More than nine months since we at Toon Zone first learned about an animated series of Disney's Italian comic book series W.I.T.C.H. in development, Disney launches it first in the USA with a 1-hour animated sneak preview airing Saturday morning on ABC Kids at 12:00 pm ET/11:00 am CT&PT in some markets, on Sunday at 9:30 am ET/PT on ABC Family and also on Sunday at 8:00 pm ET/PT on Toon Disney.
If you had been watching either the Jetix block on ABC Family or Toon Disney in October or November, there's no way you could have not seen the promos for this new animated series. There have been profile, minisode, and various teaser promos, all in an effort to raise awareness about this new show. And with good reason, too. The comic book series has been quite a hit over in Europe, reaching sales of over 900,000 copies a month.
W.I.T.C.H. is an acronym of the main character's first names, Will Vandom, Irma Lair, Taranee Cook, Cornelia Hale, and Hay Lin. To summarize the basic story, Yan Lin, Hay Lin's grandmother, said in minisodes #1 and #2, "Let me tell you girls a story. The universe was once a single kingdom, ruled by good, but evil began to take root. A Veil was created to isolate the evil kingdom of Meridian from all other worlds. Meridian has been overtaken by a powerful entity named Phobos...But portals have begun to open in the Veil, doorways through which evil can cross between worlds. Guardians close these holes using their powers. I became a Guardian when I was your age, but now the duty is passing to your generation." Yan Lin proceeds to open a box, and lifts what appears to be a necklace with a sphere attached, and continues, "This is the Heart of Candracar, which contains the elementary forces of nature, and unites them, summoning and magnifying their powers...There is a rebellion in Meridian, but their leader is in danger. Many good people will need your help."
With no more new Digimon series to rely on for a flagship animated show, Disney needs to find something new that can pull in viewers for its Jetix block on ABC Family and Toon Disney. Is this series worthy of becoming a flagship series, not only in the USA, but around the world as well, or is it just another overhyped animated series? Discuss it here!

900,000 readers can't be all wrong,
personally I don't think that this show is being Hyped at all, For it to be Hyped they would have to make it seem Better than it really is, and unless they go around Touting stuff like "This show will kick the Bootay out of evry other show around" it can hardly be called Hype.
And I highly doubt that it was created as a potential replacement for a flagship title on Jetix. The Comic has stuck a chord with readers World wide, making an animated version was the next logical step.
So come tommorow, I'm just gonna kick back, Relax And enjoy the animated version of one of my favorite series, without worriying about weather or not this is the next big thing or not. No one can plan these things, they just happen.
All I'm saying is that 900,000 readers can't all be wrong,

My ABC affiliate gave me a great Christmas present, and aired the preview at 5:00 a.m. PT today. Here are the lyrics to the theme song.
W.I.T.C.H. Main Title Theme Song
By: Adam Watts and Andy Dodd
We are...
We are...
We are...
W.I.T.C.H.!
We are...
We are...
(W.I.T.C.H.)
There is a place where darkness reigns,
We got the power to fight back!
We save the day, united five as one!
We can become more than you know.
The Heart will lead the way to what we can control!
Water, Fire, Earth, and Air!
Guardians, Unite!
We are...
We are...
We are...
W.I.T.C.H.!
We are...
We are...
(W.I.T.C.H.)
We are...
We are...
We are...
W.I.T.C.H.!
We are...
We are...
(We are...
We are...
We are...)
(We are...
We are...
We are...)
W.I.T.C.H. I thought the theme song was great. A nice addition to Disney's line of theme songs for their TV shows. The "We are..." repeats are extremely catchy, although I know when you first see the lyrics you'd probably think the show was called "We are..." :D
Now, onto the two episodes. I'll add in a little more space since it has not aired on the normal ABC Kids affiliates yet.
There were some changes from the book series, notably the beginning story makes no mention of it being around the time of Halloween from what I could tell, and the addition of another character. Also, the Guardians find time to practice using their powers after they got them, something they didn't do until later in the book series. The base characters, the Guardians, and the main villains are all similar. The music used was very different from the type I was expecting to, and most of it worked well. The transformation background music used in the first episode was great IMO. Also, like in other transformation shows that air on Jetix and other networks, there is a call phrase Will uses, "Guardians, Unite!" to call upon their powers. That was to be expected IMO. We'll have to see what happens in episodes 3 and beyond, but I think it's off to a good start.

