View Full Version : TMNT, Will Splinter Ever Teach Them Ninja Powers?

I'm just watching TMNT right now and it dawned on me, don't ninjas have powers that they exit out of the ground and multiply themselves, and use that wood trick when they vanish before an enemy? So I was wondering can't splinter teach them? or is it to much to ask for?
By the way, for those who read the comics did they do ninja Techiques in them?
That's what the Ninja's WANT you to think...
Let me explain:
In Feudal Japan, Ninjas existed. The thing is: they kind of sucked. Any given samurai could kill them before they could do anything to defend themselves. So what do you do when you suck? Bluff! That's right, they used there "ninja tricks" to make themselves seem supernatual.
They used Hand seals to enforce this facade. They dyed their clothes red, so that when they got slashed, they "didn't bleed". They would use poisons that most people at the time never heard of, so they could "mystiously kill".
But they weren't COMPLETLY useless. They did have a lot of stealth skills, so they could move almost silently (they carried around boxes of crickets to hide the rest of the noise). They were also good at things like camualflauge. Hence, the ninjas were feared by people, including samurai, so that people wouldn't kill them.
From these myths they created came stories about super "ninja warriors". These stories are what things like Naruto and Flame of Recca were based on. TMNT is a LOT more accurate then you may think...

But wouldn't it be cool to see Rahp go
(Hands move fast in many directions)
Rahp:Katon Goukakyuu No Justu!
Then flames fly out of his mouth to take down Shredder!

I saw a movie in which this guy became a ninja master and found the 'GLOW' What happened was he started to... glow.. and it gave him super strengh and the ability to yell louder. He beat up Julius Carry and then started dancing. It was weird. But Ernie Reyes Jr. was in it.

Ugh, the TMNT should *never* have special moves, special attacks, or special abilities in any way, shape, or form. That's not what TMNT is about.
The fact that the Turtle's DON'T have special powers is what makes them so interesting. Their ninjitsu skills balances them with their villains. If the TMNT starting learning all these crazy special techiniques, the series would get boring very quickly.
This is a reason why the TMNT comics, old cartoon, movies, etc. were so successful.
As sci-fi as the TMNT franchise is, it's still very realistic at the same time.
In an alternate universe, they already have special powers. For a while they could transform into giant cyborg turtles that could do some crazy crap. Then they combined into one really, really big white turtle with which they could breathe in space and fire energy bolts.
Of course, they lost that power and then gained some new super-duper armor (along with Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady) that allowed them to fire meteors at each other.
Oh, and Splinter can deflect a giant black energy ball into the sky with his hands. One that's at least 100x bigger than he is. In the water. Without much effort at all.

Remember that part in the TMNT movie where Splinter appeared in the fire while the turtles meditated. Maybe something like that could happen instead of the glow.

Meditation seems to be the only power any ninja on the show has; remember Splinter's assistance to Donatello during his Triceraton mind scan in the "Space Invaders" arc?

This is the greatest post I have read today. What are hand seals? And how would carrying a box of crickets hide noise?
You've got me on the former, but the latter should be obvious. The sounds of the crickets chirping helps cover up any noise the person carrying of them makes while walking (just like you can't hear a whispered conversation in the other room if the TV is going right next to you), and any listener hearing the crickets tunes it out as normal background noise.
Wanna know what hand seals look like?
Watch a clip of a battle scene from Naruto. Doesn't matter what clip or where it's from. It'll use a hand seal.
This is the greatest post I have read today. What are hand seals? Have you ever seen a stereotypical ninja teleport? You know how he holds up two fingers on each hand and puts him together? Like that.
In other words: it's the "activation" of the "ninja magic". Kind of like how stage magicians use magic words.

What if the Turtles faced an enemy that is an super ninja of the anicient times and has been rewaken to enslave the earth, and in order for themto defeat this evil they will have to use their indiviual seals.
Mike:Seal of Earth and Doubleganging.
Don:Seal of Wind and Craft.
Rahp:Seal of Fire and Metal.
Leo:Seal of Thunder and Water.

Nope, they morph together into the Turtle Saint.

I'd give Leo the Earth Seal because he's so steady, and Mikey the Water Seal 'cause he laughs so much.
But absolutely no argument: Ralph deserves the Fire Seal.
And Wind is okay for Don; he's been known to 'hear the spirit in the wind' (see TMNT Comic No. 29*- one of my favorites!)

They had ninja powers in the video game if you beat Splinter with all four turtles.

They don't have ninja powers because they aren't Naruto.

Beat *Splinter*? That's definitely not the same Turtles as in the cartoons.

He's talking about TMNT: Tournament Fighters I believe. It was a fighting game for the NES, SNES and Sega Genesis.
