What the....? Serious? This just seems far out of left field.

They'll make another video game, but won't released the show or it's counterparts on DVD since it became "old and overated"? Not even more merchandise or TV specials for the fans?

Viacom really needs to make up their minds here with upholding the licence to this goldmine. Fans and animation fanatics alike are just screaming for Animaiacs/Pinky and the Brain/Freakazoid to be let free amoungst the American public once again.

So why just in video game form after.....how long?

Surpisingly the game is made by the same company that is making Mercury and Zoo Keeper. Not to mention the Metal Slug Advance port.

Yet Metal Slug Advance isnt a port!

Good job!

To my knowledge it's actually titled "Animaniacs: Great Edgar Hunt"...

...and really, don't expect much. It's a budget title, and the graphics seemed very flat to me.

Oh yes, it's developed by Warthog. Published by Ignition. The set release date is March 4th, 2005. That's the UK release, mind you. There's no word on whether or not we'll see a US release quite yet.

Just take a look at Warthog's wrap sheet (http://games.ign.com/objects/027/027147.html) and you'll see that very few, if any, of their games are exactly...good. So yes, don't be surprised when the game turns out bad.

In 1930 (or, 1929 – there is a little dicrepancy as to the official date), in a bid to bring wacky entertainment to the masses, the Warner Brothers Animaation team embarked upon creating some new characters for their fans. The Warner Brothers (and Sister) were born but they were far too zany and out of control to appear in feature cartoons, but far too cute to do away with altogether, so Warner locked them in the water tower at the film lot and disavowed their existence…until now….

It´s Edgar time and all of Hollywood is excited. However, a dark cloud drifts over tinsel town when all the Edgars are stolen.

The players goal is to find 30+ Edgars spread over 6 game worlds. Edgars can be found by solving problems, helping characters of defeating bosses. There are multiple Edgars in every game world and 3 of them are collected in the same way every time – by finding 100 and 200 themed pickups in that game world and by finding and unmasking Chicken Boo. Controlling Yakko the player must first rescue Wakko and Dot before then going on to meet C.C. Deville in the final battle. Each character possesses different skills and all three characters must be utilized correctly to succeed.

(And I just found out that the GBA and PS2 games based on The Nightmare Before Christmas won't be released in the US until October 2005. The games are COMPLETED; they were released in Japan late last year...to add insult to injury, the Japanese release has English voiceovers, so there is very little, if any, translation needed. Grr.)

Why!!!!!! Has the fan community not suffered enough?

I'd rather have ONE good game based on A! of "Sam&Max: Hit the Road" quality then this stream of mediocre crap.

No. It doesn't even look right, and it should have been cel-shaded for that cartoon like appearance.

Give me DVDs now!

Those are some ugly screenshots. Looks more like a N64 title.

Why do I have a feeling this is going to flop?

Zero advertizment for starters.

If anything, I get to see a 3D Yakko model out of this. But this is really...weird, I don't even think the show is still on TV. I feel like I've wound up in an alternate dimension where they had PS2 technology in 1995.

And speaking of EGM....when Seanbaby reviews this, he better not tear apart the show it's based on!

The 3D Yakko looks good, but everything else looks like a 1999-2000 era PC or Dreamcast game.I actually recall seeing a shot and announcement for the game in OPM, way back in 2002. It was going to be published by Conspiracy, but I suspect they went bankrupt just when it was finished, and it's been in limbo for a while.

I dont think America even got that Tiny Toons Treasure Brawler on GBA.

Why is Yakko all shiny? I thought the Warners were made out of fur, not vinyl! :p

This game would probably look better if it was cel-shaded. Its sad that the Animaniacs game for the Sega Genesis did a better job of capturing the cartoon's look than this new one has.

And, maybe its just me, but I got a Tomb Raider vibe from some of the environments in those screen shots (like the pool and the forest).

This game would probably look better if it was cel-shaded. Its sad that the Animaniacs game for the Sega Genesis did a better job of capturing the cartoon's look than this new one has. Well it's easier to re-produce cel animation with sprite graphics than it is with CG. That's why a game like the original Earthworm Jim looks and moves better in pulling off a sight gag than, say, Jak & Daxter trying the same thing (instead, most of the laughs in that game came from Daxter's one-liners).

Anyway, those graphics are pretty dated. Hopefully they're just beta-version and we'll get some higher poly counts and some better textures before it's released. After all, we don't want another Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly on our hands.
