It's very simple:
Find the image you want
Copy the URL of the image
Click IMG
Paste URL in little box that should show up
When you post or preview your message, the image should appear (if done correctly)
Now let's do an example. Say I wanted to post this image from "A Feather in His Hare'. The URL is:
http://www.toonzone.net/looney/news-junebugs02.jpg

So if I follow the steps, it should appear like this:

http://www.toonzone.net/looney/news-junebugs02.jpg

Tim -

you are looking for an 'ftp' (file transfer protocol) program - try www.cnet.com (for all things geeky) and search for a ftp under downloads (I used ipswitch until my ISP 'improved' its network, since when it no longer works).

Once you have an ftp, you will need to find someplace to park your .jpg (or whatever) if your ISP offers 'free nn MB' with your account, figure out how to activate it, and use that.

anyone know of free storage (idrive comes to mind), others?

There are plenty of free storage sites... but most of 'em no longer allow images to be loaded onto a page outside of their servers (Geocities, Tripod, AcmeCity, FortuneCity, NBCi, etc.)
