The ones that I can think of right now are...
-The Punisher, Blade Trinity, and Passion of the Christ (My 3 fav. movies of the year.)
-Triple H makes big film debut.
-Chris Benoit and Randy Orton becoming World Heavyweight Champions.
-Dubya getting 4 more years in office. (I wanted him to win even though I hate him.)
-The Punisher finally getting a big mainstream fanbase.
-NHL Lockout (It's big news even though I'm dying to see NHL back again.)
-Red Sox winning series (I think Garciaparra was the curse.)

Just in case, Christopher Reeve's death and Ronald Reagan's death both sort of have to do with the election because Reeve wanted to walk again with Kerry's stem cell research.(That is why I voted for Kerry)

Don't be such a nitpick.Tell that to the TZ personnel who decided there would be no more political discussion. It says, in plain english, in a sticky on the top of the forum, "No Further Discussion of Political Issues Allowed (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=125805)."
What part of that statement don't people understand?? If he (Alex Toon) didn't want a nitpick, then he shouldn't have brought up Bush, which technically could be a violation of the TOS, seeing as he's a political figure, and there's no discussion of political issues allowed, right? (or so we're led to believe)

What topic are you reading? Either I'm blind, or political discussion isn't entering anywhere into this. The only thing happening is the listing of big events that have occurred during 2004. Correct me if I'm somehow mistaken, but a Presidental Election applies as a "big event". While there's a banning of political discussions, there's nothing banning the NAMING OF A POLITICAL FIGURE. If that actually bothers you, just go ahead and move to a shack in some forest in North Dakota for the rest of your life. Furthermore, the only making a hoopla about Alex Toon's Bush statement is you. If you really think it's that big of a deal, tell a mod about it set the record straight. Okay then? Cool.
My addition: the Martha Stewart trial. Bwaha. :)

Oh yeah. I remember that now. That was sad.
Other things during 2004:
Bush being re-elected
There was also a train that collapsed in Spain, I believe
Ronald Regan dies
Bush proposing a Federal Marriage Amendment
That's about all I can think of at the moment.

Definately the most rememorable.
Funniest: brak attack and april fools
Worst: Bush and Shogunthethird. Also, a few people I know died. I didn't really enjoy this year very much.

The stuff that sticks out most in my mind about 2004:
-Martha Stewart (Had her as a desktop for the longest time)
-Hurricane season comes down on the Sunshine State with a vengance
-Ronald Reagan died for a week
-Superbowl halftime fiasco
-Boston Red Sox (very quiet in the house around that time)
-Mike Tyson KO'ed by some no-name up-and-comer
-A bunch of TV shows that I never watched coming to an end
-Ken Jennings pwns on Jeporady
-Paris Hilton becoming a household name (much to my chagrin)
-Popular music becoming progressively worse (too easy to name names)
-Pedro Martinez becomming a Met (Dad's happy about this)
-I came to TZ =D

Toon Zone's own shogunthethird was killed in August. Though, that's more of a lowlight for us.Agreed. Somewhat mixed emotions from me though. I did find shogun's passing quite tragic, but I always thought he was a jerk and I always will.
Nothing personal, though.

This year seemed extremely long and yet sorta short to me. It feels like it was ages ago that February (or even August!) was here, but September and October seemed to slip past. Craziness.
I think one the many things that stick out to me from this year is the tons deaths we had (Dangerfield, Reeve, Brando, Reagen, Shogunthethird, Dimebag Darrel, etc.) It was a very sad year for that fact.
The greatest thing would probably have to be. . . me! (I'm sure someone will agree with that.) I joined TZ in February. :D

Well, I'd say the best moments of this past, IMO, were George W. Bush's re-election and Mark Phelps winning in the Summer Olympics.:D
Here are my best & worst moments of 2004:
Feb--I had a 105.5 degree body temperature! :ack:
June--went to Asheville, NC. I liked the downtown area. It reminded me of NYC's Greenwich Village; included an out door restaurant with musical street performers.
July--my pet cat Jonathan died at age 20.:( :crying:
I went to see Spiderman 2 on my birthday.:D
August--checked out the summer olympics on TV.:D
Nov--attended my sister's wedding in Texas:)
Dec--my mom had to go back on chemo-therapy. At least, it's not as bad as before.

Yeah, it seemed like this year went by fast. It had it's ups and downs, to be honest. Several nice moments, but so many horrible deaths this year. I've grown more as a person.
In Entertainment: Spiderman II won rave reviews, while Catwoman won godawful reviews. The Incredibles, Colliateral, Ray, and more were great movies.
Bush won the election, although the odds were against him:rolleyes: . That's all I'll say on that. Martha Steward goes to prison.
Hurricane Ivan and the Tsunami in Asia killed many victims.
RIP: Rodney Dangerfield, Ray Charles, Rick James, Ronald Reagan, Christopher Reeve, Shogunthethird (although I didn't know him well), my cousin whom I lost, much more.
That's all I can think off.

This year was just way to weird for me. I mean seriously 4 hurricanes, one killer Tsunami.
Between Janet Jackson and Despertate housewives, and saving Private Ryan the FCC went on a witchunt. And the whole issue of values was a big thing this year with the debate over stem cells and the crazy homosexual marrige arguments.
We had an election year that was pretty bitter and vehement quite frankly, and I don't think there's a single person in America who doesn't know what a blog is now. We also found out just how powerful outside groups can be. We all know what a 527 is now don't we? And we all know that a political documentary can make lots of money.
At the movies a a rated R foreign language religous film killed pretty much everything at the boxoffice. Proved that Jesus is the biggest thing to hit Hollywood since...well that's to easy moving on...
NBA brawl that was unlike anything I'd ever seen in this country, The NHL locked out. And to top it all off the Red Sox won the world series...nuff said.
I could name a bunch of other things but you get the idea. Personally this year was just way to weird for me, personally I'm happy that we're entering 2005 before anything else even weirder happens.
