Oh, please, it's not that bad. You can laugh at it, and any movie that you can laugh at easily is not a bad film.

As long as I like it, I don't really care. It is kinda funny to read the article though.

Well that article has the 4Shame adaption number. Even though it kind of true it is a commercial.

That list is just ********, I mean Baby Genuises(SP?) 2 was a worst film. And their Top 10 Best Movies didn't Spider-Man 2, The Passion, or Napoleon Dynamite.

THe list is Crap, The Movie beeted the critics expection of the first weekends box office and came in at number three when it had stiff competition that weekend. I mean Its a kids show there was nothing wrong with the movie, Most of you who hate the movie are those who follow stupid people who don't like 4kids and what they do so agree on anything they say is so. 4kids did not do nothing wrong with the movie, It had your basic theme Cards and cards and the Movie was darker than the series adaption on KWB. 4Kids asked the japanese companies to make the film because of the successs of Yugioh and like false anime fans like you Dog on it and complained why because in your words 4kids uck I'm not promoting it...right! but you still wake up to watch the hack job you say they do on SAt mornings instead right! Grow up people grow up!

When you make a movie for an anime with no connection to the Japanese, then you know it'll bomb.

Big time.

Whoa, wait a minute. I'm not a big Yu-Gi-Oh fan and haven't followed the anime much, but are you guy's saying 4-kids commissioned the movie. I thought they just dubbed it.

Critics get paid to have opinions, which makes them even more bigoted.

Well, I didn't see the movie, so I have no opinion on it until they release a WS version. I guess that's my fault (that I didn't see it).

I'm not sure many non-reviewers saw it since it ended up on DVD before Christmas. Saw Napoleon Dynamite on 1-2 worst movie lists. Mmm, didn't like it much myself. But reviews are all opinion, y'know? Even after you've studied the tech end of things...

Mmm, yeah, I enjoyed YGO fine enough. Went 3 times, between finishing the card collection and taking my YG-obsessed cousin. The big problem is the card exposition. "Shut up. I know what this card does. It does this and this and this..." Better than watching a chick flick or having a second go at Mel's holy little splatterfest, tho'. So was YGO the theatrical release I saw the most times this year? Was until Team America came out (9 times! woo!)

I don't think it was the worst movie(Altough I havent seen it.)

There were far worse movies. I agree with Naruffy

ANN is ANNoying. They are quick to write or report negatively on a lot of things, but they loooove everything that comes from ADV. Curious, that.

Sure, the Yugioh movie sucked. But one critic's opinion is barely worth the paper it's written on. There are a lot of bad movies out there, and a thousand times more critics.

Anime News Network is good in terms of reporting the latest anime headlines. However, the people who run that site have to be biggest bunch of snobs I've ever seen. If you go to their forums, they put the exclamation point on "anime politics". Geez, anime is entertainment and the people there are taking it WAY too seriously.

As for the Yu-Gi-Oh! movie? Listen, the moment you hear "Eternity does not last forever", there is no point in even trying to make heads or tails of it. To me, it's simple "leave your brain at the lobby" entertainment.

I'm still impressed that they allowed the use of alcoholic beverages in the movie though... :anime:

Yep, 4Kids paid money for it to be created for the U.S. The movie in Japan was only a half-hour long and was set in the OG anime (aka the one we will never get).

Well, seeing how he has Van Helsing and Resident Evil Apocalypse in that list as well, this guy has no taste. And I'm surprised he didn't have Chronicles of Riddick in there since that movie kicked ass as well.

Well, let's be honest. Those were both extremely cheesy movies. Maybe they wouldn't make my ten worst list, but it's not hard to see why others might choose them.

Or something to that effectJust in case no one caught on, Pegasus is the Japanese Michael Jackson...

Think about it...

Dresses in a very, shall we say, fruity flair.

Has a huge estate.

Speaks in a very strange manner for a grown man (Eh, Yugi-boy?)

