View Full Version : Nintendo Revolution revealed!

Nintendo has been stressing over the past year that the gaming industry must either innovate or die. Instead of focusing on a more powerful system, Nintendo promised a next generation gaming machine unlike what the world has seen before. And, today, Nintendo revealed this "Revolution."

The Revolution.
Renamed to "Giant Red Ball", Nintendo's new console will not interface with a TV. In fact, it does not contain any electronic parts. Nintendo describes this new systems as a "Red, rubber, spherical apparatus" that can "bounce very high." Through Nintendo, gamers will be able to purchase game instructions that utilize the Giant Red Ball's hardware. Such examples Nintendo has in the works include "Dodge Ball", "Wall Ball", and "Four Square."
"Giant Red Ball will innovate the industry unlike any console before. Gamers will now be able to play games with a physical object, and it will require constant movement. It's durable shape and condition also allow it to be easily transported, whether you want to take it to a friends house for some multiplayer action or bring it to a playground to use during recess," said Nintendo.

Many are praising Nintendo's new console as a much needed idea, whereas others are skeptical. Critics are citing that, although Nintendo has created something new and unique, they are still refusing to conform to the new standard: online play. Nintendo still assures this wouldn't be profitable. However, Nintendo is considering making the final version of Giant Red Ball LAN compatible. In addition, Nintendo is stressing the revolutionary connectivity that Giant Red Ball will experience with the Nintendo DS and future Game Boy.
Giant Red Ball is expected to retail at a mere two hundred dollars, whereas Sony's and Microsoft's new consoles will be closer to three or four hundred. However, GameCube fans will be disappointed to learn that Nintendo has made the ill-fated decision to move Mario 128 and the new Zelda to Giant Red Ball as launch titles.

LOL! I was expecting a hoax, but, man, that was a great spoof article.
Strangely, it also seems to make me realize the limiting aspect of gaming via TV - other than DDR, other 'physical' control schemes tend to just look odd or embarassing -- Maybe its just the nostalgia effect of seeing people tossing a giant red ball at each other, but right now, I'm actually a tad hyped to play me some Dodge Ball. I think I have me a spare $200 around here somewhere...

Wait, was this supposed to be funny?
If this is supposed to be a joke, then I'm beginning to find Wanda Sykes *alot* more funnier now. (And I HATE Wanda Sykes)

You mean DDR doesn't look odd or embarrassing? I play all the time, but only when I'm alone, because I don't want other people to see me looking like a jackass.
Hey, does anyone remember that baseball game thing that you could plug into the TV that came out a few months ago? You basically swung this bat that was hooked up to the TV and it could tell if you hit the ball or whatever. But, the graphics sucked, because it wasn't on a system like Playstation 2 or X Box, it was just connected to the TV. Why they didn't just make it for PS2 or X-Box, where they might have been able to sell some, I'll never know...

Anyway, I thought it was humorous. Not hilarious but it's not as terrible as everyone seems to be reacting to it.

My guess is that he'll be on the side the requires him to be grumpiest.
As for the article.. as a Ninny Fanboy myself, it's smirk worthy. Nintendo has been working over time to underwhelm us and was potential while occasionally hooking us up with kickass gems.

Wow. I got worked up for that crap. Worse, I examined the site itself. It sucked. A lot. Please skip these stunts. End them now, or I will destroy the most northwesten crater of Pluto.
Holy crap, have you people ever heard of a little thing called "satire"? I mean, I knew a majority of TZ didn't have a real sense of humor, but damn...

The main problem is that fake news has been done to death. That tempered my reaction to it, because anyone could come up with something like this now. But it's still true, and didn't deserve the reaction it got.

I liked it. Topically and sharp. I think some people need to relax a little. It's a joke. You don't find it funny, fine - but stop being so defensive.
Let's be kind here. There is a distinct wiff of fanboyism and rebuttal which could get nasty. Let's not have that. It's a joke article. Nintendo fans shouldn't be offended, and there should be no accusations that people who don't like must be N fans. Keep it nice.
I want one of those balls.. $200 you say?

My reaction would have been the same if the title read "PS3" or "X-box 2"
if it were presented as a "hey wouldn't it be funny if..." I would have been more amused.

I find it very, very odd that you guys get so worked up about being misled for 15 seconds but have no problem with cryptic thread titles that give little to no clue to what the topic is actually about. Not to mention, the latter of these is much more rampant in this forum.
(That really was pretty badly worded. Sorry.)

(That really was pretty badly worded. Sorry.)so worked up? I can't recal anyone going into fanboy-fits in this thread, just describing their distaste for the joke. Sometimes itseems peopel are so anti-fanboy they're ready to jump on them at the slightest provocation. -__-
and Misleading thread titles ARE a nuisance, it just rarely feels worth it to point it out.

Granted, maybe most people weren't exactly worked up. Bad wording on my part. But I still think the snide "WHAT A WASTE OF TIME" comments were uncalled for and harsher than required.
and Misleading thread titles ARE a nuisance, it just rarely feels worth it to point it out.And this was? We barely ever even have threads in this vein, so why is being misled for about 15 seconds so much more worth speaking out against?
Though, really, the only thing I find lamer than caring so much about this is arguing about it. OMG THE IRONY IS ON ME OMG :(
Hm. Maybe some of you guys should hold that $200 for the next console and buy yourselves a sense of humor. :p
So far that's the best advice in the whole thread. I couldn't have said it any better.
