what do you think? i love jl so far, but for some reason there's a been there, done that, feel to the show. would anyone perfer that the show didnt follow the animated continuity and changed the animation style to make the show completely new? like batman and superman would be completely redesigned in a different style, no more conroy, whole new character directions, things like that.
i personally like the bruce timm style and the animated continuity, but there seems to be something missing in the show so far. maybe the answer would be to take a completely new direction, i mean how fresh and cutting edge would the show be if timm went all out to create something completely new? just a thought. any comments?

I like the show as it is. In a way, it is brand new. We have four brand new characters (plus one old guest star) joining Superman and Batman's fight.
In another way, it's like animated "comfort food." It's the same rich world that Bruce Timm created--one that we've only had a glimpse of. We get to see our old friends again (Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor, Joker, Darkseid, etc). It's like this new series is an extension of a larger whole--one started by the two Batman shows, the Superman show, and Batman Beyond.
Frankly, starting a brand new show would be rather foolish. First, we'd have to toss out everything--and I mean everything--that occured on the previous shows. They would have to take up a lot of the time establishing stuff that they had already established and have to deal with the comparisons that would arise from it. It would be a wasted effort.
Besides, of course there's a "been there, done that" feel to it--we've only seen 1 1/2 episodes of it! Star Trek: TNG took time to develop its own feel, but it did. Justice League will too.

I personally would really hate if they tossed out everything that makes Batman , Superman and the Justice League who they are for a redesigned totally foreign show. I've waited a long time to see The Justice League and if they had given us a show designed like Pokemon with characters that act like they are out of Power Rangers or something like that it would suck.I mean what new direction do you take Batman in, a school teacher who fights crime at night? Superman as a superpowered Ice Cream man? What? Theres nothing that needs to be changed IMO. If they made the show any other way I dont think I would like it. Timm and co know what they are doing.

Can yo uimagine if they animated the show like X-Men? Saban totally butchered the animated X-Men show, and I shudder to think how a show like JL would turn out under their animation wing. Wait...I don't shudder - I cringe! I think JL is an almost perfect show!

I've always been a fan of the Bats and Supes animated style.
Especially the Bats " Demon Within " episode, the work in that was terrific.
So far I have no real complaints with JL, there are some frames that look great and there are some looking ahhh( need work! ) :(
Having to wait like centuries for a JL show, I say so far so good :D

Agreed - it does look good. I am really, really hoping we get a couple episodes animated by TMS (the company behind "The Demon Within"). Can you imagine how spectacular those would look? *Whistles*

Well, I myself wouldn't watch it if Kevin Conroy was not the voice of batman anymore! He's been doing that voice for 10 years!! Now would not be the time to change.

That would be such a gigantic change! The change from Daly to Neubeurn was jarring enough (even though it is starting to 'fit'), but changing Conroy to someone else would be...bad...

Difficult question. It would depend which artist and/or style from the JLA comic they were mimicking. Having read the comics since the 60's (alright, junior, I admit it, I am an aging boomer), I am more accustomed to the comic's more realistic style but I have grown a certain fondness for the current animated version as well. So, I am probably one of those few who prefer those characters who are slightly more realistic (superman with his new cheek bones) rather than completely stylized (the flash's oversized smirking smile) but I really can't completely answer the question yet.. probably would have to watch the current form quite a bit more first.
Here's an odd spin on the original question... ignoring the "cartoony" CGI at the beginning, what would the reaction be to a semi-realistic CGI (closer to the Max Steel variety or Final Fantasy theatrical movie type)????

Animated continuity's awesome, even if they don't follow it. I like seeing the League's beginnings, and watch it go from there. It adds to the coolness of an already-awesome show. The way they don't all completely trust each other, that's cool. With an already-established League, everyone knows everyone and pretty much trusts them. The distrust adds to the show.

I think I understand what DerekPowers is talking about. It would be nice to see something both good and new, but I'm happy with what is good and familiar.
There is actually a lot to be said for radical experimentation, both in design and voice work, because it lets you see the characters in a fresh and revealing light. I mean, just think back to TNBA's "Legends of the Dark Knight," which let us see the characters and settings sport very different style.
