"Love Hina Again" - What's Your Opinion?

My ex-girlfriend got me this DVD for Christmas (a little ironic, isn't it?). It's the first time I've ever seen any anime form of "Love Hina", though I do own all the manga collections. I've heard that "Love Hina Again" has a pretty poor following among the series' fans, but I actually thought it was pretty good. The voice acting could have been a little better at times, but other than that, it entertained me. So what is it about this OVA that people don't like?

Kanako creeps people out.

I like the manga better (Kanako considered putting cameras all over the place assuming she'd make a fortune on the internet with Mutsumi's drunken nudity-fests), it had a more sufficient ending too.

I thought it was fine. A little more fanservice yeah, but what fan of the show doesn't appreciate that?

They touched on all the points in the manga while twisting it to play up the fantasy aspects of the anime series - my favourite scene has to be Naru going through the gauntlet of her friends to find Keitaro, whereas in the manga it was Keitaro going through the girls to get to Naru. Plus we get the creepy doll again to bring things full circle.

Maybe they left things open for a potential wedding OVA?

Yeah, I'll concede that the manga version of the story was far more action-oriented in its conclusion. I was kinda hoping they'd adapt it the same way in the OVA, but that would have made it the approximate length of a movie (although I wouldn't say no to that either). That's not to say this ending was bad, though.

I think the fanservice went a bit overboard (especially what they did to poor Shinobu), but I did like the beginning when Naru was searching the apartments and Kanako/Naru's reactions to the residents. Oh, and Keitaro becoming more Seta-ish.

And I thought it was pretty cool that the ending theme had three different tempos. Nice touch.

Overall though, nowhere near as good as the X-Mas movie.

Me too, but then again, I haven't seen any other "Love Hina" anime and I don't think it was mentioned in the manga.

I haven't seen the Love Hina show but I've read some of the manga over at my friends house. Its pretty funny. I wish the show would come here in South East Asia soon.
