Just passing this along...
Aint It Cool News (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=10839) is reporting that the League's last story arc for the season is recording now. It's in three parts, has the entire League, and is titled "The Savage Time." Here's the cut-and-paste on casting:
Fred Dryer ("Hunter") as Sgt. Rock, Patrick Duffy (“The Man From Atlantis”) as Steve Trevor, Phil Morris (who played Kramer’s Johnnie Cochrane-like attorney Jackie Chiles on “Seinfeld”) as Vandal Savage and Robert Picardo (“Star Trek: Voyager”) as Blackhawk.
OOOoooo... Looks like when the League ain't headin' off WWIII, they're messin' around with WWII. At least, that's the gist of the title, and Rock creator Bob Kanigher is on record saying Rock didn't survive that war...
Audi!

Thanks for the info! Anyone got a pic of Blackhawk from the comics? And who is he exactly?

Yes! Vandal Savage is cool (check out the DC 1,000,000 mini-series)!

This sounds like our pseudo-JSA team-up, guys. I only recognize a couple of the characters myself, but I'm pretty sure that's what this is.

I have to say I think That storyline sucks IMO. I've never been big on WW II type soldier stories, never been a fan of Sgt. Rock and Easy Co, Blackhawk or Vandal Savage. I'll watch it most likely but im not looking forward to it.

I dunno how acurate this is...I read in the interview with Maria Canals that the episode with the "JSA" where they travel to the past was called "Legends." And it would be kinda dumb to have two time travel episodes, I think.

Well it could be that the episode is indeed "Legends" and someone just gave Ain't it Inaccurate News the wrong title.

Isn't Sgt. Rock alive again in the current comics for some reason, and now called General Rock?

Yes the old General is alive and kicking after having faked his death towards the end of the "Our Worlds At War" storyline. He now heads up the new (and not that good to me ) Suicide Squad.

But didn't Rock die at the end of WWII? I guess he would be like 80 now. Hmmmm, I sense another Crisis coming.

Well, maybe it's because I finally caught "The Great Escape" for the first time last night. But I'm feeling pretty enthusiastic about a WWII-type story.

that sucks, only because i was hoping the season finally 3-parter would be the injustice gang story arch. injustice gang is too awesome to only have 2-parts. man! oh well, atleast we wont have to wait till the end of the season to see luthor and joker.

"the savage time" is going to be a killer episode. i won't go into specifics, but let's say it's pretty intense and has a lot of emotion!
You have inside info on this show, nothing? I don't think this is the time travel episode, mainly becuase the cartoon wil likely tweak with the comic characters to make everything at present.

I'm sure it's gona turn out to be a great arc either way! I can't wait to see how they depict Vandal!

Originally I was wondering if the guest stars in "Legends" would appear in a flashback only, not actually meeting the JL, similar to Jonah Hex's guest appearance on BTAS. But after reading the Maria Canals interview, it looks like the league WILL be travelling back in time.
So now I'm wondering if the "Savage Time" episode will see our guest stars (Sgt. Rock and Blackhawk) in a flashback only, following Vandal Savage's evil deeds from WWII to the present time.
Like some others have posted here, would the writers really give us TWO time travel episodes (Legends and Savage Time) in the first season?

For hot rod and anyone else that would like some info on Blackhawk, this site tells about the Blackhawks' original Quality Comics years in the 40's, their goofy DC Comics days in the 60's and the entertaining Howard Chaykin revival in the 80's.

I thought the JSA episode wasn't going to happen...have they revived the idea or something...someone told me that they didn't have the rights to the Justice Society.

They don't have the rights to use the JSA, so they're going to use a made up team modeled after the JSA instead. Sorta like Batman Beyond's archetypical JLA team, the JLU. I put JSA in quotation marks in my original post to reflect this. :0)

Hm, I thought the creators had free reign over pretty much everybody in the DC universe. Or did I hear wrong?

Okay, they could have used the Justice Society, but it would have been complicated. First off, the episode was concieved as an "Earth One, Earth Two" team-up, not a time travel episode. If they changed it to time travel they would have had to rethink their team roster, because...
...there have been at least three versions of the team; one of which had Golden Age versions of Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, and Batman. However, they probably wanted to use the current "Golden Age" version of the JSA (with mainstays like Doctor Midnight, Starman, Doctor Fate, etc.), but DC probably had a problem with that, since they have a modern day version of the JSA running around the DC Universe.
After all this, Timm and company probably just said "screw this" and decided to create their own team. But keep in mind, this team could possess a mix of new characters and older ones--DC has acquired the rights to many Golden Age characters (Uncle Sam, the Human Bomb, Phantom Lady, etc.).
Whatever they create, it will be good.
