Apparently its official, the quote on the news page says there's a guest star who hasn't been on screen since a forgotten 40's serial.......Plastic Man had one of those, and its about the only one I can think of. Plas fans rejoice!

Plasticman had a Saturday morning cartoon, I remember watching it as a kid. I'm pretty sure there was even a plastic baby.

But Plastic Man had those cartoons in the 1980s. I took it to mean that they were using one of the characters from the old Superman cartoons (1940s).

Or maybe they mean Captain Marvel. He had some old live action serials.

I'm pretty good with Plas hostory, and I am almost definily sure that Plastic Man never had a 40's serial. But he was created in 1941! I'm hoping it's him, but I have doubts. Anybody else have any idea who it could be?

I'd say that it is almost definitely Blackhawk.

He was created in 1941, and also had a movie serial (Kirk Alyn, the actor who portrayed Superman in the 40's also played Blackhawk). Plastic Man never had a serial (I think his stretching powers would have been a bit taxing on the budget and the capabilities of special effects during that time.)

And Blackhawk's character is a native of Poland. That would explain the comment in the news article about the discussion of whether the character should have an accent or not.

This month, Cinescape magazine quoted Timm as saying he really liked Blackhawk and would love to use him eventually.

The only other possiblity I could think of was the original Vigilante. He was created in '41 and had a "lost" serial. The writers may have been discussing whether or not he should have a country-western accent or not.

Hey, I would love to see Plas eventually also (talk about a character MADE for animation), but I don't think that's who they were talking about.

And funny, isn't it, that Berkowitz was hoping to REDUCE the amount of speculation and spoilers about the upcoming episodes? Oh well...

I thought maybe they considered his movie as a serial, I have a small article about it with pictures in black and white, Ill have to scan it. What the heck is this about a plastic man cartoon?

In the early 80's Plastic Man had his own Saturday morning cartoon. It was called the Plastic Man Comedy-Adventure Show I think. I want to say that it lasted for two seasons. During the first season, Plas had a blonde girlfriend named Penny, I think, and a Hawaiian sidekick who looked like Don Ho. For the second season Plas and Penny were married and they had a bouncing baby boy. Hilarity ensued.

But what the heck is this about a Plastic Man MOVIE?!

What makes you think that?

well, if it is Plas-- cool-- but they're setting up FLASH as the joker of the team-- chances are, Plas would only be a guest

Blackhawk is the most logical. But how would they incorporate him into the SciFi genre of JL? He's a guy who flys in a plane. That is all he does. Fly in a plane. I don't even know if he's an adequate hand - to - hand combatant! And BTW, Plastic Man's Don Ho-like buddy was called Hula-Hula.

I tend to side with those that think that the Flash has been given the humorous or wisecracking role of the show, making any plastic man appearances (limited or recurring) unlikely. Personally, I'm not a fan of his (and yes, I saw the previous cartoon in the early 80's) so for me it's not a great loss. At this point, I'd prefer more power and in depth characterization and less chance for overt humor... a slippery slope into corny Superfriends territory (so far, though, they are managing to walk the tightrope well with the Flash!)

I remember the Plastic Man cartoon. I even had the figure. I hope they don't show him on JL. Flash is fine as the comedian of the group. I also think the roster is fine the way is now as well.

While I'd love to see Plas in the League, I don't think he fits in. He'd be an awesome guest star, but this isn't his kinda League. The comic book JL is perfect, since he's the wild card. But Flash is the resident wild card in this JL. While another fun-loving character would strengthen the League, another wild card wouldn't.

who ever said anything about him joining, I would be happy with him as a guest star. A frequent guest star mind you, but still just a guest star. It would be funny if he would get on flash's nerves.

Hmmm. A wiseacre who out-Flashes Flash. Everyone else thinks he's a gas. And Flash turns moody and truculent as a result.

I like it!

It could be Blackhawk--after all, Timm and company had talked about using the Blackhawk squadron in the time travel episode. Who could be a better Blackhawk member than the Blackhawk?

Plastic Man is a fun character but in the the context of JL he doesnt work.

In the mainline comics hes there as an acknowledgement that the team needs kind of a comedic presence.

In TAS The Flash serves this purpose far better and without being a Jim Carey type attached to the team.

The Blackhawks! I bet *thats* who the team has been refering to as someone who will show up and hasnt been onscreen sicne the 40's. Nothings been done with Blackhawk in other media since the Kirk Alyn serial.

Oh, poo foo on all of you... Plas is the Eddie Murphy to Flash's Tom Arnold! Well, okay, not EDDIE, maybe Robin Williams... either way, Flash is more annoying than funny, and that reads to me as a first-grade bore, which is death to any toon...
Oh, and next one to say Plas wouldn't fit in, I'll nominate Blue Devil! :D
BTW, I need to hunt thru my old books, I should have the old ABC Saturday morning ads for Plas' show somewhere...
Draft Plas!
Audi!

Eh, so I was wrong, newspage just reported the latest press release, it was Blackhawk. I think more people would have wanted to see Plas though, don't all gang up on me at once, it was just speculation.
