and I thought it was a very good episode. It wasn't as good as "Secret Origins" in my opinion, but it was still well done. I was dissapointed with Batman's absence, but I guess he woulden't have fit in the episode anyways. Other than that (And a rather ridiculous cliffhanger) I really enjoyed it. Hopefully we'll get more great stories like this in the future!

See ya!

I watched it for the second time yesterday, and I still don't really get why GL's on trial. I mean, his beam bounced off a deflector shield, isn't it kinda obvious he didn't do it on purpose? Can someone enlighten me here?

Yeah it's obvious that he didn't do it on purpose but he still destroyed an entire planet...it's like if someone accidentally killed another...they would still go on trial

I sincerely doubt that Green Lantern accidently destroyed the planet the way he was depicted of doing--planets are sturdier than that.

I'll bet John Stewart's being set up.

I was one of the more vocal critics of "Secret Origins" due it's lackluster animation, old hat plot, very bad secondary character dialogue and delivery, an even worse poorly composed, SYNTHETIC score and of course Superman himself....Well, I liked this 4th episode much more than those first three. It still wasn't perfect, but it certainly felt like the old Timm stuff. I really, really hate their stupid spaceship and I don't care for their orbiting base, either(go ahead, Bruce, "slip" that in the R&D budget). Superman and the music are still crap, but the animation was much better. There was no need for Batman to be there, so I was pleased he was absent. I'm glad that they aren't relying on the entire ensemble with every episode. That makes for better opportunities to tell better stories.

Loved the plot borrowing from the comics...

Huh, good point.

Karkull: I agree with you on the setting-up thing. But I do think it's conceivable that the whole planet blew up. We don't know how powerful GL's blast was or how unstable the volcano was. Part II t'will be good.

I finally saw In Blackest Night, just hours before part 2's supposed to begin. I liked it, it was slower paced, more focused on character development. I also think GL's being set up somehow, it looked like the Manhunters were working for someone who had a plan to shut down the GL corps or something.

Did anyone notice Superman using his super breath? That's the first time he's used it in the animated universe right?

Actually Superman used his superbreath when he was fighting John Corben (in the stolen Lex-Skell-5000 Suit) on the Last Son Of Krypton pilot. He blew him off a building. Other than that...there was no other time he used his superbreath...as far as I know.

I think superbreath is Superman's lamest power. I am glad they didn't use it more.

Actually I thought he just used normal breath, because the machine was wobbling on its own anyway.

Maybe. I just thought it was noteworthy, because in STAS they had a couple opportunities to use it, but instead had him spinning or doing a thunder clap.

I think once in the comics even Supes admitted that his super breath power was lame.