After sitting through the first 60 Minutes of Witch I have to say that the show left me a tiny bit disappointed and in fact really doesn't have the feel of the original books or even the comic books.. and for good reason..
Apparently the magic is there.. Granted.. but sadly they don't explain or explore how or why Will came to Sheffield.. or how or why the girls Powers Suddenly Develop.. in the opening scenes we see Hay-lin Sneeze, and the sneeze Literally trashes her room, but it doesn't explain a lot..
The rest of the show for the next 45 minutes seemed to flip back and forth and the story seemed sadly to plod on for a while before the story really started to take shape.. It's amazing to me how little Character Development there was for the Main Characters and yet the most development was in the Secondary Characters...most notably Caleb and Blargh..(or is it Blarg?) but the sad point is that while this is the first show, it fails to explain the why behind Will's First day at Sheffield, or a lot of other things.. The writing for this show while keeping along the lines of the books, Fail to really do any character development.. and that could in turn be the show's undoing.. Sure there is the friction that is between Irma and Corneilia.. but unless there is some explanation to it.. The Writers make Corneilia Look like some snob, and Irma as a Clown.. (Sad to say there had to be some explanation as to why this was..)
Frankly I'm going to take a Middle of the road stance on this review.. The show does spark the Imagination, but unless more character development is done, this show could lose it's sparkle real fast.. so right now I'm giving the first episode an inital rating of just 5 out of 10.. if some thought had been put into the story, I would rate it higher.. but until we see more of the story, the magic Spark just isn't there...

...The rumors bandied about a few months ago are correct: W.I.T.C.H. as an animated series is quite a bit "darker" than the original Italian comic books.
And I think Disney/SIP Animation deliberately did it this way to differentiate themselves from Winx Club. If you've read the original W.I.T.C.H. comic books, there's actually quite a lot of scenes of teenage romance just like you see in Winx Club; note that aspect of W.I.T.C.H. has been taken out in the animated series.
tucsoncoyote, I would suggest seeing at least 5-7 episodes before coming to a conclusion about this new animated series; after all, Winx Club--according to its fans here on ToonZone--didn't really become interesting until the eighth episode. :)

As usual, WJLA here in DC had nothing to do with the ABC Kids airing today. So, I'll watch the ABC Family showing on Sunday.
Yeah, I've made this next decision without having seen one second of footage -- not even the four mini-sodes. Sunday will be the only time I watch it. I'll watch it out of curiosity but with zero willingness to let it win me into a weekly viewer.

We in the Netherlands still have to wait till april for the show. It's nice to know the lyrics already.
I'm no good at offering up a detailed review, but I'm *LOVING* this show already. :D
In regards to characters, I can't pick a favorite, but as of right now, I'm partial to Cornelia. X3
Whereas F-Zero is my reason to get up early on Sunday mornings, W.i.t.c.h. is my reason to get up on Saturdays now. ;]

Watching the W.I.T.C.H. premiere right now. Not great, but not terrible. The writing seems to be up to par with the original, not that it was ever their strongest point. Visually it's not bad-- certainly better than Totally Spies or Winx Club, but not even close to looking as fluid as the comics. Plus they committed the greatest sin of all: They seem to have slimmed Irma down a bit. NOOOOOO! NOT IRMA! Not curvy li'l Irma! Bastards. She's still hot anyway. The voice casting, however, is excellent. Everyone sounds exactly as they should.
Not bad. I'll keep watching. It's visually a bit weak, but anything's gonna seem understated when you've been watching Dead Leaves all weekend.

I'm no good at offering up a detailed review
But I am!
First off, the theme song. MUCH better than Winx Club's theme, and just as good as the song used in the book trailers online.
Characters:
-Will: She had some good lines, and her spats with Caleb made for great material.
-Irma: She's become my second favorite W.i.t.c.h. girl, for her wit and humor.
-Taranee: LOVE her voice!
-Cornelia: Just as beautiful as the original, and she brought a bit of comedy to the table as well, especially her George of the Jungle act.
-Hay Lin: That girl sneezes worse than me! :p I like her wind breath power.
-Caleb: My favorite non-Guardian character. Bold, brave, and funny (especially in the second half-hour with the girls.)
-The bad guys: Freaky, especially Phobos, the part-human/part-snake monster.
Among the things NOT shown: No Candracar (could this mean Yan Lin survives the entire series?). Also, Elyon was MIA (although I'm sure she'll make her debut in the next episode, and then we'll see how her story goes. We know she's the heir to the throne, we just don't know how she's gonna get to that point, yet.)
Overall, the animated version of W.i.t.c.h. is off to a good start. A few minor flaws, but the good outweighs the bad. 8.5/10 for the debut.

