Flash's speed into sound.

So, to attempt to swing this conversation back into relevancy, the gimmick I'd like to see most is more real teamwork between members.

How bout all the members of the Justice League except for Batman go missing for a couple seasons and we see Batman's adventures in Gotham as he battles all his foes.

How could gimmicks not work? It's not like they are going to put horrible CGI in the title sequence, have a deformed Superman S, and have a pseudo widescreen.

Oh.......wait. ;)

I'd just like to see some good stories. For example, it's been a while since we've seen a villain take center stage in an episode and have a meaningful story--they were always the best (Heart of Ice, Bizzaro's World). I'm particularly looking forward to the Injustice Gang episode for this.

I'd also like to see more villain origin stories where the origin is revamped and made more plausible than the comic book version. For example, Brainiac's origin was a joke, but Brainiac's origin in the cartoon was mighty interesting...

I would really like to see the secret identity issue shown in at least one episode of JL. So we would get to see the heroes out of their costumes to show they have "real" lives outside the tights.

cysurf your idea is good,

Would won of those mis taken identies or case of the wrong suit
case make for a good comedic show,

Maybe with batman being the only one laughing at the end

How about an episode that deals with a parallel dimension much like Star Trek's "Mirror Mirror" and the Superfriends' "Universe of Evil"? If done seriously, it could provide good drama and solid action

I want a really intriguing Justice League MYSTERY more than anything that Batman, Hawkgirl, and Flash have to solve alone.

I'd like to see a real spotlight episode on J'onn. Of course I am biased, but as fans know, he's always gotten the short end of the stick, recognition (sp?) wise. Let's really see what kind of character he is in this incarnation.

In all likelihood, Aquaman will NEVER join the JLA. It would make no sense, given his personality. He will make more guest appearances, but that is it.
