It's amazing, back to back good episodes. "Luck Of The Fryish" from Futurama & "Tag Sale, You're It" from The Venture Bros.
EDIT
Sorry had a posting problem.
It's hypnotizing...like watching a lava-lamp while high or a Hypnotoad. I agree.. That was very hypnotizing.. Never has the ATHF theme been so easy on the eyes. @_@

whoa sweet, Mission Hill is back? What I'd pay for a box dvd set (not that much but still)
Dammit, FMA lost to Venture Brothers again?
Throw that in with the rumors going to anime clubs that the FMA TV broacast is a butcher, and we've got a problem.
I'm serious BTW. My college anime club advertised it's showing of FMA with an ad going "Sick of the crappy dub and tons of edits from the Cartoon Network version?"

Yay for Mission Hill. Haven't seen this episode in so long it seems new. Which leads me to have been laughing during the episode.
Ratings seem alright. Nothing to complain about. Those idiots over that poster thing need a good set of *****slaps though, talk about....dumb.

seriously. Some people just complain for the sake of complaining. If I saw posters like that on the UCSD campus, you'd definetely see it torn down and replaced with something realistic. -.-

Hey, Fullmetal Alchemist is doing fine. It trades off with Venture Bros. every now and then, no big deal. As long as they both perform strong, I think it's safe to say they'll stay on. Now if Cowboy Bebop or InuYasha were taking their ratings at a later time, then you should be scared.
As for "butchered" Fullmetal Alchemist, I would have to say this is one of Funimation's best dubs ever! Seriously, they didn't even Americanize the theme music!!!! The voice actors/actresses match perfectly to the characters and so far everyone is saying the series has been untouched edit-wise. Saturday Night has gone from a very mediocre night to a pretty satisfying night (only problem is I'm never in Saturday and normally just watch Thursday premiere repeats.)
As for Sundays ratings, as much as I like Sealab, I think it might be time for WS to say goodbye. It's had premieres for weeks and not even 1 has made it into the top 3 while Tom Goes to the Mayor had one solid night of 600,000 viewers. I may be judging a little early, but Sealab hasn't been on top for a long time.

It's one thing to complain when the TV version actually is a butcher job. But why can't people give credit when the TV folks try to do the TV version right, given the constraints they have to work against? This kind of inaccurate slap against a conscientious dubbing/editing job can invalidate critics when there are legitimate grounds for complaint.
Unfortunately, some of the anime elitists seem to get upset by the very idea of USA TV networks making anime available to the "unwashed masses" at all. (^_*)

Exactly, it makes them feel special because they're the only ones who know about it. They don't like it when the mainstream discovers their favorite show.
Anyway, good to see Tom get the ratings it deserves...well, actually we don't know it's ratings, but it's good to see it get beaten by Sealab and Birdman anyway.

i tend to concur that the "club" mentality of many x-treme anime fans is disheartening to those that are now producing a quality dub. but what are 'ya gonna do? the popular thinking is that the show they find "underground-cool" will suddenly sprout non-anime fans who are interested and thus ruin their elite status.
anyway, with that said... to my knowledge there's only one or two very minor visual edits, and if you didn't see the original japanese version... you wouldn't even notice what was changed. i don't want to suggest what's been changed because of spoiler issues, so please don't contemplate.

this board /= reality
The majority of this board seems to love Home Movies, however, in real life, most people don't find it funny at all. And when did I say no one ever laughed? I'm sure someone laughed at Penguins Behind Bars, that doesn't mean anything.

The only thing I laughed at Penguins Behind Bars for was the week after when it was somehow, magically the number one show in ratings that night. :D :D

Wait people are supposed to laugh at Home movies?
I thought the only reason it developed such a following was because it was so passionately anti-humorous and this somehow was cool because of it's ironic status.
(I really don't get home movies-never have-I've even seen most of the "classic" first and second season episodes, and I can barely stay awake through 15 minutes of one. To me it just seems like a kind of sweet, kind of clever, terribly animated sitcom with nothing spectacular about it at all. At very least, it was a bad fit for the rest of the more "actively funny" shows on adult swim)
But then again I didn't post in every home movies thread to tell everyone just how much I hated the show. :D

I think its hard to define what people like in 'reality'. The only AS show I ever hear people consistantly talk about is Family Guy (on a side note, people need to realize that when they quote something from TV, it's never nearly as funny. This also goes for Chappelle's Show). Futurama and ATHF also seem mildly popular.
Really, the only people I know who watch anything else on AS are people who've watched pretty much everything (and on a final note, I can't think of anyone I know in real life who watches the anime portion of the block).

The hard part is finding "live" people who watch ANYTHING on AS other than Futurama and Family Guy, whether it be the anime or the comedies. The ratings demonstrate there are several hundred thousand people who watch AS shows other than FUT and FG, so eventually we are bound to run into some of them in real life. But "eventually" can be a long, long time. (^_*)

Actually, the Oblongs, Sealab, and the Brak Show seemed pretty popular in the day as well. Though, you do have a point. Actually, now that I think about it, there were two people in my film production class who one time filmed their TV playing Home Movies. And I one time saw a guy with a Home Movies baseball hat on(those can't possibly be profitable). So, I guess there ARE Home Movies fans out there. I've only known one guy who watched the anime part though, and he watched Nickelodeon and other cartoons too.

Another thing that may make it hard to spot AS fans is that Adult Swim is kind of a "guilty pleasure" for a lot of the adult viewers. So they may be reluctant to admit they watch because of the old "cartoons are for kiddies" thing.
Or they may have a life and simply don't think to mention AS in everyday conversation. I'm more involved than most AS viewers simply because I'm a regular poster in online forums. (^_*)

Most of my friends who watch Adult Swim watch a lot of futurama and family guy and some ATHF once in a while. Adult Swim must be doing really well in Atlanta anyway. I've read two articles in the atlanta journal constitution about the block since august. They both focused on the comedy part of the block(not one mention of anime btw). There were also a bunch of quotes from students at UGA.

You forgot to remember that most households dont even get involved with nielson media research. That doesn't matter. The Nielson process works based on I believe random sampling. Statistically it likely projects out to the proper numbers, the networks freaking out and calling Nielson a liar about losing 18-34 to cable and video games not-withstanding. (BTW, Forgot to Remember? Interesting way to put it.)
Rabi's point of
how much of the population is adult since that million is counting only adult viewers is good one. After looking around, let me revise my equation for Adults.
Approximate US Adult Population: 200,000,000
Adult Swim Ratings (approx. best night): 1,000,000
Percentage of Adult Swim Viewers (US 18+): 0.5%
The Adult Population is extrapolated from the Nov. 2 election results as reported by Michael McDonald of George Mason University (http://elections.gmu.edu/voter_turnout.htm).
Approx. 60% of eligeable voters (18+) voted, or about 120 million.
That leaves a good 90 million plus for children and unregistered voters but I'm not sure how much better I can get without making more effort than I want to. Also, in regards to people not having cable well they can watch it in dorms, or at other people's houses and in anycase there aren't THAT many registered voters out there.

Well, they only count ratings or 18-34 year olds, which, if I'm understanding this right (http://www.census.gov/popest/national/asrh/NC-EST2003-as.html), is about 42,000,000 (give or take a few million since I only counted the 20-34 groups).
So we'll say about 45,000,000.
So that would about 2-3% or so?
