That was pretty emmotional actually. I didn't think I'd tear up but I did a bit. It's really violent too... Dang... I couldn't believe all the blood I saw. Good luck clearning that up 4kids...

But I'm very sad now because I know 4kids is going to dumb down the whole thing and sugar coat the dialogue. Killing all the humor and the real emmotion.

It's also going to take some creative editing...

Why did they have to get One Piece? WHY I SAY!!!!

It could have been great.

Just be glad they leave in what they do (Death, Shank's bloody stump, etc)

4-Kids leaves in a lot more than their other dubs, that's for sure.

I wonder what they'll call Red Shoes Zeff? They sure can't say he got the name from the blood on his shoes...

I'm not worried about Zeff and Sanji's story overall. Zeff is still gonna loose his leg... but they will suck the emmotion out of it for sure. And that's an awful shame.

Maybe sugar coat to dialog or leave it in. I never found Sanji's arc all that emotion to begin with.. just Arlong's and Chopper's.

Don Krieg was the first arc of the show that left me completely breathless.

I don't know. They are going to have to get really, really creative when it comes to things like:

1. Zoro getting sliced wide open by Mihawk.
2. Zeff losing his leg and him starving with Sanji afterwards.
3. All the gassing scenes.
4. Luffy getting severely messed up while messing up Don Krieg.

Still, without the original score, even if the scenes are kept 90% intact they still won't have the emotional punch.

But I'm going to be optimistic. Judging by what they have left in, they are mostly likely going to paint over a lot of the red stuff and cut snippets here and there. While 4Kids isn't exactly known for having balls, they have shown a lot more than in any other of their shows.

I'm more worried about Arlong than anything else...

And hack up the rest of everything else, that's also for sure.

I wouldn't be suprised if they just left out Sanji's backstory as well as the episode that is entirely Zoro's back story. Why? No particular reason. They cut out Uusop's better moments as well. No need to let the story get in the way of the kiddies action right?

But if they did leave it in they'll be cracking a bunch of corny lines durring Sanji and Zeff's back story.

4kids does a good job with violence edits overall but they sap their shows of any worth while content otherwise and of course they dumb down the emmotional scenes.

Stupid Viz. His nick name was'nt "red Shoes Zeff" it was "Zeff the red leg". Ah well I've lost all hope when it comes to American One Piece at this point.

Funny, I always thought it was Red Feet Zeff.

I think Sanji's backstory lost some emotional punch for me in the original anime because they changed the story for Japanese broadcast standards, and it ended up being too similiar to Luffy's story

Instead of losing his leg to that ship's anchor, Zeff eats it so he can spare Sanji all the food

I'm wondering if Foxbox will do the smart thing narratively and show all of Sanji's arc before ending the season, or if they'll just arbitrarily cut it off halfway. If they make it to the Mihawk episode, we'll at least know if they plan on doing the Arlong arc...

BTW, I just started collecting the English vols of the manga, Zoro/Zolo be damned (and I did manage to snap up vols 2-4 with 'Zoro')...any artwork edits I should be aware of?

None that I'm aware of, beware vol 2, there is a page that's repeated (the last page of actual story) and a zoomed in page (specifically, the page where Luffy slams Beedle's face into the building)

These were errors that were fixed with a second printing, but may still linger on shelves. So I guess the "Zolo' thing would make vol 3's thrid re-print.

I'll have to double back but I remember him being called "Zeff the red leg".

Zeff the Red Leg is the appropriate translation. Its a good arc, but comparitively its one of the worst arcs in the series, because of how awesome the series gets.

I'm up to the Davy Backfight storyline, I'd rather not go all that way back. But really, if editing out blood and stuff was all they did for YGO, I wouldn't mine it at all.

In all honestly, if editing out blood and violence ruins a show, ask yourself what it had going for it originally.

Yes but what if blood plays a very important role in a fight. Remember the final fight in Alabaster?