That was a cool show. I can just imagine the chaos in the school when that Imp shows up. I particularly enjoyed the part where the girls were playing with their power under the bridge. It was highly amusing. Especially Hay lin and her flying mishaps, using the garbage as a landing pad.
I liked Will and Hay lin.
I didnt like Cornelia tho. I really think Cornelia would get along real well with Riven (from Winxclub).
Methinks Caleb and Will would make a perfect couple. :D
Plus they committed the greatest sin of all: They seem to have slimmed Irma down a bit. NOOOOOO! NOT IRMA! Not curvy li'l Irma! Bastards. She's still hot anyway.
They did what?!?! D=
Dang! She was so cute in the comics! >o<

I loved the Candracar parts in the comics....such a beautifull place with magical characters...:( :( :(
Does anyone have screengrabs from the WITCH series....especially including Elyon, because I've never seen her as an animated-series figure, only the comic person....who I think is the most special girl of them all :D

I caught a little bit of this today (took a shower in the middle of the hour)... it makes me think Totally Spies (animation) meets Sailor Moon (girl power) meets He-Man (mystical stuff).
The characters were nice (Despite the fact their names suck), the plot though was very meh.
... 'course, it aired between the epic "Fighting Spirit" and "A Million Points Of Light", so...

Nah. It's about on par with Winx's sneak peek. Too bad it's not from the middle eps though. So, we have the 5 girls and Darien. ;)

I thought it was entertaining. Much better than Winx (I know a lot of people are going to be comparing the two). The dialogue was better than I was expecting, with the characters talking in a normal dialect instead of the over use of fashionable "cool" language. Plus, some of the innuendo was a little surprising from Disney (I will say no more for fear of editing).
Animation was better than previously mentioned magic girl show, and all the characters are likeable in the way that they have more personality and are not complete caricatures of what they are supposed to be (again compared to Winx.) Even the theme was better, more new age goth instead of teeny bopper light.

No it is not. Go read the 12 W.I.T.C.H. books published in the USA and you know what I mean. :)
One thing I have noticed about W.I.T.C.H. is the fact the color palette used in the animated series is quite a bit darker and more subdued than the bright, almost garish colors used in Winx Club.

Irma: What these things on our backs? (referring to her wings)
Cornelia: What are these things on our fronts?
Well, Cornelia, those would be yours...eh, nevermind.
I do not like the light blue/light green leggings that the girls wear in their WITCH forms; it just doesn't look good. Other then that particular funky color scheme, it looked very good. The show was colorful and the colors are vibrant. I didn't have a problem with any of the girls designs except for Taranee; she looked too tomboyish in her normal state.

Please don't mind we sometimes digress into comparing it against a competing show, Winx Club. That's because this arguement between the supporters of both shows has been going on in Italy and France over the past year or so.
I hope to see Hay Lin express more of her Chinese background, because that was part of the charm of the original comic books.

this is my first time seeing WITCH in toon form...i knew the comics exist...>_> just haven't read them lol
ANYWAY
i like the voice work of you 5, they fit the girls and stand out on there own.
To the show
i really like the the combo of Disney added in there, for some reason they remind me of Ariel's and Bell's.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out, I've been board hoping and from what I see ppl are saying its changed from the book/comic. Which is not new with A LOT of comic to animated shows. Usually they have to subsitue one thing for another...sometimes it comes out good and somtimes it just doesn't work. BUT from what I've seen, its good...even though I haven't read the comics you can tell since its animated they want to get the intros done NOW and just build the character later, instead of the comic, build the character then establish a base story.

