HBO Family? Dang the only things I have seen on HBO Family have been really young programming except for Stay Tuned. That is an awesome movie. Who would have thunk it? Well, I hope that it will be a great show.
EDIT: I just saw LFV's quote and I hope that they DO expand [as] to seven days.

Where'd they get that from?

Where'd they get that from?
Either from their ass, or it's a rare occurance where they got accurate info.

I'm likely to believe 'their ass' until I hear otherwise from someplace with a better track record of not making things up. =/

As long as it doesn;t end up like Baby Blues or Dilbert, even though those comic strips are equally crappy as there show counterparts anyway.

I've been hearing about The Boondocks coming to TV from by brother. I was surprised and happy since thats one of my favorite comic strips. But, like what Superperson said just hope that it doesn't turn like Dilbert and Baby Blues.

I've heard a bunch of quotes from McGruder that he's sick of writing short, three panel comics and likes to branch off into longer things like screenplays, so I'm sure Boondocks will be good. I just hope he's involved with it a lot.

Well McGruder said it'll be more character centric since there taking something that takes a less then a minute to read and stretching into over 20 minutes.
I'm just curious to see how it all goes, I think it'll be pretty good though.
And its nice to see Adult Swim get a original series that isn't like the Venture Brothers or Sea Lab, even though I do love ATHF.

Well, I know the voice of Regina King as Riley is correct since I saw an interview with her on TV Guide online a while back. I'm just going to assume the other voices are correct as well.
So, where is that quote from Living Fruit Virus? What's B & C?

I'm really excited about this. I recently read The Birth of a Nation, a political satire graphic novel co-written by McGruder and Reginald Hudlin, and it was really well-done. I think it bodes well for McGruder's ability to adapt his wit and commentary for longer-form storytelling.
What's B & C?

So, where is that quote from Living Fruit Virus?
QUOTE OF THE MOMENT:
"Now the network has more animation in the works, including a show about circus characters. Cartoon Network is considering expanding the Adult Swim block to seven nights a week. The network will debut Robot Chicken, a pop-culture satire by actor Seth Green, the first week in February." -B&C (http://www.itty-bitties.com/dvdsforsale.txt)

I think he meant the mag, and Vince is correct.
Personally I wouldn't mind because so far AS has taken every night and made it profitable. Fridays isn't exactly making money off of those timeslots.

I haven't seen Baby Blues cartoon. Why is it so bad?In all honesty, it's not that bad. People just don't care for it because it's pretty cliche-sitcom. I enjoy watching it...but that's just me. It really depends on who you talk to, to arrive to the conclusion that it's a bad series.

The obstacle I see in the way of AS Friday becoming reality is that the space has become prime material for kids. It's one of the days they're most likely to stay up late, and they're already so used to their favorite shows airing at that time that they'd be likely to stay tuned.

People said that about Saturday too, but late Saturday never attained big ratings and neither does late Friday. In fact, late Friday is utilized to air programs whose ratings are so piss poor because, to CN, those timeslots are worthless. They don't even bother to edit them for content at times because they know not a lot of kids watch at that time to give a damn.

If AS wants Friday, AS will eventually get Fridays. It's just a matter of 'when' they'll get Fridays. They've got plenty of Programming coming down the pipe to atleast fill up the slot, and a increase in ratings there would only give CN the chance to point out the increase in ratings.

That explains .hack//legend. If CN figured it was gonna bomb anyway, why edit it. Noone is gonna know it's on to complain about the content in it, and the people do know it's on are happy the content is there. That said, it might as well be turned over to AS, even it's a night where AS shows go to die. That'd be better than generic CN where shows go to die, because atleast it'd be packaged in a particular franchise, and with particular advertisers.
Meanwhile, Boondocks, given the cast announced so far and McGruder's sudden interest in writing 3D characters rather than gag strips, means there is potential in the show. It has the potential to be a breakout hit, or atleast further expand Adult Swim's lock on the 18-34 audience.

If John Witherspoon really is in the Boondocks, I think this show might be really good, I think he's hillarious. Maybe if they bring Space Ghost back they can have him come on as a guest star (sorry, ever since someone posted a fake list of guests and he was on it, I've always wanted him on the show, lol.) This show looks like it could be funny and truly something different for Adult Swim. I hope it's a hit and Adult Swim could rub it in Fox's face. :D
As for Adult Swim Fridays, just do it already!! If they did it, I'd like it to be half-comedy, half-action. Also, they could start it a little later (like Midnight) if they think kids would still view after the 10-spot. If that problem did occur, they shouldn't bother with repeats. Just have a solid 5-hours of Adult Swim shows (starting off with the ratings grabbers of Family Guy/Futurma, then go to comedy shows like Mission Hill/Oblongs, Brak Show, and maybe Space Ghost, then some action shows, Case Closed, Lupin, Kikaider, etc.) I definitely see potential with that. Only bad that could come from it is no Toonami spot, people who missed a Friday show will miss their second chance at catching it, possible good byes to Gundam Seed/Cyborg 009/.hack//legend, and no chance for a classics/Boomerang spot (heh heh like it had one.)

Yeah, but that timeslot is at 1am EST (late Fri, early Sat), while CN continues to show/repeat CCFs till then. So if AS will take over Fridays, AS will have to start at 1am EST too, not the customary 11pm EST currently occupied by CCFs that CN believes kids stay up to watch.

They don't even have Fridays host bumps at midnight. If they were concerned about that timeslot they wouldn't officially end the block at 12 AM. Friday's only real concern is an overall average and the ratings of their premiere shows, which are all in the 7-10 PM hours. They don't really utilize the last 2 for anything. Sometimes they even have to fill it out with something like 2 Mucha Luchas.

It might be better for the network overall in some respects, but I kind of like having a place where shows go to die. Without that place those shows would probably just leave altogether.
While perhaps AS could take Fridays someday, I don't think they are ready yet. If they were to take it I would rather they use it for something else than just an extension of the Mon.-Wed. line-up and that would mean time would need to be spent on building AS Friday. However, for now AS Saturday is still establishing itself. Until Saturday is solid I don't think they should expand to any other nights.

the issue with this is, though-- how "topical" will it be, if at all?
the strip depends heavily on recent news events, ala doonsebury..
so if the show's animation isn't drop-dead cheap-- which it may be--, theyr'e gonna have to take, what, 9 months to complete an episode?
we'll see what happens...
I suspect, though, that there will be protests, unfortunately-- somewhere, somehow, some clueless suburban soccer mom is gonna see her kids watching it late at night and then start gathering the villagers...
Cartoon Network execs-- I hope you have the courage to keep this on the air longer than one episode...