Invites kids from around the world to travel to his secluded island without parental supervision.

Loves cartoons and other childish activities (after all, he does manage a game company)

Steals people's souls (MJ hasn't shown us that one yet)

I can't be the only one that sees it...

Everything before the second series is pretty crappy. The US-made movie is horrible too.

I.. acquired the movie for viewing. After about ten minutes, I threw it away and scrubbed my eyes and ears with some Lysol.

Bad voice acting, horrible plot, focus on the card game, ruining the continuity of the Kaiba x Yugi relationship.

I'd give it the worst of 2004 as well.

I agree with you on Baby Geniuses 2, but the SP2 and The Passion were wholly mediocre. Napoleon Dynamite I enjoyed greatly, but I don't think it's the Top 10.

It also doesn't help (I'm from Richmond, by the way) that the critic hates virtually everything. He accused Return of the King to be the most overdone film of the decade, etc.

Still, I agree with Yu-Gi-Oh.

Huh. I liked it. Heck, I loved it. I saw it three times in theatres and bought it the day it was released. I even bought an extra ticket because I wanted the Shining Dragon. oo'

Companies like that get all their money from poeple like me. Ah well, I'm happy with it, so that's all that matters to me.

Yu-Gi-Oh worse movie of 2004?!
Okay, what about The Terminal w/Tom Hanks or The Polar Express w/Tom Hanks. Or how about Spanglish w/Adam Sandler, or Chasing Liberty w/ Mandy Moore. Or how bout White Chicks, The Punisher, or Blade 3(I was very disappointed), National Treasure, or I Robot... C'mon Yugioh cannot possibly be the worst film of 2004!

What's wrong with The Terminal? I thought it was a nice movie. So was Napoleon Dynamite, but mainly because Napoleon resembles this kid at my school who gets picked on a lot.

What, Kaiba was nice?
The movie takes place after Battle City from what I remember. In the original, after Battlecity, Kaiba is no longer interested in beating Yugi and he's pretty much his friend.

But in the dub he still has angst for Yugi, so I guess it fits for them.

Just in case no one caught on, Pegasus is the Japanese Michael Jackson.I think Pegasus fancies himself more of a Cole Porter. "There's something wild about you child that's so contagious! Let's be outrageous! Let's misbehave!" Certainly he made an impression on Duke Devlin. Ohohohoho!

Edit: He's not Japanese. Pegasus is American, all out Gaijin. Bandit Keith is American too, and not the least bit nationalistic. And Rebecca? Best of the bunch but a tad out there as well.

well, Yu-Gi-Oh indeed deserves a plce on the top 10 worst of this year...or top 5, but not 1st place. Other movies could fill that. SB2, or Cody Banks 2, are great examples of Number 1 worst films of the year.

and yes, I'm a Yu-gi-oh fan. I'm not a big snob when it comes to anime editing generally, but if it's screwing with the continuity of a story or just makes a mockery of someone's creation, I will be pissed. YGO the movie did it for me.

and geez...white wine spritzers? Give Pegasus some damn vodka 4kids. =P

Richmond Times - you suck.

I loved the movie. Yeah, I know, it's one of those movies where you have to watch the series to get it. But because of that, you can't make fair judgement of it until you understand what they're talking about.

Also, Powerzord: Was that really in the movie? I don't remember it... it'd be cool if the DVDs had some extra goodies :D

BTW, is it in widescreen, or fullscreen? I just saw an ad run for it, it was in widescreen, but people say it's in fullscreen.

And why isn't Napoleon Dynamite on their "best" list?

As Ebert has said (notably in his Scooby Doo review), a good movie doesn't require the audience to do outside research in order to understand it.

The whole reason the movie was made in the first place was so that the kiddies watching would drag their parents into the theater and make major moneys. Anything extra is icing on the cake.

The difference is that Peter Laird is in control of the story for TMNT. He has nothing to do with YGO.