Welp, s'awright. Liked how colorful the show was. The animation was pretty nice as well. Dug the voice actresses(There actually wasn't a single one that annoyed me). I liked the characters. They were all pretty unique. Their design was good too.
Just for your information, my favorite characters were Irma and Hay Lin. I liked Irma because she was acting like a normal person would when given magic powers(c'mon, if you got super powers, you'd be thinking how cool they are and be wanting to use 'em too). Liked Hay Lin because she has a cute personality and...well...I like Chinese girls.
Hmmm, what didn't I like about the show? Well, the gaurdian outfits look awful. Especially compared to how good the girls look in their normal clothes. The story is definitely a bit cliche so far. I didn't really find any of the writing to be that great(but at least the dialogue isn't corny and Digimon-like). Still, as far as first episodes go, this was pretty good. I'll keep watching on a regular basis.

Methinks Caleb and Will would make a perfect couple. :DHas Will spats with Caleb? In the comic Caleb is Cornelia's dream lover.
I only have seen the first mini-sode, and that was enough to say Irma speaks like a toddler; that doesn't suit to an early-bloomer.
sag_2002, You confuse Cedric with Phobos; Cedric is the half-bodybuilder, half-snake monster. Phobos is the snobistic, evil, suppressional and tyrannic Prince of Meridian. And a fool.
I don't like the idea they are all capable to fly, flapping their wings! Only Hay Lin flies in the comic, and the wings don't move; it's the power of air which makes her flying! Though she uses her hands in the comic, her breath can be good too. Next to Irma Hay Lin loves to make jokes as well. Maybe some garlick...
Again, in the comic Cornelia gets along with Caleb (no future!) and Will is supposed to have a crush on Matt Olsen, the hunk of the Sheffield Institute.

God bless channel-surfing! After hearing people talk about the books so much on Toon Zone, I went out and read some of 'em (I'm on #7). I was flipping through the channels Saturday and found "W.I.T.C.H."
I guess I am a little disappointed in some of the smalelr details; i.e. No Elyon yet (She was Cornelia's best friend, you'd think she'd be there), Caleb appearing (doesn't he show up in, like, book 10 or 11 or something?), the evil place being Meridian (It was Metamoor. Meridian was Metamoor's capitol, though, so I GUESS it's okay), seeing Phobos...somehow, seeing Phobos in the first or second eppisode is just...messed up.
Characters;
Will; I like Will, she and Hay Lin are probably my favorites. I hope they somehow incorporate the power she has to talk to electronic devices, I think that's cool.
Irma; Irma's voice took a little getting used to...and she was a teeny bit irritating at times.
Taranee: Her voice wasn't at all like I expected. It was good, but I excpected it to be more whispery and shy, mostly because Taranee's the most nervous of the group.
Cornelia; @.@ Shiney haaaiiirr.....O.o; Seriously, though, I like Cornelia. The show made her seem a little more snobby than the books, though. Or maybe that's just my opinion.
Hay Lin: By far one of my favorites. She reminds me so much of my best friend, she really does. I liked her voice a lot, too. Besides, she's Air, my fave element.
I missed the theme song ( :( ) but overall, I can't WAIT for this show to start officially. I'm marking my calendar, for sure! :anime:

I'm going to stick with what I said about the "minisodes" preview and say that conceptually this strikes me as "Sailor Moon". Now, that's not a bad thing, and I'm sure the plot will be different down the line, but given a "sum up the series in one sentence" type of thing, there's no way to differentiate it from Sailor Moon.
As opposed to Winx Club, which was "Sailor Moon meets Harry Potter", and even that's neither here or there because I'm not planning on making any more comparisons between Winx and WITCH beyond that.
So, is it a good show? Can't tell yet. All I've seen is the episodes that introduce the world and the characters, plus a lot of hype here. Real judgements will have to wait until a good number of episodes have actually aired.

I have good news for you then. http://www.jetix.tv now has the opening theme song online :). It's the "W.I.T.C.H. Music Video" listed there. Not only that, but you can listen to the ending BGM by clicking on "Team Rescue," which is a new W.I.T.C.H. game. I think you need Flash from www.macromedia.com (http://www.macromedia.com) to view the site though.

