Mario Golf, Tennis, Baseball and now Basketball?

Well, not quite. This one isn't made by Nintendo at least. What is going on is that it appears team Nintendo will be making some sort of appearance in NBA Street V3. Here is the story from Planet GameCube:

I've never played NBA Street, but depending on what this ends up being it could turn out to be a rather cool little extra feature along the lines of having Link in Soul Caliber 2.

I will totally buy that game just to play as Luigi against NBA players. Street has been fun overall and not your traditional game so I guess it could work.

Anyway, when I read the thread title I thought, "Boy, you'd think they'd see how well Mario Baseball will do first before going out on a limb like this." But a cameo in NBA Street? Now THAT'S a cool idea. Wonder if they'll go the full Soul Calibur II route and have console-specific characters on the other consoles, too.

I for one would love to play as Master Cheif? I mean who wouldn't? How about Jack & Daxter or Ratchet and Clank. It's an EA game, so how about James Bond? :anime:

I honestly didn't see that one coming. At least it make sme interested in a game I would not normally care about (sort of like in Soul Calibur II). It would be interesting to see how well this version sells compared to the PS2 and XBox versions.

Good idea; it will likely boost GCN sales of the game. I doubt I'll get it though. I'm betting it will still play like any other basketball game, just with players that look like Mario and friends.

Because for all I know I might like it. I was never a fan of tennis, but I loved Mario Tennis.

Maybe the "All-Stars" thing is... um... GCN-specific bonuses, and this is just Nintendo's attempt to point out "Hey, we get something other consoles didn't!".

Not that I have any damn clue what it could be...

Seems like Nintendo's hoping into bed with EA full bore. Licensing characters to them, getting the Gamecube eye ctach on the end of EA's commecials. Hopefully this will continue in the next generation.

A hockey or basketball game would sound more apporpriate if they were serious about making a team sports game out of it. You only need six or five on the ice or court at once!

Then again that doesn't add up to many features does it?

Mario has multiple sports games, kart racing, golf, tennis, fighting
not to mention he runs constatntly all over the mushroom kingdom thwarting evil
