Paul Storrie, writer of Batman Beyond #23 and Justice League Adventures #2, will be helming the project. Artist Jessice Graves, who recently pencilled Batman Chronicles #3 and the (awesome) Robin #34 will handle the art chores. The comic is expected to be based in the animated continuity.

Storrie says the idea came from the official Gotham Girls website, which he stumbled upon. After wondering why DC wasn't already doing a book like this, he shot off a proposal to associate editor Micheal Wright. But the Batman Animated books had just been handed to Joan Hilty, editor of the Cartoon Network comics. Michael Wright passed the proposal on to Joan Hilty and she greenlighted the five issue mini-series.

Storrie continues to describe the series, saying it will be a five issue chase with all the main characters trying to get their hands on the same thing. Each issue will spotlight a character, including a Gotham Girl not featured on the popular webtoon - Renee Montoya.

"Although she wasn't in my original proposal, I soon realized there was an unsung Gotham Girl I really wanted to include," Storrie told the Comics Continuum. "I decided to have her in the background of the four issues focusing on Batgirl, Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Joan, in her infinite wisdom, insisted that the character deserved her own issue. Who was I to argue?"

The characters featured in the mini-series will be Batgirl, Catwoman, Harley, Poison Ivy, and Renee Montoya.

Expect more information on this five issue mini-series this weekend at the Mid-Ohio-Comic-Con. Stay tuned for more updates of the animated comics here at TZN!
