Hey, I guess this would be to DickGrayson, the mad hatter, harley, nightwing, and all the other people who do such a great job running these boards. I was just wondering if this is like a job you do that you get paid for, like how somepeople are hired to run certain websites, and if so, who's site is this? Or did one of you or all of you start this site on your own and run it because you love comics? I can tell you love comics and batman/superman/bb/jla, but is updating and monitoring this board a job or hobby? just wondering. either way, great job! peace.

I'll tell ya, I've been doing this job for quite a few months now and DG is REALLY late with my checks. "it's in the mail, I swear!" Geez, he should just copy and paste that for our convienience.
LOL! I'm kidding. This site is a NON profit organization to wake people up to animation, especially the Batman/Superman stories, because of how great it can be! And it's also for fans who already feel that way, of course.
For more specifics, DG is the one with all the memories. And that makes sense of course, being the site's creator. DG created the boards, and Robin III provided the site, so these guys are your top guru's. The majority of us are from a group of people who used to visit Batman Animated boards such as The Bat Toon Board and Alfred's Message Board (courtesy of RobinIII). DG and Robin chose me because I've been around since the beginning, and they wanted another moderator. On a serious note (personal opinion), I think that was a good idea because only experience can make you understand the problems, issues, and at times hardships having a message board open to the public can bring. I don't mean to sound arrogant, it's just that we've had the hardships to prove it.
Later on, the desire to have more Gotham Knights patrolling the board is the motivation to get more. Who depends on who the person is, which is initially chosen by DG or Robin. We don't have a system or anything (Simpsons quote: "I call President!" lol), it's all based on their judgement. For example....
What we need are people familiar with computers (of course) who are big fans of our boards' topics and are very responsible. BrianUK and Inque ring a bell? You better believe it!
Animation: It aint just for kids anymore!

Nightwing basically got the gist of the whole thing, but I got a couple more tidbits to add. First, I'll do a breif history check. RobinIII's BATMAN: THE ANIMATED HOMEPAGE was already online when I put up the 1st board SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED MESSAGE BOARD on Sept. 20th, 1998. A week later I put up BATMAN and BATMAN BEYOND Boards, and those grew in popularity. It was all actually good timing as the much missed BAT-TOON Board was ransacked by the same people who ruined the WF Boards at our previous host, Boardhost. I got a regular poster at the WF board to put up a site to connect them, but after 2 or 3 months, he (E. Nygma) dissapeared, but the site still remains up. I think the URL is http://members.spree.com/batcomputer . So I enlisted the aid of RobinIII to make me a new site, and he did. As the site kept growing and growing, we decided to meld his site with my site to form WF. That's how WF was formed -- but there's more!
After 2 years or so online, we got a couple offers to join big site chains like IGN, Toonzone, and Comixtreme, but turned them down to stay put. Finally, Comixtreme won us over, and as we were about to move to Comixtreme, Toonzone made one last bid to get us to join, and we did. We joined Toonzone in early 2001 and never looked back. Toonzone has been online since 1997 I think and was essentially an online hang out for WB Animation fans. The Toonzone site and community kept growing and growing, evolving into what it is today. This place is non-profit. We make no money off World's Finest or these boards, and I don't mind at all. I enjoy working on the site, the newspage, and especialy these boards. We do all of this in our spare time, for free, and we enjoy it!
As for the mods, RobinIII & I chose Nightwing becuase he was around since day one, was a great poster, could keep his cool, and was trust worthy. I'd trust him with my life if I had to. BrianUK has one of the best Batman sites around (with THE best Heroes/Villian page) and has also been around since day one. I got to know him and we became great friends and I enlisted his aid. A big help was the time difference, which helps him moderate the board while we sleep. As for Inque, we became friends quickly becuase he was just head strong and eager to help in everyway possible. He can do some amazing things with HTML and CGI-BIN. I think the Gotham Knights crew I have now is the best there ever was, and ever will be. There has been a couple slightly altered line-ups in the past, but we'd rathar concentrate on the now. Harley and her crew run the other boards stationed here but overlooks all. She's a great gal, amazing conversationalist, and an all around friend.
So, in short this is a hobby (which has actually helped our my journalism skills) and I enjoy it. While THE WORLD'S FINEST may be mine and RobinIII, Harley and Brian are the runners of TOONZONE. I'm glad you're enjoying this site. We got alot more coming up soon stick around! You ain't seen nothin' yet!

Thanks for the kind words, DG. And an excellent rendition of our history lesson (like I said, he knows it best). But ya know, that's funny because coincidentally I just went to E.Nygma's site a few days ago, looking for traces of him (email or what have you). That is the URL by the way, just to confirm. At the time he was the most recourcefull, dirt gathering poster we ever had! But sometime after Batman Beyond's prime time premiere, he was gone. Nice guy too.
It's so weird looking at the past when I'm this young. I'm not used to it cuz I'm still making my past! lol. Even so, I should sheeadap before this turns into a mod ego boost thread. :(

Eh? I'm not a moderator, and I've got nothing to do with the day-to-day running of this board or Toonzone. I'm just a guy who's been around for years that posts far too much. I'll also write the occasional article when Harley or DG asks. I've thought about taking on a more active role, but my job keeps me pretty busy, and I've got this nutty notion of wanting to be dependable, rather than shirking duties for weeks at a time (no matter how good the excuses are). So, I just pitch in when I can.

Yeah, I think he's just confused because you have the word "official" in your title, Mr. Hatter, since you're a haberdasher. :)
I'm sure that clears the confusion up a bit.

wow, its nice to hear the origin story of world's finest. yeah, i was just wondering cause you do such a great job, especially on the news page. it seems like everyday we get to read ALOT of breaking news in the animation/comics world. anyway you guys rock and we all love these boards. as i've probably mentioned before this is like the only site i visit regularly and the only boards i post at. but its great that you all do this out of your love for the art, not for the cash, and you do it better than anyone else. Peace!

I think Nightwing and DG have already said everything that I would have said.
Also, webdesign is a job that you can get paid for. I've landed a summer job at Addison.com (even though I wanted WB cause that includes DC and KidsWB but they had no positions open) for $10.50 an hour. (oh yeah i could have gotten a job at marvel, but you have to be in college..i'm still in highschool) they're located in new york. And I'm getting paid to do the stuff I already do at world's finest and toonzone!
Oh and by the way, if you can hook me up with a job at Warner Bros or somewhere else well known.....here's my resume, hope it doesn't take up TOO much space, even though its just one page on paper.
