We've known for some time that UFF will need a replacement writer as humanity can only handle so much Ellis at a time, but man...doesn't it seem like every freaking creative team is changing at both Marvel and DC?
The full story, including comments from Millar...who was already on this book once...wild (http://newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24004)
I'm pretty psyched about it. Well, not so much about Ellis leaving...no one could nail it like he did. But Millar's a damn fine writer, and I haven't seen Greg Land's interior work since his days on NIGHTWING (before Crossgen, of all people, made him the Marvel superstar he is today), so I'm very much looking forward to that.
Additionally, this means Millar & Land will not take THOR, which Millar said he wasn't crazy about in the first place, but says can still happen. Yeah, I'll bet Thor fans love hearing that. Me, I'd like to see the Gaiman/JMS plot executed by someone really into it. Like, say...Gaiman or JMS, but that won't happen anytime soon.
Absoloutly awesome. UFF has been moving at an abysmally slow pace, hopefully Millar will give the title the kick up the ass it's needed.

Umm... smashing.
I run hot and cold on Millar (hot: The Ultimates, Wolverine, cold: Ultimate X-Men, The Authority), but I've got reasonably high hopes. He has a very dense style which I think will be a nice change of pace after Ellis' slower scripting, so I think it should be fun enough. Land, of course, is a very talented penciller and I'm sure the book will look superb.
My only real concern is that when you let Mark Millar loose in the Ultimate Universe, he can sometimes go overboard with the shock factor. He's more restrained in the 616 universe, and I think Bendis' sensibilities dampened that problem on the book's first arc. One of my favorite things about UFF is how thoroughly old-school and classical it feels in its appeal. It's a very bright, fun, and clean superhero comic, so I hope Millar preserves that aspect.
As long as the Thing doesn't eat people, we should be okay.

Definitely good news in that I was once pondering the notion of dropping Ultimate Fantastic Four merely because Ellis's pace was way too slow for my tastes. Mark Millar is a great writer and its nice to see him take over this one.

The pacing of UFF was so agonizing slow, and I think my personal dream team of Millar/Land should give UFF the boost it so rightfully needed.
And looks like that Thor remake is tabled for now, I wonder if it'll wait for Millar or some other creative team will pick that up.
Well, I suppose that's a fine choice. Stuart Immonen's art has really grown on me and Ellis' writing is fine. However, Greg Land is a pretty good artist, and Mark Millar, is fine too. I'll still be picking it up.

I might give the book a try again. The formula 6 book story was getting on my nerves. 6 issues to pop them all with their powers and have a non fight with the mole man was a joke.
Greg Land is nice though... Hope he can keep up a monthly book (well at least for 6 issues until they change teams again).