I was a bit dissapointed that Elyon and most of the character devolpment scenes from the comics were left out. Its like the cartoon just wanted to throw the girls together as fast as possible instead of showing them all discovering their powers and getting to know each other first.
Origionally posted by TVsKyle
Plus they committed the greatest sin of all: They seem to have slimmed Irma down a bit. NOOOOOO! NOT IRMA! Not curvy li'l Irma! Bastards. She's still hot anyway. That bugged me, too. It also confused me because when I first saw her in the cartoon I thought she was Elyon

The voice casting, however, is excellent. Everyone sounds exactly as they should.I think so, too. I especially liked Irma's voice simply because I'm a big fan of Candi Milo. :D

To me Candi Milo has given Irma a voice which is too young, it suits the little sister of Cornelia, Lilian. Despite of that, Candi Milo has a good voice to give Irma a somewhat older voice, for she is physically more 'developed' as usual for her age. Her voice could also have a small trace of hoarseness when she is in a serious mood.

I caught "It Begins" last weekend.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, which could be why I ended up liking it so. The story is pretty compelling, and the humor was quite sharp:
- Irma: "Our conversation has steered any from Cornelia's life. What could we have been thinking?"
- Will: "What have we got behind us?"
Cornelia: "What have we got in front of us?"
- Hay Lin crashing into the camera
I was greatly surprised to see that Andrew Nichols and Darrell Vickers ("Pelswick", "Ned's Newt") are writers/producers. Maybe that was it. Anyway, I'm looking forward to more.

I agree that the first 2 episodes have nothing on the comics, but you must realise that from a marketing standpoint, it would have been a bad move to fill the first episode with development and talking. Most first episodes have to be flashy and full of action to hook the viewer so they'll keep watching; then you can do all the development.
Hopefully the episodes after the premier start following the comics, either in flashback form or an alternate telling.
OK, I just caught the first episode on Toon Disney. (Missed like the first 7 minutes of it.)
It's a nice show. Poor Will is being handing insults left and right, even from Cornelia?! ("She invited the new girl too?")
The bridge scene was funny. Especially Hay Lin crashing down on Cornelia who was running away in fear from worms she dug up.
I hate to say it, but those outfits are eye sores. But oh well, that shouldn't matter.
Like I said, nice show, I'll have to catch the next one on Friday.

Some good ratings for the actual series' premiere of the show:
Toon Disney: "W.I.T.C.H." DELIVERS ROBUST RATINGS GAINS TO JETIX ON ABC FAMILY AND TOON DISNEY .
.
BURBANK, January 19, 2005 . . . The premiere of "W.I.T.C.H.," a new original JETIX animated series, on ABC Family (Saturday, January 15, 9:30-10:00 a.m.) and Toon Disney (Monday, January 17, 8:30-9:00 p.m.) posted solid ratings and delivery gains on both platforms.
The "W.I.T.C.H." premiere on ABC Family generated double- and triple-digit ratings gains versus the time period's prior four-week average with kids 2-11 (+50%, 0.6/199,000 vs. 0.4/130,000), kids 6-11 (+75%, 0.7/132,000 vs. 0.4/69,000), boys 6-11 (+60%, 0.8/83,000 vs. 0.5/57,000), girls 2-11 (+500%, 0.6/93,000 vs. 0.1/20,000) and girls 6-11 (+400%, 0.5/49,000 vs. 0.1/12,000).
The series' Monday debut on Toon Disney garnered double- and triple-digit gains versus year ago numbers with all key demographics including kids 2-11 (+120%, 1.1/210,000 vs. 0.5/83,000), kids 6-11 (+160%, 1.3/147,000 vs. 0.5/53,000), boys 2-11 (+143%, 1.7/164,000 vs. 0.7/61,000), boys 6-11 (+80%, 1.8/114,000 vs. 1.0/53,000), girls 2-11 (+67%, 0.5/45,000 vs. 0.3/22,000) and girls 6-11 (0.6/33,000 vs. 0.0/0). The "W.I.T.C.H." premiere on Toon Disney was also up over the prior four week average with kids 6-11 (+30%, 1.3/147,000 vs. 1.0/110,000), boys 2-11 (+13%, 1.7/164,000 vs. 1.5/147,000) and boys 6-11 (+50%, 1.8/114,000 vs. 1.2/76,000).
Inspired by the hugely popular European comic magazines and the recently introduced U.S. chapter books, the new half-hour animated series produced in Paris, takes young viewers on the adventures of five diverse middle school girls from Sheffield (Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin - their first initials form the series title) who must grapple with their newly-granted powers to transform into magical sprites who can control the Earth's elements and protect it from the evil Prince Phobos who looms from a parallel universe, Meridian. Deftly blending the humor and pathos of teen life with pulse-pounding action, "W.I.T.C.H." unspools a mesmerizing saga of five tweens contending with parents, peer pressure and school projects on the homefront… and their new ability to be heroes in a dark meta-world.

