Lan and MegaMan are able to hold off SavageMan, but then something very strange occuers....a dimensional area forms around the entire Science Labs! Viruses appear in the real world and begin destroying everything in sight, and endager the lives of everyone trapped inside.

Chess Mess!

(Japanese title: I'll Battle You!)

Lan and his friends are visiting Masa's new Takoyaki (a Japanese octopus snack) stand! It seems that Masa has found a new way to promote calcium. Everyone is enjoying Masa's new flavour, everyone except Lan that is, for his takoyaki has been stolen! Lan finds out that a newcomer by the name of Tora Aragoma swiped his snack, who then begins to complain about Masa's cooking!

In the midst of their argument over Masa's takoyaki, three strange guys come up and challange Tora to a Chess NetBattle. Amazingly, all three of them are wiped out in the first attack by Tora's Navi KingMan! Tora loudly complains that there's no one strong enough to battle anymore, which of course catches Lan's attention. Tora challanges Lan to a Chess NetBattle, only with one catch. Whomever loses, has to give their NetNavi to the winner! Is Lan confident enough in his skills in order to put his precious MegaMan on the line?

NOTES: In this episode, MegaMan merges with Roll when he turns ElecTeam. Interestingly enough, the symbol on his chest changes to her symbol. This never happens whenever he merges with any other navi!

-This is episode 40 in the Japanese run.

The Incredible Rush!

(Japanese title: The Good Dog, Rush!)

During the night, a virus is stolen from the labs, baffling scientists. The next day, Maylu and Lan are shocked to find out that their precious NetNavis have all been transformed into cats! Not only Roll and MegaMan but GutsMan, IceMan and Glyde as well! Could this be the result of the stolen virus?

Lan's father returns to help solve the mysterious problem. He confirms that the new "neko" (cat) virus has infected all Net Navis, and if they don't capture and contain the virus quick, the transformation will be permanant!

NOTES:

-This is it, the infamous Neko episode. Don't miss this one!

-This is episode 41 in the Japanese run.

From Here to Revolutinary PETs

(Japanese title: Blues' Long Day!)

A company, Precise Electronics Machinery, is designing a new technology to aid in the creation of the next generation of PETs. Chaud is sent out by his father, to negotiate a partnership on behalf of his company, IPC. When Chaud arrives, the owner of the company barely gives him the time of day. Instead, he treats him as a lowly worker, by sending him out on tedious errands and cleaning such things as the bathroom toilet. Eventually, Chaud lends ProtoMan to the programmers, so he may help develop their data. Chaud's usual headstrong techniques quickly get in the way, and he's told to redo it carefully and slow instead. Things suddenly go awry when one of the programmers runs off with the uncompleted PET data, to sell it for money! Some unexpected old friends return, and Chaud learns a lesson in NetBattling that he won't soon forget!

NOTES:

-This is a fond farewell to Chaud & ProtoMan, in their last real appearance before Axess.

-This is episode 55 in the Japanese run.

And after this MegaMan once again leaves the lineup. Unless they show the CutMan Brothers episode or do another special event, this may be the last time we see MegaMan until next Spring. Blues' Long Day is a good send off, and a much better way to close out for now than Virus Busters.

Looks like a fun week. Wednesday's ep looks especially cool.

So, regarding episode 1 of Axess, I presume that stuff is a more advanced version of what Lan's dad did to that mall at the end of the first series, and therefore the viruses aren't vulnerable to water anymore. The cross fusion thing is a bit more of a fun gimmick than just having the navis follow the viruses out into the real world like in the mall episode. The powered up arm cannon is a clever substitute for not being able to use battle chips. Somehow jacking in is less impressive visually with the IR ports than with the actual cables, but IR ports are a logical progression of PETs given that such technology already exists.

Actually, Lan can use BattleChips while in Cross Fusion as long as he slots them in right before he transforms. The IR ports I believe are more convient than the cables because they have to keep the cable plugged in to send chips or plug the Navi out. It's also a better explanation in the games as to why you can still use chips even though Lan isn't near a jack in port.(There were a few scenarios where Lan would have to leave the place he jacked in to solve a puzzle.)

One intresting small tidbit about this episode is that its the first time a Navi and the Net Op were voiced by the same person namely Scott McNeil.

McNeil used a more lower toned version of his Duo voice on his Tora voice and a bit more lighter version of his Destro/Shade Man voice for King Man.

That sounded more like his Wily voice with a british accent instead of a German one. (Kingman) Damn Scott McNeil's good. I couldn't even tell that was him talking as Tora. (He sounded more like Chaud) Oh and once again, the pawns' swords get blurred out just like Shadowman's Muramasa. *sigh* Why can't they make exceptions for hand-held swords? They look ridiculous as lightsabers.

Agreed....

Oh yeah and I saw that Neko episode today, good but I was kinda hoping that WWW would've appeared...

What was up with Tuesday's? Chess net battling? How would a chess based net battle even work? They seemed to ignore the rules of chess and start shooting things up whenever they felt like it.

I missed Wednesday's. Stupid power outage. I guess that's one episode I'll never get to see. :(
