Plot Summary: After Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire's parents perish in a terrible fire, they are placed in the care of Count Olaf (Jim Carrey), an actor, evil genius, and master of disguise. The books come to life with Jim Carrey as the lead in "a holiday movie without all that pesky hope and joy." Talk about it here!

*Does 7 backflips and screams*

Okay, since the beggining of the Series of Unfortunate Event Books, I've been reading them. When A new one comes out, I read it, and so anxiously for the next. I LOVE the books. If you haven't read them, READ THEM. They are awesome, I swear.

I saw a fake announcement last year saying the movie was scheduled to premier LAST december, which had me anxiously awaiting. When I learned that was fake, I was so mad. AGH! But now that iut's out, I can't wait to see it! Mom promised to take me...wednsday I think. I can't wait. I hope they make movies for every book, especially the Hostile Hospital. That was my favorite book of all time. Miserable Mill coming at close second.

I love Lemony Snicket. For those who don't know, that's not his real name, but regardless, he's an awesome author. Every chapter starts with some kind of Analogy, Reccomendation, or fun fact, which

1. You can learn a lot from them

2. They're just plain funny sometimes!

Lemony Snicket has an awesome way of writing. It's just spectacular.

My final regards are this, If you haven't already, read the books. If you haven't already, see the movie! All I gotta say.

~TTR4~

P.S. Some may not have seen, cause there were no advretisements, but the 11th book, The Grim Grotto is out! I've read it, and it's spectacular. Just wanted to say, thanks!

Eh, it was ok. Good acting, good landscapes and props, and the only thing that really stood out for me was the music though. An interesting movie that just had that underwhelming finale ending feeling that was like "Its over and done, but if enough cash rolls in we'll make another!" I'd recomend to see it, you'll like it just for the strange feeling that was kept through out the whole movie. It wasn't bad, or excellent. Just good.

I'd give it three stars.

Maybe I'm too old, but I just didn't enjoy the books that much. I've read the first, I'm half way through the second, and I just can't bring myself to finish it, (it's very rare for me to not finish a ficinal book I've started). They are definatly a different and unique writting style, which is very nice at the begining, but then after a while I just got tired of the writting style. I can see why many kids enjoy the books, but they're just not for me.

I hope they make movies for every book, especially the Hostile Hospital. That was my favorite book of all time. Miserable Mill coming at close second. I think this movie combines the first three books.

Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to see this movie, and surprisingly, it was really enjoyable. I had never heard of the books before I first saw the movie trailer, but my g/f and mom had.

Jim Carrey was hilarious, but he really should not have had his name above the title since he did not have the biggest role in the movie.

The 3 kids were funny, especially the baby (Sunny I think). Although, my favorite character is Violet (?). The snake guy was weird, but the old lady was just creepy and so protective all the time.

The designs in this movie was just gorgeous though. I really liked the outfits because they looked gothic, and I love gothic stuff.

The soundtrack fit perfectly well with the mood, and that also helped to make the movie enjoyable.

This movie has the coolest credits next to the Dawn of the Dead remake because of the music and drawings of the kids running away from Olaf during them.

I must say though, when the movie first started I thought we were in the wrong aud because it had "A Nickelodeon Movie" logo, and I had no idea they had anything to do with it, plus the beginning had a happy elf singing and dancing.

Overall, I give the movie a 3.5-4/5. I hope there is a Director's Cut DVD, because I will most likely buy it.

I love the books so I went with my mom, sister and a friend to see it since yesterday was my birthday.

I was slightly dissapointed but still enjoyed it. I don't know, they put the wedding at the very end after the Lachrymose events? Oh, well.

I also loved 'The Littlest Elf'. They totally got me. I thought it was going to be a stupid short before the movie.

It was good, but I don't expect a sequel.

***1/2

It does...I know that...

It was good, but I don't expect a sequel.
Why do you say that? Not good enough for a sequel? Or what do you mean?

I thought the way they ended it made sure they couldn't make another.

Good in theroy. Sucked in presentation

Problems
A: They replaced almost every bit of diolage
B: So much wasn't in the books
C: They acted as though Vol. 4-13? DIDN'T EXIST
D: They answered questions NOT ANSWERED IN THE BOOKS
C: They screwed over V.F.D
E: They screwed over the events of book 1 and 3 (Weding Reangement)

More as I think of it

Has there ever been a movie that was faithful to the original book?
Anyways, I'm gonna see this sometime with my friends. We love the books and I'm pretty convinced I'll like the movie. :anime:

No offense, but I don't think they were trying to be accurate by the books. Nor does it matter since they made it good. Just because a movie does not follow a book does not mean it sucks. Not everything has to be LotR.

And it was only based on books 1-3 from what I just read, why would they talk about 4-13?

I agree Deadly Messiah.

And also, I haven't seen it yet, but how would they screw over VFD? VFD was brough in in the 5th book, not 1-3.

Did anyone else notice the ever so random cameo by Dustin Hoffman? Was he that desperate for money? He wasn't even credited at the end.

I thought the movie was very good, and they did leave it open enough for more if they choose to. Also, Dustin Hoffman was probably only in it to either have fun on the set with some of his acting friends or to just have a good time, which is how most cameos are set up. Actors don't get paid much at all for doing them, its mostly to have fun with their friends on set. At any rate, I thought it was very well done (and I'm the biggest fan of the books you will find).

But why would they do that? They can do that in the Book 5 movie...

What cameo was that? O_o I don't remember seeing him.

Dustin was in the ticket line for the play Count Olaf was doing. Soon after they showed him about 6 more times making quick comments to the current scene or dramatic tension of the movie.

Just saw this by accident, was going to see Fockers but it was sold out. A better movie than what I expected, not laugh out funny but cute. Great costume design and art direction as well. I should read these books.

I just saw this and it was great. Very different from the books and very very funny. Violet was really pretty and Sunny was cute. Clause wasn't nerdy. When I was reading the books, I pictured as ugly. Anyway, can't wait for the second one.

Yeah, I'm kinda cheesed they didn't go for the "Dective Conan" look for Clause...

Of course, they had to change Sunny but...I meen, damn, Glasses are not hard to get.