If "It Begins" got me to check the show out, "It Resumes" hooks me like crazy! At least my review's in the right place this time.
- Will and Caleb had some interesting dialogue exchanges. What was that line... something along the lines of 'where's your older sister?' Ah... the disadvantages of transforming into a slight older version of yourself. Well, at least it helps in the 'keeping your identity a secret' trait.
- Other favorite lines: Irma's "That'll certainly wake up your underwear!" when the girls come out of the portal; Cornelia's "I have an idea!," and then after noticing the others giving her funny looks, she adds, "Don't look surprised!"
- That half-human/half-dragon villain... man, he's still ugly!
- Character race after 2 episodes: Cornelia (+1) 2; Irma and Will (+1) 1; Taranee and Hay Lin (0) 0.
"It Resumes" scores 8 out of 10. And "W.I.T.C.H." scores a season pass! Heh... never thought I'd say that about a Jetix show.

Actually, Caleb is voiced by Greg "Chiro and Beast Boy" Cipes. Nitpicking aside, W.I.T.C.H may be the only shining gem Disney has left in its' proverbial crown. With the crop of animation coming in and Disney's megahit Kim Possible leaving, it might just be the last good Disney cartoon for a long while. Anyway, I can't wait until next week for brand-new episodes; this whole story will be awesome and i'm hoping there are some good scenes for me to draw.

Surprisingly interesting. The animation looked great. And I don't think I've watched a cartoon in a fantasy setting like that since...Gummi Bears. I could like this. Though those pastel stripes on the girls' legs....that will take some getting used to.
But watching Caleb is going to be interesting...Especially for a guy who used to read a comic called 'Meridian' which stared a similar looking kid who was also involved in a rebellion. I already have to fight the urge to just call him Jad.

I gotta say I prefer the comics now that I've read the first two, but that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the cartoon version as well.
It's my guess that they started it out so differently to attract more male viewers. Let's face it; history states that you have to attract the boys for good ratings. Maybe that's changing now with all the girl power shows out there, but that's why there are so many more boy cartoons out there. Girls will watch "boy shows," but most boys wouldn't be caught dead watching something "girly." This show looks like it's trying to appeal to both sides.
Well, now that i got the DVD of the first two eps., I can post some screengrabs:

Now this is defiantly more like it. I love this show so far, all of the characters from what I've seen are very likable. The action is pretty cool, not to keen on the villain but these are the first episodes so the villain may get better as the series goes on. The powers are unique, cool transformations and the animation is way better. Now is this an actual Disney hand made series? Or is this another bought anime from another company? If so oh well, I'm loving it. It's become my favorite new series so far. It's no Kim Possible, but it'll do.

Sale, duplication, hiring, lending, public performance and broadcasting prohibited." It only has the first two eps. with trailers for W.i.t.c.h. and the Monkey Team Hyper Force Go whatever thing from Jetix. The case itself is cardboard and advertizes the stations it airs on.

I guess my point was that cartoons are pretty complicated to make. Imagine if you had to do the layouts of a show that constantly has five main characters in every other shot. There's so much to keep track of, and I think they're doing an above-average job on this particular show. I recall seeing a few similar mistakes in something like Sailor Moon (as well as practically any other cartoon out there) but I think it's silly to nit-pick such things.

I haven't gotten very far in the books, but I'm aware of a lot of the changes. My only guess is that they've tried really hard to condense the story, maybe too hard. But we'll see how this works out in later episodes. I also think that they changed things around to get the potential male audience interested early on; history proves that you've gotta attract a male audience to get the ratings.
At any rate, I can't wait until my comics arrive so I can see the original story.

Yeah, it's kinda typical that in a magical girl-type series that the characters become older versions of themselves when they transform, so it's only natural that they are more developed.
And as for Sailor Moon, well, those characters are different heights, too. Makoto even feels self-concious about being the big, tall girl, but some of the foreign dubs totally ignore that so as not to be a "bad influence" on the little girls in the audience.
I wouldn't go so far as to say one is more serious than the other, perhaps you've never seen the Japanese version of episodes 45 and 46?

