CNF Talkback: Puffy Ami Yumi [1/14/05]

Since there is no talkback for 'Puffy,' I'm going to post one. I can't account for 'Duck Dodgers,' but I can honestly guess why no one has said anything about this week's episode featuring our favorite J-pop rockers.

It was, in my opinion, the worst episode of the show to date.

"Yumi Saves Kaz" - Although the best short of the three in this batch, it was also the most predictable. Though it was weird seeing Kaz being that loyal to anyone... crazy loyal... makes you wonder if there's some good in him.
"Rock n' Roe" - Full of psychedelic yet uninspired images caused by consuming bad sushi + PSA that's unnecessary = most boring short of the series.
"Scowlitis" - Now that's a braceface, literally! Once again, though, for the most part... nothing we haven't seen in other series.

"Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi" Episode 9 gets a staggering 5 out of 10. I'm not amused. :yawn:

"Yumi Saves Kaz" - Predictable yes, boring yes, and damn if that Mr. Rogers refference didn't make me cringe.


"Rock n' Roe" - Is that cheap sushi laced with LSD or something?


"Scowlitis" - Ah now this episode was redeeming for the other two disasters. Lots of parts that made me chuckle. "Great, I'll take two tablet and call you in the morning." and Yumi likes to scowl even on her birthday. And I thought that goth girl I knew in 7th Grade was a little *****.

OVERALL: 6/10.

Anyone else notice the blatant ripoff of The Who's Pinball Wizard in the beginning riffs of the song Ami and Yumi play in "Yumi Saves Kaz"?

"My favorite flavor...assorted!"
I did like that line, but the first two parts were predictable. The third part was not as predictable, and I especially liked the music video shoot. Not much to be too excited about.
