FMA? HunterXHunter? Viz, why must you make me waste all my money? They know I am weak!

Totally awesome, though. Can't wait to read them. Surprised that FMA is only 4 volumes, though...

It's more than 4. I think it's up to 7 right now and still going. It was probably a typo on their part. It's interesting to note that they are apparently launching a SHONEN JUMP ADVANCED lineup with HxH. Hopefully Death Note follow suit.

Aww man, I thought someone was gonna continue my old thread >.>;
Anyways, least we're getting Slump and FMA, Hunter X Hunter isn't all that great...well to me at least.

Watch thy tongue, heathen! :D

Hunter X Hunter's domestic release (in any form) has been a long time coming.

I've been really into it for about 5 years or so (was shown some raw eps from a Japanese friend back in high school, then I was hooked and religiously read fan scanlations).

I can't wait.

Why sir, I do believe thats an insult. Time to duel...whoops wrong anime:sweat:

Meh, I just never liked the story all that well. The art and all was good, but it seemed to bland plotwise.

Sweet! Less collecting to do with FMA.

Hunter X Hunter isn't the first Shonen Jump Advanced book that would be Ultimate Muscle and I find it a little odd that Kenshin isn't part of that group either. None the less... the UM volumes are HUGE so hopefully so will the Hunter X Hunter. But the thing is... Is HxH really all that more violent than YYH and Naruto? That seems odd to me but I haven't read or watched any HxH.

Dr. Slump, now that IS a suprise. Viz just made a lot of people happy I guess.

I thought the art looked like chicken scratch.

I know Dr. Slump deserves this. And Hunter x Hunter and Fullmetal Alchemist....oh HELL YES. I'm willing to drop something for FMA. Best pickup right there. And what's this about Shonen Jump Advance?

Its supposed to be a Shonen Jump for an older audience. Besides SJ advanced, Viz is also working another manga magazine that shows Shoujo manga.

Jump Advances is gonna be a magazine as well? I thought it was just going to be a group of graphic novels. If it is a magazine then there's a chance that some day we could actually see stuff like Pretty Face come to the US.

But honestly... Kenshin should be Jump Advanced and maybe Bleach as well. Why is Hunter X Hunter? I thought it was targetted at the same audience as Yu Yu Hakusho.

I also wonder what they'll put in that Shoujo magazine. Will it be a specified magazine type from Japan or will it just be a compilation of whatever Viz can get ahold of?

Viz got FMA?

Great, there goes any chance of being able to find it in bookstores in Canada.

Like the UM manga, those volumes are huge. Thats the only diffrence, more for the same price. I haven't heard of a magazine, so if you have a link to where you found it that'd be nice.

I'm not sure the shoujo one, it might be just a compilation of various manga from what they have or are getting. But then again it might be just a shoujo version of shounen jump.

VIZ did a survey on the Shoujo magazine last month.

Viz sounds like a decent choice for FMA... as long as they don't flip it. I'd be reading X/1999 and Inuyasha right now if they offered an unedited version.

I wonder how much that liscense cost them... ouch.

I'm extremely happy with the news on Dr. Slump. Now Funimation needs to get the anime.

They haven't flipped anything in years. The only reason IY and X are still flipped is due to legal issues.

I still wish Del Rey got it. Sure their prices are ridiculous, but at least Chapters keeps their titles fully stocked right on release date. With Viz, maybe some bookstore n the middle of Saskatechwan will randomly get a copy or two, but you can't rely on them at all.

Why FUNimation of all people? Besides, FUNimation's more concerned with more current and popular shows.

Probably cuz they dubbed db/dbz/gt so they could say "By the Creator of..."
*nods*
I want to see Dr. Slump 2; the new version of it that was made right after gt. I heard Goku and Majin Buu are in the first episode of it.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Safe bet it was coming, but didn't know who would get it.

Hunter x Hunter: Safe bet Viz would get it, but no clue when they'd get around to it.

Dr. Slump: YES! OH YES! I've been waiting for this one! :anime:

All in all, some nice aquisitions. I better start saving.

I didn't think it was going to be a magazine. I thought that was what someone else meant.

I'm excited for HxH even more now. I like fat manga books. Some of the Kenshin volumes are pretty big.

What is it with Viz and all of these "imprints"? Are they really necessary? They just seem so tacky.

Bingo. And I'm told Dr. Slump made an appearance in Dragonball.

The imprints help to distinguish the target audience for stores and consumers. Heck, Shueisha publishes under many different labels in Japan too. Think Shonen Jump, Ultra Jump, Young Jump, etc.