Actually, what bugged me more was that Cornelia was willing to leave Will to who knows what kind of fate just because she's the new girl. It's what made me go from merely disliking her to actively hating her.

I saw "It Resumes" a bit ago.
Something bothered me about this episode. In "It Begins," they looked worried about Caleb being captured. Next day, they decide they'll save him "after picture day." No need to hurry, right?
Then after they get there and find him, they're pros with their magic. They even formulate plans without talking with each other. Did they practice some more in secret or something?
Not as good as the first, but I look forward to seeing Eylon. They have telepathic gifts. But it's a special item of Taranee. Later they can make themselves invisible.

That's what happened in witch 6......so that does follow the comic :)
That's what I meant. :D They skip to the 6th book already.

The Oracle made the girls forget about Caleb for a month while he was in big trouble.

From what I read, the new episode summaries don't follow the comic much
The girls think Will's mom's boyfriend is a monster instead of Mrs. Rudolph
Well, nether did Sailor Moon, when all was said in done...

Okay, I went through the DVD and picked out a few more pictures I like:

When the second season rolls around, the light blue and green striped leggings has go to go. Just pick one color and stick with it. Heck, if they change it during season 1, that would be very good.

But they'll probably stay, since they're straight from the comics. And, as we've seen, even if you make a change from the design for technical reasons, someone will snivel endlessly about it, no matter how minor. Changing the leggings would probably result in something 'worse'.
Personally, I like them, but I have screwed up taste in fashion. :p

>I thought the theme song was great. A nice addition to Disney's line of theme songs for their TV shows. The "We are..." repeats are extremely catchy, although
I know when you first see the lyrics you'd probably think the show was called "We are...":ack:
The theme song is actually what got me interested in the show. I only wish I could've been the one to sing it. *cries*

Personally, I like them, but I have screwed up taste in fashion. :pI like the leggings better in the comics. The curls in their clothes are better in the comics too. In the animation the curl in Cornelia's dress is in the wrong direction. And last but not least, the leggings of Hay Lin just reach below the knees in the comics.

At TV Tome I read the following :
Nitpick: Before going to rescue Will, Taranee said she moved to Heatherfield one year ago, but in the books she moved there only a few days before Will.
That's almost true. As a matter of fact, Taranee and her parents and brother made a trip to Heatherfield a year before. They looked for a house to rent for the next year.

Off Topic:
LMAO@BluePriestess's avatar and little message! I shall make an avatar in your honor. That was TOO funny...
In any case, the show is actually okay so far, though I have to agree: I didn't like Cornelia in the book and the show still doesn't do her justice in that department either. And I actually hate that they changed the relationship between Cornie and Caleb. It was so sweet.
But otherwise, the show isn't that bad.:zim:

Hi, everyone! I am a self-proclaimed n00b in these forums! Hehe. Anyway, going to ask an offtopic question here: does anyone have the slightest idea when the WITCH cartoon is going to show in Asia, particularly in the Philippines (where I live). I'm just concerned that our local channels chose to show Winx Club first rather than WITCH, considering that WITCH is more popular (I am not insulting Winx Club, look at the demographics, people!). I really like WITCH and would just like to find out if it's gonna air somewhere in Asia. Thanks. Peace out!

"We now return you to your regular, on-topic WITCH forums..."You should consider yourself lucky. At least you have the English-translated original comics, something that I am definitely wanting to get from that dealer in Manila that sells on eBay.
You should know that it's only in the USA that the W.i.t.c.h. animated series is being shown, but they will start showing it in Europe either this month or next month. As for Winx Club, that program started in production much earlier and they just completed the first season in the USA late last year, and I believe that the second season of the show is being shown on the RAI Due and France 3 channels now.

We have the previews of Witch for at least a week now. It's different to the introduction in the USA. No minisodes, but first a few seconds intro flash per person. Now we have ten-seconds clips per person taken from the show.
It's all spoken in Dutch. The first airing will be at Saturday September the 3rd, at 7:25 GMT on Jetix, in The Max.
Has anyone seen the Andy Warhol-style portrait of Einstein in "It Begins"?
