Is there a way to turn off the option of returning to the thread?

Not that I know of, no. But it might be an option when the next version of this forum software comes out.

I was just about to post a thread about this same topic. Another thing that bugs me (a little - nothing too bad) is that after marking a forum read you don't get popped back up a level (to the list of fora). Maybe it's just that I'm used to other forum software :)
