This came to me a while back when I was watching Miguzi. I don't know if this story arc was based on a previous comic book arc from back in the 80's or early 90's but it has some interesting parallels to what's going on in Iraq.

Shredder=Saddam Hussein: ruthless, utterly evil and a pox on humanity.
Leonadro= President Bush (and Neo-Con's): Suppourts continued action even after getting rid of the dude. Says that there is a moral obligation to do the right thing, and that means getting involved in the chaotic situation formed after the Shredder's demise.
Raphael= Radica lAnti-war crowd: Very much opposed to having any involvement in the conflict. Proposes an immediate withdrawl, and constantly questioning the leadership of a person who idealistically launches themselves into war.
Mikey/Don/Casey=masses: The people who go along with the leader but are really stuck between the two arguing ideoligies.
Foot/Mob/PD=Millitant/Terrorist: With the all powerful authoritarian figure gone now everyone want to carve out their own idea of what things should be like. And they don't care if innocent people get hurt.

I'm not quite sure where Karai fits into all this but I thought it was interesting. Infact at times it seemed like the story was ripped right out of the news and adapted. Even the show "Butting heads" that they Turtles were watching seemed to be a refrence to the popular Cable news talk shows/debate hours.

Anyhow, what does everyone think am I just reading to much into it.

Well, it's an interesting idea. But me being on the American Democrat/Canadian Democrat-Liberal side, I wouldn't want to associate my beloved childhood friend Leonardo with Bush.

It's an interesting idea though, but in my (humble, I hope) opinion, I don't think the writers were going for that, but it is cool how you linked things like that. :)

you're just reading too much into things. they were adapting a comic book arc from the 80s.

^ Indeed.

On the other hand, we can be certain the 'Butting Heads' discussion show *is* based on something current.

Mikey is just plain weird. And that's half of what makes the show interesting (well, for me).

CaW was a crappy adaption of a 20+ year old comic book arc. It predates the first Iraqi conflict.
