Who is Vandal Savage

Does anyone know who this "immortal bad guy" Vandal Savage is that's in the season finale of JUSTICE LEAGUE? I'm not familiar with the comics, only the Animated Series'.

i didn't know this episode was the season finale. i'm pretty sure they don't go into VS's bio in the episode.

I hope that they will. There's got to be a reason that Vandal Savage is getting a three-part episode.
