A few Catwoman Questions...

well, i decided to pick up the last three issues of catwoman and the trial of the catwoman from dc, in anticipation of wed's relaunch. and i am a bit confussed...

1. why doesn't anyone know Selina Kyle is Catwoman? i thought that was common knowledge.

2. why do they think 'catwoman' killed a lady named selina kyle?

3. what's the whole story w/ her sister? why does selina blame her for her problems?

4. what's the grudge scarecrow had against catwoman?

5. will the relaunch be set in a different continuity from the previous series, or will the events of the last series still have happened in the new one?

thanks for the info. i actually hardly ever read catwoman till now, and from what i saw it was pretty good. and the new one is supose to be even better, so thats great!

I don't follow Catwoman in regular continuity anymore, but last I checked (see an issue of Catwoman where she's atop a grave of Selina Kyle in a new black costume surrounded by cats) I think people started to find out she was Selina Kyle or Selina Kyle was thought to be involved with bad people (not sure!) and so in order for Catwoman to prove that she wasn't "Selina Kyle", she found a body in a morgue and tossed it out a tall building (that's what I saw in the comic - I'm not sure if that's related to this). Basically, she had to free herself of her true identity, "Selina Kyle", in order to live and continue to be Catwoman. This may all be wrong, but I just wanted to try to help ya! Good luck!

Well, her sister was an alternate personality she created named Maggie. I am pretty sure the new comic will follow in the same continuity and they will probably mention the other stuff, which I can't quite think of right now. I'll go back and read the last issues and let you know! Hope this helps a little! :)

so she doesnt have a sister? thats just another personality?? what about the flashbacks and the letter she writes to maggie in the last issue? i was under the impression that maggie existed, but selina kind of made up what she was like now and stuff, sort of a second personality based on a real person. but i only read the last 3 issues. plus in trial of the catwoman, slam says that selina has a sister who joined a convent, so was that maggie or selina impersonating her?

Well, I never really followed the comic, so I can't tell you a lot. But I do know in Frank Miller's Batman: Year One we see the origin of Catwoman, and in it she has a real sister named Maggie, and there's a connection with a convent there. For all I know, this may have been re-written or changed in the regular Catwoman comic, but if you're really wanting to know, you might want to check out Batman: Year One.
