All right... this is my first thread and it's third-hand... so please, be gentle.

Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Shawn (Famous Jett Jackson, Big Fat Liar ) Levy has been tapped by Universal Studios to direct and produce a movie of "Zits," the teenage comic strip by Jim Borgman and Jerry Scott. Shady Acres and Marc Platt Productions will produce.

Universal is also looking for a couple of rewriters to help Levy with the current script.

Original sighting credit goes to Comics2Film.com...

If this has already been reported elsewhere, mea culpa...

I hope that Hollywood does right by it. That strip is hilarious! I wonder what duncan will think?

I recently sent a e-mail to my local newspaper to have "Zits" in the newspaper. No response yet. They're too busy reporting on a redneck getting his adam's apple stuck in a garbage disposle. Front page even!

LOCAL YOKEL GETS ADAM'S APPLE STUCK IN GARBAGE DISPOSLE!

Ain't my town great? :D

I can relate Foley, I wrote an article for my high school paper trying to get Zits and other comics in my local newspaper. ;)

I just noticed this thread after I posted one exactly like it! :o
i am just going to morph mine with this thread.

Here is what I wrote before I saw this thread.

Strolling through the unofficial Adult Swim website I came across this articule about Baby Blues:

Naturally I wanted to read more about Jerry Scott and Baby Blues, maybe Zits. But was I amazed when I found out that the creators are planning a live-action Zits movie!

Am I the only one who didn't know about this? Hopefully it won't wind up like Scooby-Doo. Can anyone give more information about this? I would also want to know who you think should be cast? I want to be Hector! :D

Jason Alexander should be Jeremey's dad and Dana Delany should be his mom. :D

Why is it that the script by Paul Feig (Freaks and Geeks) needs a rewrite? Was Freaks and Geeks a bad show or did I just misinterpret the news story?

I am more worried about Shawn Levy who works for the ZOOG! But in all fairness, the Famous Jett Jackson is better than Lizzie McGuire or Even Stevens (that isn't saying much, though), and the movie Big Fat Liar could turn out to be decent.

No, Freaks and Geeks was a wonderful show! If anyone could do Zits justice, it would be him. If you want to check out his current work, watch Undeclared Tuesdays on Fox... good stuff.

That's what I thought so why did his script need a rewrite?

Rewrites are a way of life in Hollywood. Just because they ordered a rewrite doesn't mean it was bad. But if it was good, there's a good chance it's been ruined by now.

In Hollywood, even the world's best script could be re-written based on a studio exec's whim. For example, "old" scripts, that is, scripts that are six months old or orlder, always get re-written whether they need it or not. Danged execs.
