I'm thinking of starting a blog/live journal-type thing. I'm just curious as to what one I should use.
Thanks in advance for your responses :)
Hmm. I've been using blogger/blogspot.com for over a year. I find it to be alright for my wants at the moment, has a decent amount of templates and is pretty customizable.
I've always been curious with livejournal but have never gotten one because the paid features seem to make it really stand out and I'm just not interested in paying for that currently.
Just my picky mentality for wanting a subdomain address at the least I guess. :p
If you have your own webspace Movable Type (http://www.movabletype.org) is probably the way to go. Fully-featured and free. It's what I'm using (http://tfarm.sdf1.org/b/) and I've been quite happy with it so far.

I use LiveJournal. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/beau99) Even with a free account, it's still very customiseable (is that even a word?).

I use Blogger like PaQ. I've no complaints yet.

Make your own blog system. All they are is a basic News Script, and there are a multitude of those on the internet. With that, you're not limited. You can just stick the script inside of any self designed template.
If you're not interested in doing that, I would say LiveJournal is probably a good choice.

I just use blogger.com. Fairly straightforward.

I use Blogger.com to update the mainpage of my website, and its worked pretty well so far (it occasionally has hangups, but I haven't had too much of a headache over it.)
All my friends use Live Journal, but I'm really not that interested in having a journal to chronicle the boring days of my life...so I just stick with what I've got and use it for that purpose. :)

i recently started using a live journal account. the free account is decent enough. sometimes it just feels good to write down how dull your day was after a boring afternoon of nothingness

I use Xanga. (http://www.xanga.com) It's pretty good, especially if you know what you're doing or pay. I had a friend set mine up so it looks nice. I also use Live Journal, but I use Xanga more.

I use Live Journal along with most of the people I know. The free account isn't quite as customizeable as I'd like, but it works well enough.

Xanga. Definately Xanga. You can do so much more. I mean, this is what I did to mine. www.xanga.com/fluffypillowsfluff (http://www.xanga.com/fluffypillowsfluff)
I put a music video in a couple weeks ago and I haven't updated. It's right underneath my chatting box.
Luckily, I don't have to pay anything. All done after a bit of changing and some HTML.

Well, I'll give you the honest and evasive answer...it depends. It depends on whether you want to pay for your blog or webspace -- and how much knowledge of website coding you know or plan to learn.
I started blogging on Livejournal and I enjoy it a lot, but I also use Wordpress on my website which is, I think, is pretty easy to use as far as installing and tweaking it. It's pretty stable and they have a wonderful support system. I've used pMachine and MovableType as well. I found pMachine to be a pretty good software, though it confused the heck out of me at first. (In fact so much that I gladly switched over to Wordpress.) And MovableType really....has more flaws in my opinion - WP at least has security features and tends to not error as much since it runs off PHP.
Good luck making your decision.

LiveJournal's pretty nice. I've tried Blogger/Blog*Spot before, thought it was pretty good, but LJ is where I've been for awhile.

Well, as you can see, I decided to go with Blogger.com, at least for a little while. Maybe I'll switch to LiveJournal/Xanga/regular HTML page eventually.
Thanks for your input everyone!
